The remains at Horvat Tevet shed light on the rise and fall of the powerful Omride dynasty, which ruled over the northern kingdom of Israel 2,900 years ago
Extracts:
It turns out that the most prominent remains in the complex date back to the Iron Age and were constructed during the time of the Omrides. This dynasty ruled over the northern Kingdom of Israel in the 9th century B.C.E., and is known for building imposing palaces at other major biblical sites like Megiddo, Jezreel and their capital, Samaria.
These storage jars are known to have been part of the royal administrative system that redistributed food and other goods throughout the kingdom, and have been found at other Omride strongholds, such as Megiddo, Jezreel, and Rehov, in the Beth-Shean Valley. What is notable is that while a few dozens of these jars have been found at each of these large urban settlements, at the much smaller rural complex of Horvat Tevet they appeared in the hundreds.
.... The Israelite kingdom recovered relatively quickly from the Aramean blow, retaking control of the Jezreel Valley and expanding into territories ranging as far as modern Syria and Sinai.

Extracts:
Water harvesting, flood control and water storage were essential for the survival of the Nabataeans in the arid area of Petra, which is modern day Jordan. One of the driest countries on the planet, the early settlers there had to invent novel ideas to survive. They brought in engineers from afar, Rome probably, and built aqueducts and a water storage system that might be even able to produce drinkable water by today's standards.
... "I myself discovered a lot of features which did not fulfill their duties and were heavily damaged during their first strain and had to be rebuilt afterwards," Bellwald noted, adding that very close similarities with other hydraulic installations in Rome and mainly in the Ionian cities, like Pergamon, lead him to the conclusion that the Nabataean authorities employed engineers from abroad and then adopted and further developed the basic expertise.

This may be surprising, but the largest ethnic group is likely not German.
In fact, the largest European ethnic group in America is very likely still British Americans, more specifically, the English.
Demographers regard the reported number of English Americans as a serious undercount, as the index of inconsistency is high and many if not most Americans from English stock have a tendency to identify simply as "Americans" or if of mixed European ancestry, identify with a more recent and differentiated ethnic group. The 'American' response is highly overrepresented in the Upland South, a region settled historically by the English and Scotch-Irish.
In the 1980 Census, over 49 million (49,598,035) Americans claimed English ancestry. At 26.34%, this was the largest group amongst the 188 million people who reported at least one ancestry. The population was 226 million which would have made the English ancestry group 22% of the total.
There also exists are significant portion of Scotch-Irish Americans who mostly identify as just 'American' along with the English. Scotch-Irish Americans are for the most part descendants of Lowland Scots and Northern English (specifically - County Durham, Cumberland, Northumberland and Yorkshire) settlers who colonized the Ulster Plantation in the 17th century. It's estimated the number of Scotch-Irish, combined with Scots, is about 30 million.
Given these facts, we can safely say that the top five European ethnic groups in the United States are:
English
German
Scotch-Irish
Irish
Italian
Ryan Taylors, studies at St. Stanislaus College (2026)
In the 2016 American Community Survey, German Americans (13.9%), Irish Americans (10.0%), English Americans (7.4%), Italian Americans (5.2%), and Polish Americans (3%) were the five largest self-reported European ancestry groups in the United States forming over a third of the total population.
