What's the difference between Judah and Judas? In hebrew the word "Yehudah" represents both of the names. Why does it have two different spellings in English?

Judah and Judas are both forms of the Hebrew name "Yehudah." In the NT one has the figure known as "Judas Iscariot." I suppose that in order to distinguish between Judas and Judah (the forefather of the Jews) Christians took to using "Judas" and "Judah" as separate names.
