A. Introduction.
Reigning Monarchs were part of the promises to the Forefathers of the Israelite Nations.
Genesis (NKJV) 17:
6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. ...
15 Then God said to Abraham, 'As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.
16 And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her.'
Genesies (NKJV) 35:
10 And God said to him, 'Your name is Jacob; your name shall not be called Jacob anymore, but Israel shall be your name.' So He called his name Israel. 11 Also God said to him: 'I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body.
We saw that the Hebrew text may be understood to mean that from the descendants of Israel would emerge Kings of several nations ruling parallel to each other.
We also saw that Genesis 35:11 may be understood to say that two entities would emerge, A Nation of Two Tribes, i.e. Judah and Benjamin; and a Group of Ten Tribes, i.e. the Lost Ten Tribes.

:" the Lost Ten Tribes were destined to have kings ruling over them, OR some of the Tribes would have kings ruling over them."

1. Danes and Dan
Ancient traditions and historical findings indicate that the Danes descend from the Tribe of Dan. It was prophesied by Moses that Dan would be in Bashan which came to mean Scandinavia. That is where Denmark is. In the Bible Dan was relatively dominant and so too was Denmark in Scandinavia and even in Northern Europe despite its relatively small size
The Tribe of Dan were known as craftsmen so are the Danes. In Hebrew "Dan" means "Judgment." Personality traits associated with Judgment include challenging conventional understandings while conforming socially; the use of sarcasm and irony; being straightforward; honest; sympathetic; egalitarian values; and so on. Dan was associated with ships, so are the Danes.
The Israelite Tribe of Dan and Denmark even bear the same name "Dan-mark" means "Border [Territory of] Dan." The Tribe of Dan had the habit of naming places they lived in or even just passed through after Dan their father.
Genesis (NKJV) 49:
17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, A viper by the path, That bites the horse's heels So that its rider shall fall backward.
Joshua (NKJV) 19:
47 And the border of the children of Dan went beyond these, because the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem and took it; and they struck it with the edge of the sword, took possession of it, and dwelt in it. They called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father.
Judges (NKJV) 18:
12 Then they went up and encamped in Kirjath Jearim in Judah. (Therefore they call that place Mahaneh Dan to this day. There it is, west of Kirjath Jearim.)
Judges (NKJV) 18:
29 And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born to Israel. However, the name of the city formerly was Laish.

3. Early Davidic Kings over the Tribe of Dan?
The Tribe of Dan in Biblical Times was to be found in different parts of Ancient Israel according to its original Biblical borders. There was an enclave of Dan in the southwest around Jaffa ("Gush Dan"), in the Galilee, and also in Cilicia north of Syria. Even Cyprus was conquered by Dan.
Dan in the Galilee was destroyed in the 800s BCE by attacks from the Aramaean kingdoms to the north. Part of an inscription in Archaic Aramaic has been found on the site of Dan in the Galilee: From what can be understood from this inscription it may be inferred that the Aramaic (Syrian) monarch is stating that formerly the Israelites had been in the land of his father. Guided by the storm god Hadad (a form of Baal) he (i.e. the king of Syria) came against Israel and slew many including a King of Israel who was descended (he says) from the House of David. The Syrian king apparently laid waste to Dan. Dan in the Galilee is known to have been attacked by the Syrian monarch ben Hadad in 815 BCE and after that was unheard of. It may be that an offshoot from the House of David had become a local potentate over the Tribe of Dan.

4. Danes from Dan in Scandinavia and Early Britain.
The Danes when they came to Scandinavia at first dwelt in what is now the southern part of Sweden. Jutland was populated by the Jutes who descend from Judah. When the Angles and Saxons invaded England in the 450s and 500s CE all the Jutes of Jutland and left and joined them. They settled mainly in the south of England (though there some in the north) and Jutland (according to Bede) was left altogether vacant. The Danes from Sweden moved in and took it over. Some of the Danes at that time also joined the Angles and Saxons and others in the conquest what became England and Lowland Scotland. An enclave from the Tribe of Dan ("Danum") is noted by Ptolemy in the north of England as being already there in Celtic Times.

5. Vikings
Vikings is the modern name given to seafaring people primarily from Scandinavia (present-day Denmark, Norway and Sweden), who from the late 8th to the late 11th centuries raided, pirated, traded and settled throughout parts of Europe. They also voyaged as far as the Mediterranean, North Africa, the Middle East, and North America.
Newcomers from Scythia (Russia), Dacia (south east Europe) and Anatolia (present-day Turkey) entered Scandinavia in the 600s CE and amalgamated with the locals. In the 700s to 100s CE Vikings raided western areas and settled in parts of them. Danes from Denmark settled in eastern England. They also established settlements in east Ireland though the Vikings in Ireland mainly came from Norway. Vikings from both Norway and Denmark settled in Normandy (northwest France) and helped create the Norman people. They invaded and conquered England in 1066.

6. Early Danish Rulers.
Denmark was probably a unified country by the 500s CE. Known kings exist from the 700s. The present Queen, Margrethe-2, can trace her lineage back to the Viking kings Gorm the Old (reigned 936-958 CE) and Harald Bluetooth (958-986).
This makes the Monarchy of Denmark to be the oldest in Europe.
Under the rule of King Gudfred in 804 the Kingdom may have included all the major provinces of medieval Denmark.
In 1397, Denmark entered into a personal union with Norway and Sweden (the Klalmar Union). They were united under Queen Margaret-1, of Denmark. The three countries were to be treated as equals in the union but in practice Denmark usually held a position of seniority.
Sweden frequently broke away only to be reconquered. In 1523, the Swedish King Gustav Vasa took control of Sweden, and established an hereditary dynasty, before then it had been elective. He withdrew from the Kalmar Union. Like Sweden the kingship of Denmark was at first elective being chosen from candidates belonging to certain families. By the reign of Frekerick-4 (1648-1670) it became hereditary.
Denmark converted to Lutheranism in 1536. Later that year, Denmark entered into a union with Norway which lasted to 1814. The present monarchs of Norway descend from a dynasty of Danish origin, an offshoot of the Danish Royal House.
In 1853, Prince Christian of Glucksberg [Schleswick, Flensburg, on the Danish-German border], a German Principality, became heir presumptive to the Throne of Denmark. His family was closely related to previous rulers o f Denmark and had been invovled in Danish matters. He married the niece of the previous Danish king.
In 1863 he became Christian-9 as the first Danish monarch of the House of Glucksburg. His grandson became Hakon-7 of Norway. The Danish Royal Family are related to most other reigning European dynasties.
In 1905 Norway separated from Sweden. It then chose the younger son of the Crown Prince of Denmark (i.e. grandson of the reigning king) as its monarch (King Haakon-7 r. 1905- 1957).
The King of Norway (Haakon-7) was at first the grandson of the King of Denmark (Christian-9), when he died he was the son of the King of Denmark (Frederick-8 , 1906-1912). When he too died the King of Norway (Haakon-7) was the brother of the King of Denmark(Christian-10, 1912-1947).
Denmark was long in disputes with Sweden over control of Skanelandene (southern Sweden) and with Prussia over control of the north German areas of Schleswig (a Danish fief) and Holstein (a German fief). In 1864 Denmark was defeated by Prussia and Austria.
Danish regnal names have traditionally (since 1513) alternated between "Frederick" (Frederik) and "Christian".

7. King Christian-10, Symbol of Danish Resistance.
King Christian-10 (born 1870; reigned 1912 to 1947) has been described as authoritarian and he strongly stressed the importance of royal dignity and power. After a crisis (which threatened the monarchy) his role was reduced to that of a symbolic head of state in 1920.
# During the German occupation of Denmark, Christian become a popular symbol of resistance, particularly because of the symbolic value of the fact that he rode every day through the streets of Copenhagen unaccompanied by guards. With a reign spanning two world wars, and his role as a rallying symbol for Danish national sentiment during the German occupation, he became one of the most popular Danish monarchs of modern times. King Christian X was known to parade through town on his horse, Jubilee. #

8. The Jews in Denmark and the Grandfather of Yair Davidiy.
After the Danish Lutheran Reformation in 1536, Jews along with Catholics were prohibited entry into Denmark. Over time this was relaxed and a few Sephardic Jewish families were allowed to settle. After that came Ashkenazic Jews in the 1680s and by the 1760 a community of 1,500 existed in Denmark admission tot h country being granted on the basis of wealth.
Leo Jacoby (aka Joseph Levi) the grandfather on his mother's side of Yair Davidiy was born in Denmark. His father was a violinist who according to my mother had been appointed to the King of Denmark. The king intended was probably Frederick-7 (r. 1906-1912) though it may have been Christian-9 (1863-1906).
Leo Jacoby moved to England as a young man and became an importer of silks and fine fabrics from France. He married my grandmother who was a Jewess from Alsace in France. Leo served in WW1 in the British Forces as a liason officer between the British and the French at Gallipoli in Turkey.
Before the outbreak of War in 1939 he helped Jewish refugees from Germany settle in England.

9. Rabbi Moshe Menachem Yaakovson, his family, the Jews, and the King of Denmark.
A teacher, mentor, and family friend of Yair Davidiy in Israel was Rabbi Moshe Menachem Yaakovson, Rabbi of the township Be'er Yaakov, and founder of the Be'er Ya'akov Seminar for Girls. He was the son of Rabbi Benjamin Jakobson.
Rabbi Benjamin Jakobson together with Rabbi Shlomo Wolbe (1914-2005), a famous Hareidi Jewish Philosopher, had been in Denmark from before the War years. Later both Rabbi Wolbe and Rabbi Benjamin Jakobson were to move to Be'er Yaacov in Israel.
Rabbi Moshe Menachem Yaakovson grew up in Denmark and Sweden. He relates that while in Denmark before the war his father served as Rabbi of a Jewish community in Denmark. In the early morning before the Morning Prayer Service, for the sake of his health, he would walk around the Central Park in Copenhagen. King Christian-10, the monarch of Denmark, would ride alone on his house around the park at the same time. At first the two exchanged greetings then they would stop and talk. Every year the King would send the Rabbi a greeting card just before the Jewish New Year. When the Germans occupied Denmark the King helped the Jews of Denmark.
In the period leading up to WW2 the Danish Government had strictly refused the admission of Jewish refugees fleeing from German though a few did enter. The Danish Government Danish government had capitulated to the Germans in April, 1940, exchange for retaining political independence in domestic matters. The Occupation of Denmark lasted until 5 May 1945.
According to a 1942 British report the King of Denmark threatened to wear the Star of David if this was forced upon Danish Jews. It was not.
There were about 8000 Jews in Denmark at the time. In 1943 Werner Best, the German plenipotentiary in Denmark, ordered the arrest and deportation of all Danish Jews, scheduled to commence on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. The Jewish Danes were warned and 7,550 fled to Sweden where they remained for the duration of the War as guests of Sweden acting on the request of the Danish authorities.
[The Swedes also deserve credit for this having well beforehand voluntarily expressed their willingness to host Danish Jews ]. 500 Danish Jews were deported to Germany to the Theresienstadt concentration camp. Most of these were also rescued.
# Danish authorities often interceded on their behalf (as they did for other Danes in German custody), sending food. Of the 500 Jews who were captured, approximately 50 died during deportation. Danes rescued the rest and they returned to Denmark in what was regarded as a patriotic duty against the Nazi occupation. Many non-Jewish Danes protected their Jewish neighbours' property and homes while they were gone. # .
Over 99% of Denmark's Jewish population survived the Holocaust.
The Rescue of the Jews of Denmark has aspects illustrative of the Character of the Israelite Tribe of Dan and the Danes of Denmark. This is discussed further on below.
There is no real anti-Semitism among native Danes in Denmark. There is however some support for the Palestinians and against Israel. Also Muslim immigrants to Denmark have been responsible for terrorist attackers on Jewish individuals and properties.
The Jewish community is diminishing in numbers. About 6,000 are left most of whom are secular.

10. The Danish Monarchy Today.
The present monarch of Denmark is Margreth-2 (b. 1940, r. 1972 - ). She is the daughter of Frederick-9 of Denmark and Ingrid of Sweden, and grand-daughter of Christian-10. Her husband is Henri de Laborde de Monpezat, a French nobleman. She is keen on archaeology and has participated in excavations in Italy, Egypt, Denmark and South America. The Queen is also an accomplished painter and designer. Support for the monarchy in Denmark is high.
The heir apparent of Denmark is Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark, Count of Monpezat (b. 1968). He married an Australian citizen, Mary Elizabeth Donaldson. They have 4 children.
The Kingdom of Denmark includes Denmark proper, as well as the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
According to the constitution, the ultimate executive authority over the government of Denmark is still by and through the monarch's royal reserve powers; in practice these powers are only used according to laws enacted in Parliament or within the constraints of convention. The monarch is, in practice, limited to non-partisan functions such as bestowing honours and appointing the prime minister. The monarch and his or her immediate family undertake various official, ceremonial, diplomatic and representational duties.

11. Denmark at Present.
Denmark has ca. 6 million people (cf. Sweden with 10 million, Norway with 5.5 million.

# Denmark has a developed mixed economy that is classed as a high-income economy by the World Bank. In 2017, it ranked 16th in the world in terms of gross national income (PPP) per capita and 10th in nominal GNI per capita. Denmark's economy stands out as one of the most free in the Index of Economic Freedom and the Economic Freedom of the World. It is the 10th most competitive economy in the world, and 6th in Europe, according to the World Economic Forum in its Global Competitiveness Report 2018.
# Denmark has the fourth highest ratio of tertiary degree holders in the world. The country ranks highest in the world for workers' rights. GDP per hour worked was the 13th highest in 2009.
Major industries include wind turbines, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, machinery and transportation equipment, food processing, and construction. Circa 60% of the total export value is due to export of goods, and the remaining 40% is from service exports, mainly sea transport. The country's main export goods are: wind turbines, pharmaceuticals, machinery and instruments, meat and meat products, dairy products, fish, furniture and design Denmark is a net exporter of food and energy and has for a number of years had a balance of payments surplus which has transformed the country from a net debitor to a net creditor country. By 1 July 2018, the net international investment position (or net foreign assets) of Denmark was equal to 64.6% of GDP.

12. Dan the Judge.
The name Dan in Hebrew means "judge." A facet of the Tribal Characteristics of Dan was Judgment. Everything had to be in order, according to set forms of arrangement and legal enactments.
We finds this among the Danes and the Constitutional History of their monarchies.
We also find it in their treatment of the Jews in WW2.
When the Germans first occupied Denmark there were Jews who wanted to flee or to hide.
The Danish authorities and populace gave them the following message:
# Do not panic. Do not take individual decisions. It causes confusion and lack of order. It might precipitate German action earlier than otherwise intended. We will take responsibility for your safety. Trust in us. #
Indeed when the time came the whole Danish community as one body took all the Jews, put them on ships, and sent them to Sweden.
They asked Sweden to hold itself responsible to Denmark for their safekeeping for the duration of the War.
This displays a positive characteristic of Dan, order, legality, responsibility, and if necessary holding others responsible.
A researcher, Elsebet Jegstrup ("Spontaneous Action..." Humbolt Journal of Social Relations, Vol. 13. 1 & 2), says that the attack on Danish Jews was considered by the Danes to be an attack on fellow Danes, against Danish Law, and an abuse of Danish social and political principles. It is obvious that other motives were also involved. Nevertheless it is interesting that the Principle of Danish Law was invoked. This is an aspect of the character of the Tribe of Dan. The Tribe of Dan is the Israelite Tribe that the Danes belong to.
We see from the above that the Danes considered the Jews of Judah as equal citizens to themselves with the same rights and therefore to be protected.
This was hinted at in the Torah.
Jacob blessed Dan:
Genesis 49:
16 Dan shall judge his people As one of the Tribes of Israel...
The Commentator Kli Yakar (Rabbi Shlomo Ephraim ben Aaron Luntschitz, 1550 -1619, Prague) commented:
# Dan was not prejudiced in favor of his own Tribe but rather judged it equally with other Tribes, for the near and far were equal in his eyes. #
