The School of Velikovsky and how we Date the Ancient World (4 September, 2014, 9 Elul, 5774)
[Brit-Am Note: The School of Immanuel Velikovsky holds that ancient chronology as convenionally rendered is grossly mistaken. They hold that certain epochs should be placed much later than they are. They also say that ancient peoples who are recorded as separate entities in some cases are one and the same, e.g. Sumer is Babylon, the Mitanni are the Medes. They also claim that in the past planet earth suffered from a serries of catastrophes due to collisions or close contact with celestial bodies such as the planet Venus. Our private opinion at present is that the School of Velikovsky may be right on some matters but not necessarily on all of them. Stephen Phillips in the article below presents evidence he considers confirms the views of Velikovsky.]
Concerning the changes which occurred to the solar year during the time of Hezekiah. When we start looking at changes to the calendar which have occurred as a result of extraterrestrial intervention, we have to look at a number of different disciplines. Not only archaeology, but geology, astrophysics and evolution all have to be challenged in order to make any leeway. Despite his fierce critics, Immanuel Velikovsky was a man ahead of his time in this respect. His books Worlds in Collision and Earth in Upheaval are eye-openers to how academics twist the facts to suit their purposes. To prove these people wrong requires a great deal of hard evidence. One of the things which archaeologists will throw at you when you contend that the calendar changed from a 360 day to a year calendar to one of 365 days during the time of King Hezekiah is that there is evidence of a 365 day calendar being kept in the Egyptian 12th Dynasty tomb of Khnumhotep. Unless one is prepared to challenge and investigate this claim, it is very easy to fall into the trap of accepting what the "experts" say without giving the matter the sort of in-depth consideration it requires.

This excerpt is taken from my forthcoming book Ancient History Reconsidered in which I completely rewrite the Assyrian and Egyptian histories. Archaeologists have put far too much trust in ancient forgeries, lies and deceptions. The book seeks to put the archaeological record straight.
The two volumes of Daniel D. Luckenbill's "Ancient Records of Assyria and Babylonia" can be read and downloaded from the following sites:-

It is the Assyrian records of Esarhaddon (Vol. 2) which are the key to understanding this enigma of the change of calendar. He accurately describes the catastrophic event which caused the change to the calendar: The planet Sag.Magar, which caused great upheavals over the course of eleven years of his father's reign, in the first year of his own reign stood still in the station of the sun. He saw this as a sign that his own reign would be prosperous. After this spectacular event, we are told that the stars returned to their rightful place in the sky. These passages, which are considered by our beloved academics to be religious mumbo-jumbo, describe a collision between our planet and another celestial body which came between us and the sun.
When we read about the earthquake which occurred during the reign of King Uzziah (also called Azariah), we naturally assume it was just an earthquake. Ginzberg tells us that half the western hill in the city of Jerusalem was HURLED a distance of some four stadia, which equates to around 740 metres or 809 yards. This then was no ordinary earthquake! A copy of Vol. 4 of Ginzberg's book can be obtained from the following site should you wish to check what I am saying: http://rbedrosian.com/Levant/GinzLeg4.pdf.
