Secularization

 The Turks are a mixture of peoples. Today most identify as Sunni Muslims. These comprise about 70-75% of the population. From the 1920s a secularizing movmeent existed and alcohol was permitted. Today the Turkish People are becoming more observant but the effects of Secularization are still present. .
Recep Tayyip Erdogan (pronounced "Erdowan") President since 2014 caters to Islamic extremism.  Homogenizing attitudes and policies are encouraged. Minorities are discriminated against.

Religious Minorities

Minorities in Turkey include descedants of the Original Turks from Central Asia who today comprise about 10 per cent  of the population.  They usually belong to the Alevis and other Shia denominations of the Muslim population, as distinct from the Sunni majority.  Alevis practice a distinct tradition incorporating Anatolian cultural elements and worship.  They feel discriminated against by the other Turkish groups.

Lydians and Tuscans of Italy

Tuscan people in Italy were closest to Turkish population in terms of genetic similarity.The Tuscans relate to the Ancient Etruscans who settled in the Northwest of central Italy. A tradition related by the Greek historian Heroodotus says that the Etruscans descend from the Ancient Lydians. (The Bible lists the descendants of Lud son of Shem).  ^his has been confirmed in part by genetic studies. Even the cattle used in Tuscany Italy may be traced by DNA back to Anatolia in Turkey!

Thrace - Edom or Canaan?

Phyrgia at one stage was conquered by the Cimmerians who comprised or included a section of yjr Lost TRen Tribes. The Cimmerians shortly afterwards moved to Western and Northern Europe.

Galatia related to the Galatians a portion of whom settled in France.

Cilicia - Dan and Judah.

Cilicia in Biblical Times was settled by elements from the Tribes of Dan and Judah. Mist of these moved out and joined up with the rest of the Lost Ten Tribes who migrated to North and Western Europe..

Numerous peoples traversed Turkey which nevertheless is overwhelmingly dominated by only a few DNA haplogroups.
Haplogroup R1b and J2 are especially predominant. They were usually found together.
