We use Quora to keep ourselves up-to-date on matters of interest to us and of value to Brit-Am. Through Quora we also are enabled to spread Brit-Am teachings.
The Balfour Declaration of 1917 declared that the British Government was in favor odf established a Jewish State in Palestine. This is considered the foundational statement of the British Government ruling over Palestine and preparing it to become the State of Israel.

2. The Balfour Declaration in History.
The Balfour Declaration was published in a letter dated 2 November 1917 from Arthur Balfour the Foreign Secretary of the UK in a government headed by the Welshman Lloyd George. It was addressed to Lord Rothschild, a leader of the British Jewish community, to be transmitted to the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland. The text of the declaration was published in the press on 9 November 1917.
# His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavors to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country. #
It does not really say that much. The expression "view with favour" does not necessarily entail any obligation.
The original draft of the announcement spoke of making Palestine a National Home rather than making a National Home in Palestine. It also did not speak of the rights of "existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine." See the comments of Franz Kobler: "The Vision Was There. The British conquered Palestine from the Ottoman Turks towards the end of 1917. The Balfour Declaration had been made public a month beforehand.
In December 1917 the British and Anzacs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) and other British forces conquered the Holy Land. At first the Land was ruled by British Military authorities. In June 1920.a Civilian Administration took over. It was headed by Herbert Samuel a Jew and a committed Zionist.
The Balfour Declaration in 1922 was incorporated by the League of Nations (forerunner to the United Nations) into the declaration of a Mandate for Britain over Palestine.
"Mandate" means literally "put into one's hands", from the Latin "manus" ("hand") and "dare" ("to put"). In this case it meant that Britain was being allowed to rule over the area on the understanding that a Jewish National Home would be created therein.
There is a debate as to whether the Mandated territory included all of Palestine west of the Jordan or if it also encompassed Trans-Jordan meaning the area of Jordan today.

3. Why did the British do this?
The British descend from the Ten Tribes but they are not on the whole aware of it. Americans in the USA (an offshoot of Britain) today are much more conscious of this truth.
Nevertheless, the British in England in the 1600s were already talking about the need to re-establish a Kingdom of the Jews in the Holy Land.
Some of them saw such a step to be a necessary prelude to converting the Jews to Christianity. This was a recurring point of view of Christian Zionism and still exists among its adherents. Despite this from the beginning there were those who were not really interested in converting the Jews but rather simply in re-establishing a Jewish polity in the Holy Land. Also many of those who spoke of converting the Jews did so from wishful thinking and not as a conditional goal.
We in Brit-Am/Hebrew awareness believe in Orthodox Judaism but we do not want Gentiles converting to Judaism. There may be exceptions here and there but overall that is not what Brit-Am should be concerned with.
In the time of the coming Messiah we trust that all these problems and religious disagreements will be resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned.
Many important Gentile Zionists and friends of the Jewish People also believe in British Israel type teaching tracing the British and their kinfolk to the Lost Ten Tribes.
Examples of such initials include Lieutenant-Colonel John Henry Patterson (1867-1947|),. Colonel Richard Meinertzhagen (1878-1967), Orde Wingate (1903 -1944), and others. All three of these were military personalities of some note.

4. What Right did the British Have to issue the Balfour Declaration?
A frequently asked question by critics of Zionism is,
What gave Britain the right to take country of one people (i.e. Palestine) and give it to another ethnicity?
The answer consists of two parts:
a. Prosaic Reasons.
# In the beginning there seemed to be enough room for both parties. Palestine at that time was underdeveloped and sparsely populated. In theory Jews and Arabs could have existed along side each other. We say the Arabs were to blame but it does not matter that much. It was not to work out. The option of population transference did not come up at the beginning. Eventually after the Israeli Declaration of Independent in 1948 many Palestinians were to flee and go to Arab Lands. At the same time even more Jews were expelled from Arab lands (Iraq, Libya, Yemen, etc) and moved to Israel.

So it more than evened out. There should therefore no longer be a need to give explanations but there is because the same interlocutors keep insisting on asking them. Nevertheless, the historical reality of events that occurred later justifies what went before.
# Belief in the Bible led those who read it to feel that the will of the Almighty was that the Jews should return to their Land.
# The British had a history of wishing to restore the Jews to their land. Important people for centuries had been adherents of such a belief. With the passing of time more and more became interested in it.
# The British and Americans and French all wished to find a territorial solution to the Jewish Refugee Problem. Different peoples, especially Russia, had periodically been persecuting the Jews and not enough countries were prepared to take them in. Attempts had been made to find an alterant domain for them. Suggestions that were taken seriously at some stage or other included Western Australia, El Arish (in Egyptian Sinai to the southwest of Palestine), South America, Alaska, East Africa, etc.
# Palestine was the best option available. It was the only place most Jews really wanted to go to. It was relatively under-developed and under-populated. Later this changed.
# The geo-politic reality placed value on having a reliable partner in that part of the world.
b. Metaphysical Explanations.
In Biblical Times the Ten Tribes had separated from Judah. They lost awareness of their ancestry BUT they still fulfilled some of the goals they had been created for.
They (through the UK, USA, Switzerland, Scandinavian countries, etc) upgraded themselves and the rest of humanity and are still doing so. They also were destined to help their brothers their Jews return to the Land of Israel and rebuild it.
This is what they have done.
The Balfour Declaration emerged from the should the collective national subconscious of the British People.
They expressed what their destiny required of them.
In Rabbinical tradition the Messiah son of Joseph helps the Jews return to the Land and rebuild it. The Messiah son of Joseph represents the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel.

5. The Jews as Judah.
In hindsight we may see that despite a lot of problems overall the British did what they had to do, more or less. In addition to helping to create the State of Israel they also created the State of Jordan.
It may be debated as to whether Jordan was included in the Balfour Declaration or not.
Whatever the case Judah also had obligations.
The Jews received areas of the Land of Israel and returned them to the Arabs.
Sinai was conquered from Egypt twice.
the first occupation lasted from October 1956 to March 1957, and the second occupation lasted from June 1967 to April 1982.
Israeli settlements in the Sinai Peninsula were split into two regions: one along the Mediterranean coast, and another along the Gulf of Aqaba. Israel had plans to expand the settlement of Yamit into a city of up to 200,000 residents. The actual population of Yamit never exceeded 3,000 The settlements in the Yamit region were demolished by Israel prior to the withdrawal, but the settlements on the gulf: Ofira (Sharm el-Sheikh), Di Zahav (Dahab), and Neviot (Nuweiba) remained intact, and were further developed by Egypt after the withdrawal.
Gush Katif was a bloc of 17 Israeli settlements in the southern Gaza Strip. In August 2005, the Israeli army forcibly removed the 8,600 Jewish residents from their homes after a decision from the Cabinet of Israel. The communities were demolished as part of Israel's unilateral disengagement from Gaza.
There were also areas of the Golan that Israel abandoned.
So too inthe West Bank large portions were turned over to almost complete Arab control.
The Temple Mount was formally delivered over tot he suzerainty of Jordan.
None of this and morel like it should have happened.
The Jewish citizens are not sufficiently observant of the Jewish Religion. Non-Observance of the Law endangers the whole country.
Also immoral behavior has a negative effect. Abortions in Israel damage the Jewish People.
