see Saturn and Sambation.
If Baal is represented by Saturn then worshiping on Saturnday (Saturday) is holy how?
Brit-Am Reply:
Saturday is the Sabbath. God Almighty sanctified the Sabbath. It is forbidden to imitate the pagans in worshiping God or to be influenced by them:
Deuteronomy (NASB) 12:
28 Be careful and listen to all these words which I am commanding you, so that it may go well for you and your sons after you forever, for you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the LORD your God.
29 When the LORD your God cuts off from you the nations which you are going in to dispossess, and you dispossess them and live in their land, 30 be careful that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from your presence, and that you do not inquire about their gods, saying, 'How do these nations serve their gods, that I also may do likewise?' 31 You shall not behave this way toward the LORD your God, because every abominable act which the LORD hates, they have done for their gods; for they even burn their sons and daughters in the fire for their gods.
32 'Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take anything away from it.
If however the pagans copy what we do or adapt it to themselves then that has nothing to do with us.
The whole point of our talk was to show how the pagans had re-interpreted their awareness of contemporary Israelites ( in their time) and formulated it in their terms. Since the historical record of these events no longer exists (outside hints in the Bible) we can refer to the pagan sources and in the light of additional information reconstruct what happened. We are not copying the pagans in this but rather taking back a consciousness of our own past that was lost to us. Even here however we have to put together a coherent picture from bits and pieces of relevent evidence since since the early Christians destroyed most of the pagan records. Those they did not destroy they neglected to preserve so what is left to us is what can be pieced together from a smattering of sources.
More on the above.
We do not know why the pagans identified Saturday with Saturn. It may have been for astrological reasons. The idol Saturn was identified with the planet Saturn who was considered the last of the Seven Plants easily visible to the human eye. Saturn was at the edge of the Constellation as they consdiered it and Saturday is at the end of the weekly cycle of 7 days.
Saturday in the Bible was the Shabat, the day of rest. This was the 7th day BUT any day on which work was prohibtted could also be referred to as a "Shabat" e.g. the Day of Atonnement (Yom Kippur) is also called a Shabat cf. Leviticus 23:32.
Saurday in Hebrew is Shabat i.e. Sabbath. The very name Shabat means sitting or stopping from the root "ShBT." On Shabat we stop working. This has nothing to do with paganism. If the pagans also wanted to attribute qualities to Saturday that has nothing to do with us.
Genesis (NASB) 2:
2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it He rested from all His work which God had created ]and made.
Exodus (NASB) 20:
8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 For six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the LORD your God; on it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male slave or your female slave, or your cattle, or your resident who stays with you. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and everything that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day; for that reason the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
Exodus (NASB) 31:
12 Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 13 Now as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, You must keep My Sabbaths; for this is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, so that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you. 14 Therefore you are to keep the Sabbath, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it must be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15 For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the LORD; whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death. 16 So the sons of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to celebrate the Sabbath throughout their generations as a permanent covenant. 17 It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed.
cf. Nehemiah 13:17-19.
The Sabbath was a "sign between Me and you throughout your generations" (Exodus 31:12).
Non-Israelites were not obliged to observe the Shabat. In fact they were forbidden to do so in the full sense.
Descendants of the Lost Ten Tribes who are not Jewish in the religious sense nowadays are technically not obligated by the Law. In the future this will change.
There are therefore not obligated to keep the Sabbath.
At least that is the situation at present.
We all need to pray and learn and ask for understanding from the Almighty.
