Chalom,
I'm looking about informations about last tribes in India.
In fact, my mother family comes from India and doesnt work on Saturdays and eat kosher meat, but they were christians.
They lived in Calcutta before coming to La Re'union, a french Island in Indian Ocean.
My grand mother name was DANDIAL Bihasse.
Now my mother want to follow judaism, my father religion.
Is it possible that her family come from last tribe of Israel?

Brit-Am Reply:
Shalom,
India is not our field.
There is an organization, Shavei Israel,
http://www.shavei.org/
These people search for the Lost Ten Tribes in India, Afghanistan, Burma, etc.
We disagree with them but they are well-organized, well-funded, well-staffed, and much bigger than us. They also do some good.
There were Jewish groups throughout India. There were also Indians who adopted Jewish customs.
In addition, there were Nestorian Christians who settled in India especially Kerala but also elsewhere.
Some of these Nestorians kept many Jewish customs and may have considered themselves Israelites.
God bless you
Yair

2. Brit-Am/Hebrew Nations Request

Shalom,
We are in need of funds to function, meet obligations, and keep going.
We have the potential to uncover more information of great value concerning the identity of the Lost Ten Tribes amongst Western peoples.
The existing knowledge is also trueful and convincing when properly presented.
This is what we have been doing. The message has been going out and has had effects.
Much more could be done and the means to do it may well open up to us.
We need your input and assistance and financial backing.
This is a God-given work. We believe that they who help us shall be blessed because of it and through it.
It is also what is needed.
It proves the Bible, enhances Biblical understanding, and leads to an acceptance of Biblical values.
May the God of Israel bless all of you,
Yair Davidiy

Brit-Am Reply:
The Lost Ten Tribes had originally practised the religion now called Judaism as it then was.
This in essentials, on a day to day basis, may not have been much different than it is now.
The Ten Tribes  however after separating from Judah quickly synthesized pagan practices and notions of their own imagining with what they had received.
From the beginning the Ten Tribes practice may  have been more dependent  on the leadership and example of their leading classes than we are today.
There are indications that the majority were not literate.
Canaanite practices and beliefs in some ways were not much different from their own.
They intermixed with Canaanites and learnt their ways.
At some stage they also ceased to practise circumcision etc.
Even before their exile their level of Hebrew consciousness may not have been high.
