Article by Yair Davidiy:
In order to understand many issues concerning the Lost Ten Tribes some knowledge of history in general and Biblical History in particular is useful. The problem is that the field is dominated by scholars and academics with atheistical agendas or strong prejudices against the Hebrew Bible. Nevertheless, we need to form as clear a picture as we possibly can.

The problem is that the field is dominated by scholars and academics with atheistical agendas or strong prejudices against the Hebrew Bible. Nevertheless, we need to form as clear a picture as we possibly can.
There exists a discrepancy between the Chronology of Rabbinical Sages (as given in Midrash Seder Olam) and that of Modern Scholars.
Concerning the Rabbinical one usually employed there were great Sages who disagreed with it. We are NOT obliged to accept it. It is however a possibility.
Modern Scholars use Egyptian and Greek sources that may be mistaken. The main difference between the Modern approach and the Rabbinical one concerns the monarchs of Media and Persia. For the time being we are not about to take sides on this matter. We do however incline more towards the Rabbinical approach.
At all events we need to revise our understanding of Ancient History. This could help us in matters concerning the Lost Ten Tribes and proving their present whereabouts..
[Another issue concerns Evolution and the Creation of the World. We do not believe in Evolution but there are explanations that present it as compatible with the Bible. Here too, we are not about to concern ourselves with this.]
The main points as far as we are concerned are:
Human Beings as we know them came into being ca. 3760 BCE.
At first the world was different, people lived longer, giants existed, etc.
Then came The Flood in ca. 2105 BCE.
The nature of man changed but it was gradual. Many features from before the Flood remained though gradually fading.
In 1765 the Tower of Babel event resulted in Language Differences and the Dispersion of populations. We are accustomed to associate ethnic differentials with linguistic ones. This however may not always be the case.
The Ten Tribes were exiled in the Period of 740-722 BCE according to Modern Reckoning or 574-556 BCE according to the Rabbinical Reckoning.
Main Dates in ROUNDED FIGURES:
Creation of Man: ca. 4000 BCE.
Deluge and Dispersion: ca. 2105 BCE
Exile of Ten Tribes ca. 700 BCE or ca. 600 BCE.
Even though there are indications of earlier dispersions of Israelites on the whole we have to place all proofs of Israelite Descent to a time after ca. 700 BCE.
Below we have given accepted Rabbinical Chronology alongside the modern version.
Rabbinical Chronology does not necessarily have to be accepted even by Religious Jews as religious obligatory.
Nevertheless, it is what we have to work with for the moment.
