The 7 October 2023 was both a Shabat and a Feast Day. It was the day of Shmini Atseret ("Eighth Day of Assembly") and Simchat Torah ("Joy of the Torah"). This day, after Yom Kippeur and Rosh HaShanah, has the longest prayers of all Jewish Holidays.
The service can last anywhere from 4 to 7 hours including a 20 to 30 minute to eat and drink "kugle" (a kind of casserole) and soft drink. The service can take so long since it involves every participant making a blessing over a portion of the Torah and hearing it read out. Apart from that the participants carry Torah Scrolls around the synagogue and dance before  and with them.  This a Jewish Orthodox service so all the participants are males while the women stay at home or come to watch from the womens section.

I had been invited by a friend to come and pray at his synagogue. Our city is comprised by about 90% or more Hasidim. This differers from other places, like Jerusalem, where religious and less-religious neighborhoods adjoin and intermerge with each other. Where we are on a Holy Day no-one turns the TV and/or radio  or opens up the Internet.
Where we were, early on in the Synagogue Serrvive the sirens outside wailed the warning of a rocket attack.  People huddled together in the protected area of the building and then came out. This happened a few times. At one stage a few people hurried out to look up at the sky. I followed them.  An Iron Dome Protective Rocket blew up an alien projectile. Unlike others it did not see it happen but heard the "Boom." In the afternoon I met one of my sons who lives nearby. He had heard a report in the name of a female Phiipinne caretaker of an elderly women that Israel was at war. Thousands of Arabs had invaded in the south. Many settlements had been overrun, Jews killed and taken hostage. At the end of the Shabath we rang a mutual acquaintance who gave us more details. He himself had downloaded Hamas news clips showing what they had done and were doing as described below. These clips are still in existence but they are not longer publicly accessible.

2. List of Settlements were massacres took place.
Wikipedia.
Hamas militants raided many settlements and kibbutzim in the Gaza periphery area of Israel, and carried out massacres in Nahal Oz, Holit, Nir Oz, Netiv HaAsara Be'eri, and Kfar Aza, as well as a massacre at a music festival near Re'im in which at least 260 people were murdered.

3. Religious Settlements Saved.
An attempts were made by Hams to overrun the only two religious settlements in the area but since it was Shabat the entrance gates  were closed and the armed sentries drove the Hamas attackers  away killing some of them.

2,900 Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israel on day of massacre
Oct 16, 2023

2,900 terrorists infiltrated Israel on the morning of October 7, as Jews in Israel celebrated the Simchat Torah holiday. The terrorists infiltrated Israel in two waves, Channel 12 News reported.
Half of these terrorists (1,500) were armed operatives of the Islamic Jihad and Hamas terrorist groups. The other 1,400 were Gazan "civilians" who entered Israel in order to harm Israelis and plunder their belongings.
An uncertain number of victims of Hamas are still unaccounted for whether dead, or abducted.

5. Kidnappings. Wikipedia Extracts.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kidnappings_during_the_2023_Israel%E2%80%93Hamas_war

In the initial wave of attacks, the militants kidnapped civilians and brought them back to Gaza as captives. According to statements by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, about 130 civilians and soldiers were kidnapped during the raid on the Gaza periphery settlements. Israel's military said at least 199 people had been taken hostage.

Video analysis from The Washington Post shows that some of the captives were executed after their capture.

Some of the kidnapped are foreign nationals including from Germany, Russia, United Kingdom, and the United States.11 Thai citizens working in greenhouses in the Gaza periphery were also kidnapped. Nepal confirmed seven of its citizens who are university students were kidnapped in Herzliya and ten more Nepalis in Alumim were abducted. Italy announced that 10 of its citizens were kidnapped and brought to Gaza, including a one-year-old baby.[citation needed] At least one Filipino was abducted.

On 13 October, Hamas released a video of kidnapped children being trained to utter Islamic phrases in return for being allowed to drink, with a Hamas member saying to a child hostage "say 'bismillah' (in the name of Allah)." before drinking a cup of water and the child repeats "bismillah."

On 14 October, Hamas claimed that nine hostages had been killed over a 24-hour period due to Israeli airstrikes.

6. Hamas Films its Own Abominations.

Hamas posts films of its abominations against Jews.
Israel together with a consortium of International Leading Internet Providers blocks Hamas clips of their own attrocities.
In the early days of the war this censorship was less effective.
Many Israelis managed to download the clips from Hamas.
A Brit-Am sympathizer who works with computers was among they who managed to download what Hamas was posting.

Hamas has posted the following clips:
Israeli Girl raped by Arabs and filmed and the film sent on her phone to her mother.
Captive Israeli Women were paraded naked through Gaza and filmed.
Abducted Jewish boy (about 10 years old) being beaten up in public by a horde of Arab youngsters.
Babies murdered.

Additional reports:
Babies beheaded.
Babies burnt.alive.
Parents murdered in front of children, children in front of parents. Rapes.
Live fetus ripped from belly of Israeli woman and shot.
These are not exaggerations, if anything they are downplayed to avoid negative psychological reactions.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
7. Traumatization.
This is part of Hamas strategy to traumatize Israelis.
Hamas is the one who does the filming and puts them up on the Internet. Israel wants the facts to be known but prefers that filming not be shown out of respect for the dead and in order not to traumatize the population.

As a result of the war:
Even now in Israel many are afraid to go outside.
Young girls are afraid to be left alone in the house.
Elderly people ask their grown-pup children to come and stay with them since Hamas has been targeting the elderly and helpless.
Health services in Israel are provided by three or four major private corporations working in tandem with government authorities.
By now, every Israeli citizen will probably have received at least one phone call offering counsel from his own Health Service Authority in the event of Anxiety.

8. Terrorists still at large?
18 October 2003.

One lone exhausted terrorist was found in the Gaza area of Israel trying to get back into Gaza.

9. A Coming Scandal in the IAF?
The IAF (Israel Air Force) reportedly delayed its reaction by 6 hours instead of 6 minutes.. When the war has died down somewhat an explanation for this delay will be required.

10.  Arab Insiders in Israel working for Hamas?
(a) The massacre at the "Supernova Sukkot Gathering" dance music festival  resulted in ca. 260 killed, or raped and then  killed,  and an uncertain number of hostages.
The location had been kept secret until the last minute when only the attendees with tickets were informed by phone. Nevertheless the attack appears to have been prepared beforehand.

(b) One of the settlements that was overrun had had a local Arab worker. This person had been a handyman for years on the settlement, a jack-of-all trades, and an acquaintance of everyone.
Notes originating from this person had been found in the possession of Hamas. They listed every house, the number of inhabitants in  the house, and numerous details such as whether or not the home kept a dog or not.

(c) MP Avigdor Lieberman pointed out that the phenomenon mentioned above (a) was repeated in all the settlements. There was an initial attack by 1500 to 2000 trained "professional" terrorists. On their heels came a crowd of about 1,500 ordinary Gaza  "citizens" who entered the settlements to steal and loot. These Lieberman asserted were Arab workers from Gaza who had formerlty been employed in those same places! This second wave of "invaders" has been blamed by the "professional" first wave of the atrocities. This is not true BUT in a few cases it might be. So too a minority of the Hostages taken may have been abducted by "Private" individuals in the secnond wave. That is what you call "Free Enterprise" Arab style.

11. Quora Question: Did Hamas kill its own people at the hospital then blame the Israelis?
Answer by:Michael Davison
 Extract:

Did Hamas kill its own people at the hospital then blame the Israelis?

Why is this surprising? Statistically, between 15% and 20% of the rockets launched at Israel fail to clear the Gaza Strip.

For example in the conflict during May, 2021, 680 of the 4300 rockets launched at Israel fell within the Gaza Strip:

As of yesterday, the number of failed rockets over the past 11 days is more than 450, all landing within the Gaza Strip. While Hamas has hidden these 'shortfalls' and blamed Israel for ALL the dead and wounded in the Strip, in both conflicts, by the law of averages, sooner or later a failed launch would kill too many Palestinians too publicly for it to be covered up.

12. Quora Question:
Does the Hamas charter call for the killing of people?
Answer by Matt Chanoff.
Article 7 (of Hamas Charter quoting a revered Islamic source): 'The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: 'O Moslem, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.'

Hamas has claimed that 13 of the Israeli hostages were killed in the recent Israeli air stribke. They claim that ca. 500 Palestinian children were also killed.
We do not know how many of the ca. 150 Israeli hiostages taken into Gaza are still are alive. Some of them were recorded (and even filmed) as having been killed shortly after their captivity.

14. 250 More Bodies Discovered in Israel's South: Report

https://www.algemeiner.com/2023/10/19/250-more-bodies-discovered-in-israels-south-report/
The bodies of at least 250 more Israelis have been found near communities along the Gaza border, according to the Kann news channel.

A military officer in charge of finding and removing bodies of Israelis told journalist Hadas Grinberg that the new victims were discovered after an Israeli Air Force plane flew over the area and provided the location of the dead to medical and security teams.

The bodies, the report says, have not yet been evacuated. Israeli medical and security forces are currently responding.

Separately, Israeli officials announced Thursday that more than 200 people are confirmed to be hostages in Gaza, while between 100-200 more remain missing.

While many of the hostages are in hands of Hamas, others were likely kidnapped by private citizens who 'identify with Hamas,' according to Kann.

Hamas, Oct. 7 attack against Israel left more than 1,400 dead.

"In the past, people in Scotland and across the UK have opened our hearts and our homes. We've welcomed those from Syria, from Ukraine, and many other countries. Conference, we must do so again," Yousaf said in a clip of his speech he shared on X. "There are currently 1 million people displaced within Gaza. So therefore I'm calling today on the international community to commit to a worldwide refugee program for the people of Gaza. I'm calling on the U.K. government to take two urgent steps."

"Firstly, they should immediately begin work on the creation of a refugee resettlement scheme for those in Gaza who want to and of course are able to leave. And when they do so, Scotland is willing to be the first country in the UK to offer safety and sanctuary to those who are caught up in these terrible attacks," he continued.
