# Last week, the International Mineralogical Association recognized carmeltazite as a new, distinct mineral. The mineral was named after Mount Carmel where it was found and the elements it contains - Titanium, Aluminum and Zirconium. #
The area the new stone was found in is usually ascribed to Zebulon. Nevertheless identifications of Biblical Place-names are only approximations. Place-names moved from one area to another. Zebulon was closely associated with his brother Issachar. According to Rabbinicial sources the two Tribes co-operated closely with each other. At all events the area in question was either within the area of Issachar or close by it.
According to the Midrash the precious stone of Issachar was a saphirie of a dark bluish color.
The newly discovered stone known as as a "Carmeltazite" is also a type of sapphire.
Was the Carmeltazite really the peculiar stone of Issachar?
Is there any significance in its recent discovery and present commercial development?
