The Romans used the name ‘Syria Palaestina’ for the former area of Judea.
This was after they had defeated and destroyed Judea and were exiling its Jewish inhabitants.
They wished to erase the memory of Jewish presence from the region.
The enmies of the Jews today are continuing this policy.
"Syria Palaestina " means "Philistia (Philistine Land) in Syria." Henceforth the region became known as Palestine or its equivalent.
Literally however the name is derived from a Latin rendition of the term for Philistine.
In Biblical Terms we may use the term "Philistine" as referring to the Palestinians since this is what they call themselves and what they are known by.
Prophecy tells us:
Isaiah 11:
13 Then the jealousy of Ephraim will depart,
And those who harass Judah will be cut off;
Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah,
And Judah will not harass Ephraim.
14 They will swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines on the west. Together...
Notice the last verse (11:14), "They [i.e. Ephraim and Judah together] swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines on the west..."
In Hebrew it says "va-afu be-kataf Plishtim Yamah yachdav..."
In Hebrew this may be taken to read:
# Together, they [i.e. Ephraim and Judah] will cause to fly by wing the Palestinians to the west... #
Will they be flown to Bavaria? or someplace else?
