1. Query from Craig White re Edward-1 and the Stone of Scone

Subject: Question re Edward I and the Stone of Scone
Do you have any references regarding Edward 1 and why he was interested in the Stone of Scone? Also I understand a genealogy for Edward 1 was created that took him back to King David [I assume that this is different to the one the Queen Victoria had?]. Have you seen this or have copy of same?
I do not know but I assume that since the stone was representative of Royalty and Edward had claims to rulership over Scotland then he would have wanted it.
Also, the Stone represented the dream that Jacob had in which he was promised world dominion. This too was of importance.
As you suggest since Edward claimed to be descended from David then what pertained to Jacob would have been pertinent to himself.
This relates to monarchy.
The monarchic mind set is different.
Outsiders tend to overlook this.
I was brought up in Australia whose citizens acknowledge the British monarch as head of state, my parents grew up in Britain and always admired the Royal Family, I myself am highly sympathetic to it, etc. Nevertheless even for me it takes some getting used to.
New members of the armed forces in Britain do not swear loyalty to the State. Instead they pledge allegiance to the Queen and her heirs.
I can give over loads of information showing the Lost Ten Tribes to be amongst the British and kin.
But what really excites them?
A possible tenuous connection of the Royal Family to King David through the legendary (perhaps new existent) figure of Tea Tephi and the like!
This gets them going. This is what they want.
Forget Biblical Proof and hard facts about physical ancestry.
Give them something about the Queen and her ancestors.
Edward-1 is mentioned in our article:
THE LADDER OF JACOB AND THE STONE OF SCONE
According to Hollingshed's Chronicles:
"When our king (Edward-i) went forth to see the mountains [of Scotland], and understanding that all was at peace and quiet, he turned to the Abbey of Scone which was of chanons regular, where he took the stone, called the Regal of Scotland, upon which the kings of that nation were wont to sit at the time of their coronation for a throne, and sent it to the Abbey of Westminster. The Scots claim that this was the stone whereon Jacob slept when he fled to Mesopotamia".
Concerning King David we just came across the following passage concerning John Hawkins who together with Francis Drake helped lay the foundations for British maritime pre-eminence:
# It was part of daily routine on Hawkins's ships as one of his crewmen later remembered, "And everyone would recite the Psalms of David ... in the English tongue". #
