Deuteronomy (ESV) 14:
22 You shall tithe all the yield of your seed that comes from the field year by year.
An early source ("Tosafot") commenting on the Talmud says that this promise to become rich through tithing applies to tithing from all income in general. Some other sources fail to concur, though others do. Nevertheless, they agree that there is a special virtue in tithing income, as discussed below.
