Why do Hasidic Jews all seem to have black hair?
In other words, I never seen someone in a Hasidic costume that had noticably blond hair.

Answer:
Hasidim, and Hareidim in general, do not really pay much attention as to what color hair a person has. They have other matters to occupy themselves with. I however come from a different background so occasionally I observe variations in hirsute hues. Like Jews in most places one may say that a dark brunette tint prevails. Nevertheless, you can find heads of all colors, black, brown, red, and yellow, among them. Hasidim to some degree stick together. They marry within their own circles. Different types may therefore come to dominate specific groups. In the region of Mea Shearim and its surroundings in Jerusalem you can go into one synagogue and find nearly everyone there with black hair. Go into another such establishment and many will be blond. In the praying place next door beards of red hair may seem to predominate. Once you begin to take notice of such matters it becomes interesting.
