Isaiah (TCB) 57: Oslo and Arab Intransigence.
1 THE RIGHTEOUS MAN HAS PERISHED, BUT NO ONE TAKES IT TO HEART, AND MEN OF KINDNESS ARE TAKEN AWAY, WITH NO ONE UNDERSTANDING THAT BECAUSE OF THE EVIL THE RIGHTEOUS MAN HAS BEEN TAKEN AWAY.
It sometimes happens that righteous people suffer due to the sins of others. The second part of the verses has been understood to say that the righteous man dies before his time in order not to see the coming disasters. Or does not have his time prolonged as he may otherwise might have had.
2 HE SHALL COME IN PEACE; THEY SHALL REST IN THEIR RESTING- PLACE, WHOEVER WALKS IN HIS UPRIGHTNESS.
3 AND YOU, DRAW NEAR HITHER, CHILDREN OF SORCERY; CHILDREN WHO COMMIT ADULTERY, AND PLAYED THE WHORE.
Compare the KJV Translation i this case:
[Isaiah (KLV) 57:3] BUT DRAW NEAR HITHER, YE SONS OF THE SORCERESS, THE SEED OF THE ADULTERER AND THE WHORE.
People who engage in witchcraft are often also immoral in other ways.
4 ON WHOM WILL YOU [RELY TO] ENJOY YOURSELVES; AGAINST WHOM DO YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH WIDE; AGAINST WHOM DO YOU STICK OUT YOUR TONGUE? ARE YOU NOT CHILDREN OF TRANSGRESSION, SEED OF FALSEHOOD?
5 YOU WHO INFLAME YOURSELVES AMONG THE TEREBINTHS (turpentine tree) , UNDER EVERY GREEN TREE, WHO SLAUGHTER THE CHILDREN IN THE VALLEYS, UNDER THE CLEFTS OF THE ROCKS.
This is a reference to human sacrifice in ancient times. It is also referring to infanticide. The fruit of adulterous unions was the frequent victim of murder by their parents. Nowadays abortion is practiced. Abortion is also forbidden and should be forbidden and those who practice it punished.
6 OF THE SMOOTH [STONES] OF THE VALLEY IS YOUR PORTION; THEY, THEY ARE YOUR LOT; TO THEM TOO YOU HAVE POURED OUT LIBATIONS, OFFERED UP SACRIFICES; IN THE FACE OF THESE SHALL I RELENT?
This is a reference to idolatrous practices.
7 ON A HIGH AND LOFTY MOUNTAIN YOU PLACED YOUR COUCH; THERE TOO YOU WENT TO SLAUGHTER SACRIFICES.
8 AND BEHIND THE DOOR AND THE DOORPOST YOU HAVE DIRECTED YOUR THOUGHTS, FOR WHILE WITH ME, YOU UNCOVERED [US] AND WENT UP, YOU WIDENED YOUR COUCH AND MADE FOR YOURSELF [A COVENANT] WITH THEM; YOU LOVED THEIR COUCH, YOU CHOSE A PLACE.
Israel is sometimes represented as the bride of the God of Israel. When Israel commits idolatry it is as if she committed adultery and btrayed her husband!
9 AND YOU BROUGHT A GIFT TO THE KING WITH OIL, AND YOU INCREASED YOUR PERFUMES; AND YOU SENT YOUR AMBASSADORS FAR OFF, AND YOU HUMBLED THEM TO THE GRAVE.
“PERFUMES” [rikuchaykh”] or “chemical concoctions”.
“AMBASSADORS” [Hebrew root: “Tsir”] or “medicines, chemicals”.
You bribed the king with oil, you increased your chemical activity, you sent your chemical products afar.
Is there a hint here to the present situation?
10 WITH THE LENGTH OF YOUR WAY YOU BECAME WEARIED; YOU DID NOT SAY, "DESPAIR." THE POWER OF YOUR HAND YOU FOUND; THEREFORE, YOU WERE NOT STRICKEN ILL.
YOU BECAME WEARIED "”Yagat” i.e. endeavored.
11 AND WHOM DID YOU DREAD AND FEAR, THAT YOU FAILED, AND YOU DID NOT REMEMBER ME; YOU DID NOT LAY [ME] TO YOUR HEART. INDEED, I AM SILENT AND FROM EVERLASTING, BUT YOU DO NOT FEAR ME.
You went in your ways and feared not God.
12 I TELL YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS AND YOUR DEEDS, AND THEY SHALL NOT AVAIL YOU.
You did do good works and had good intentions BUT these were mixed with other things that should not have been. Your good deeds will not help you when you have to pay the bill for your other attributes.
13 WHEN YOU CRY OUT, LET YOUR COLLECTIONS SAVE YOU; WIND SHALL CARRY ALL OF THEM OFF, A BREATH SHALL TAKE THEM, BUT HE WHO TRUSTS IN ME SHALL INHERIT THE LAND AND SHALL INHERIT MY HOLY MOUNT.
Trust in God and you will be saved.
14 AND HE SHALL SAY, "PAVE, PAVE, CLEAR THE WAY; REMOVE THE OBSTACLES FROM THE WAY OF MY PEOPLE."
15 FOR SO SAID THE HIGH AND EXALTED ONE, WHO DWELLS TO ETERNITY, AND HIS NAME IS HOLY, "WITH THE LOFTY AND THE HOLY ONES I DWELL, AND WITH THE CRUSHED AND HUMBLE IN SPIRIT, TO REVIVE THE SPIRIT OF THE HUMBLE AND TO REVIVE THE HEART OF THE CRUSHED.
16 FOR I WILL NOT CONTEND FOREVER, NEITHER WILL I BE WROTH TO ETERNITY, WHEN A SPIRIT FROM BEFORE ME HUMBLES ITSELF, AND SOULS [WHICH] I HAVE MADE.
God will forgive. He will not always be angry with us.
17 FOR THE INIQUITY OF HIS THIEVERY I BECAME WROTH, AND I SMOTE HIM, I HID MYSELF AND BECAME WROTH, FOR HE WENT REBELLIOUSLY IN THE WAY OF HIS HEART.
18 I SAW HIS WAYS AND I WILL HEAL HIM, AND I WILL LEAD HIM AND REQUITE WITH CONSOLATIONS HIM AND HIS MOURNERS.
19 [I] CREATE THE SPEECH OF THE LIPS; PEACE, PEACE TO THE FAR AND TO THE NEAR," SAYS THE LORD, "AND I WILL HEAL HIM."
People who endeavor to speak well to others, who radiate hope, good feelings, and a positive attitude bring a blessing to the world and to themselves.
It happens that good people suffer. Sometimes they suffer because of their own sins, sometimes for other reasons. If they persist in doing good and believing in God in the end they will be rewarded and comforted.
20 BUT THE WICKED ARE LIKE THE TURBULENT SEA, FOR IT CANNOT REST, AND ITS WATERS CAST UP MUD AND DIRT.
21 "THERE IS NO PEACE," SAYS MY GOD, "FOR THE WICKED."
This could refer to the Oslo Accords and all subsequent "Peace" agreeements!

# Through the offices of the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Israel and the PLO exchanged documents of recognition on September 9, 1993. The PLO letter to Israel renounced terrorism and recognized Israel’s right to live as a sovereign state in the Middle East; Israel’s letter was limited to recognizing the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people. Four days later on the White House lawn, PLO leader Yasir Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin signed a 400-page agreement known as the Oslo Accords. Its objective was to establish Palestinian self-rule over portions of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, lands which Israel had administered and occupied since the June 1967 war. The Oslo Accords were another ‘disengagement agreement,’ whereby Israel transferred territory and powers to an Arab side, this time to the PLO, and in return received a promise of non-violence. In the 1970s Israel reached agreements with Egypt (January 1974 and September 1975) and Syria (May 1974), in which Israel withdrew from territories taken in the June 1967 war in exchange for a commitment to end violence against the Jewish state. The ultimate agreement on disengagement was the 1979 Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty, which resulted in Israel’s return of all of Sinai to Egyptian sovereignty. #
Due to the Oslo Agreements (1993) the Israelis gave guns to the Palestinians and allowed them to receive more arms from other sources. For some reason it was believed (or claimed) that the Palestinians would curb their own extremists. Instead they all revealed themselves to be intransigent fanatics. This was foreseen. It was obvious that things would turn out as they have done. The Palestinian track record and declared intentions were there for all to see.
It would have been better if the “do-gooders” had have helped good people or at least stayed home.
