1. Why Netanyahu, The Churchill Of Our Time, Must Speak Before Congress by Steve Forbes
http://www.forbes.com/fdc/welcome_mjx.shtml
Extracts:
It is fitting and proper 'indeed essential for our very security' that Speaker John Boehner has extended an invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin 'Bibi' Netanyahu to address Congress on Iran and its efforts to develop nuclear weapons and the missiles to deliver them anywhere in the world. The invitation has bipartisan support because many members on both sides of the aisle recognize the fundamental threat to world peace that a nuclear-armed Iran would pose. Like Winston Churchill in the 1930s with Nazi Germany, Netanyahu has been sounding the alarm about Iran's ominous nuclear and terrorist activities.
It's a message much of Europe and even segments of the US, particularly in the Obama administration, don't want to hear. The President has made clear his intense dislike of Israel's prime minister and his refusal to keep quiet about Obama's desire to conclude a Neville Chamberlain-like deal with Teheran. In a flagrant interference in another country's election, Obama operatives are working hard in Israel to help bring down the courageous Prime Minister.
Congress needs to hear first-hand the truth about what Iran is doing and the dreadful implications of those activities.
Thanks to US leadership, the ever-harder sanctions imposed over the years had taken a politically damaging toll on the Iranian economy. The mullahs agreed to sit down with the US and Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany to come up with an agreement ostensibly to get Iran to back off its nuclear ambitions. Iran's agenda was simple: get the sanctions eased, and then with a loophole-ridden treaty, get them removed altogether.
The basic problem is that the Obama administration wants a deal, any deal, with Teheran and the other parties to the talks are willing to go along in order to snag business contracts with Iran, oblivious to the implications of a radical regime that will be in the position to get the Bomb any time it wants.
The Iranian government, despite the immense corruption of many of its leaders, is a revolutionary regime. Its actions over the years demonstrate that the rhetoric of its officials is more than just hot air. Iran is terror central. It bankrolls and provides arms to Hamas, Hezbollah and all sorts of Islamic terrorists organizations. If the US tacitly concedes its resignation to Iran becoming a nuclear power, then other countries will follow suite in creating their own nukes, including Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Ominously Iran has apparently developed an intercontinental ballistic missile that can reach not only Israel but also Europe. It won't be many years before the mullahs can aim nuclear tipped missiles against the US. No surprise, the current negotiations don't cover Iranian missile development.
Another factor Obama and his appeasement-minded minions willfully ignore is the existential threat Iran poses to Israel. Given the size of the Jewish state, it has no room for error. A nuclear-armed Iran will put Israeli leaders in a dangerous, hair-trigger situation. Israel is a crucial US ally, strategically and morally. It is the only durable democracy in the Mideast. With only 8 million people, Israel has surpassed the European Union, with a population of over 400 million, in high technology, rivaling Silicon Valley. It was born from the ashes of the Holocaust. The destruction of Israel would mean, ultimately, the end of Western civilization; the moral rot that would permit such an event would be just about impossible to surmount.
It is not only Israel that is appalled by what Iran is up to. When Israel very nearly undertook preemptive action against Teheran in 2012, countries such as Saudi Arabia were remarkably open about their support for Israeli military actions that would destroy or cripple Iran's nuclear facilities.
And spin to the contrary, an agreement will be a surrender. For all intents and purposes, Iran will be allowed to make a nuclear device any time it wishes. Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry will proclaim that if Teheran goes to make the Bomb, the US will have plenty of time to stop them before the Iranians can actually do it. Nonsense. It is has already crossed a very difficult threshold on uranium enrichment. The mullahs are moving ahead on the plutonium front. Teheran has brazenly blocked the International Atomic Energy Agency from access to its nuclear installations.
Congress is considering legislation proposed by Sen. Robert Menendez (D., NJ) and Sen. Mark Kirk (R., Ill.) that would impose stiff sanctions on Iran if an agreement is not reached by the deadline of June 30. Twice before, negotiation deadlines have been extended. This would effectively tell Iran, put up or shut up. Obama is naturally opposed. He wants nothing that might jeopardize his dangerous course of abject appeasement of an evil regime. The President outrageously dragooned British Prime Minister to play the role of unregistered lobbyist to call Senators to block the Menendez-Kirk bill.
Which gets to why Speaker John Boehner was well within his bounds to extend that invitation to Netanyahu. Such a momentous treaty with Iran as desired by Obama must, under the Constitution, be submitted to the US Senate for ratification. Obama has trampled on the Constitution time and again, making laws and changing laws at will, and wants no Congressional involvement precisely because the resultant debate would glaringly show what a dangerously miserable deal he had cut. The ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Robert Menendez, recently declared: 'The more I hear from the Administration and its quotes, the more it sounds like talking points that come straight out of Teheran.' When President Obama declared in his State of the Union Address that Iran has 'halted the progress of its nuclear program and reduced its stockpile of nuclear material,' Â the guffaws could be loudly heard from every intelligence agency in the world.
Congress is a separate branch of government. Hearing directly from Netanyahu is well within its prerogatives, especially on a matter as critical as this. By the way back in 2011, Speaker Boehner attempted to coordinate a Netanyahu invitation with the White House. Naturally Obama gave Boehner the back of his hand by ignoring this courtesy.

2. EU ACCUSED OF 'COLONIALISM' FOR FUNDING ILLEGAL ARAB SETTLEMENTS
by Ari Soffer
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/191223
Extracts:
A leading Israeli NGO has slammed the European Union over its alleged role in financing illegal Arab settlements in Judea and Samaria, saying its direct attempts to "subvert" Israeli internal affairs amounted to a form of "colonialism."
The remarks, made by the grassroots Im Tirzu organization, came in response to an article in the UK's Daily Mail, which cited figures showing how the EU has channeled European taxpayers' money into building some 400 homes and other buildings illegally in Area C of Judea and Samaria.
Under the 1993 Oslo Accords - signed not only by Israel and the Palestinian Authority, but by the EU itself among other parties - while the PA maintains full or partial control over Areas A and B of Judea-Samaria ("West Bank"), Israel maintains exclusive military and civilian authority over affairs in Area C, including planning and construction.
As such, the revelations - first exposed by the Regavim NGO and initially reported several months ago by Arutz Sheva - would amount to a flagrant breach of international law by the EU.
"It's not enough that the European Union finances Israeli BDS organizations who work to erase Israel's Jewish and democratic identity from within, but now the EU is openly fighting against (Israeli) communities by financing illegal building for Bedouins," Im Tirzu's CEO Matan Peleg said in a statement to Arutz Sheva.
Jewish and pro-Israel groups within Europe have also been reacting to the report, with the UK's Zionist Federation accusing the EU of hypocrisy and double-standards
"There has always been a distinct sense of ''all settlements are equal, but some are more equal than others' about Europe's attitude to Jewish communities in the West Bank," said ZF Chairman Paul Charney.
"While the European Union has happily opened its coffers for the settlements in Turkish-occupied Cyprus, every new Israeli construction - even if it's directly next to the Green Line - seems to have an EU-sanctioned Sword of Damocles hanging over it," he added, calling for a review of the EU's role in the conflict.
After repeated requests for comment, the EU's embassy in Israel refused to directly confirm or deny the allegations, saying only that "the EU provides humanitarian assistance to communities in need in Area C in accordance with the humanitarian imperative."
However the statement did add that "the EU is also committed to supporting the development of Area C for the benefit of Palestinian communities," while insisting that "the EU consults with the local communities themselves and the Israeli authorities where necessary."
The Regavim report illustrated how since 2009 European funds have been shifted away from passive diplomatic and financial aide to the PA, towards full, active cooperation with the PA's efforts to create facts on the ground via unilateral illegal construction.
One of the major goals in these EU efforts is to advance illegal Arab building precisely in Area C which is under full Israeli control, and therefore to slowly cede the areas and create a continuity between Arab-held land between Har Hevron in southern Judea, through Yericho (Jericho) and up into Samaria, it said.
The report features a detailed mapping of hundreds of illegal Arab structures built by the EU in the corridor from Jerusalem out past Ma'ale Adumim to its east, known as E1 - precisely where the EU and other international bodies have threatened Israel with sanctions if it builds.

3. Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger has warned that a crisis involving a nuclear Iran is in the "foreseeable future".
http://www.bbc.com/news/business-21177535
24 January 2013
Extracts:
The Nobel Peace laureate, 89, was speaking about prospects in the Middle East at the World Economic Forum.
He said nuclear proliferation in the region triggered by an armed Iran would increase the chances of an atomic war - "a turning point in human history".
He also urged the US and Russia to co-operate in resolving Syria's conflict.
"There has emerged in the region, the current and most urgent issue of nuclear proliferation. For 15 years, the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) have declared that a nuclear Iran is unacceptable, but it has been approaching," he said.
"In a few years, people will have to come to a determination of how to react, or the consequences of non-reaction.
"I believe this point will be reached in a very foreseeable future," he added.
Â
"Unilateral intervention by Israel would be a desperate last resort, but the Iranians have to understand that if they keep using the negotiations to gain time to complete a nuclear programme then the situation will become extremely dangerous."
The consequences of Tehran's programme, he said, would be that other countries in the region would also want nuclear arms.
"The danger is that we could be reaching a point where nuclear weapons would become almost conventional, and there will be the possibility of a nuclear conflict at some point... that would be a turning point in human history," he said.

Foreign governments donated some 105 million shekels ($27 million) to 24 nongovernmental organizations involved in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict between 2012 and 2014, according to a new report by Jerusalem-based research institute NGO Monitor.
According to the report, which was released Monday, the donations were made by foreign governments both directly and indirectly, and 'comprise roughly 60 percent of the NIS 176 million [$45 million] reported by 75 Israeli non-profit associations and corporations for the public benefit during that time.'
The report found that the European Union was the largest donor to the NGOs during the reported period, with 17.65 million shekels ($4.5 million), followed by Norway, which donated 13.3 million shekels ($3.4 million).
The report noted that NGOs are obligated to disclose their finances by the Law on Disclosure Requirements for [Groups] Supported by a Foreign Governmental Body, enacted in 2011 as part of the Transparency Law. The law demands that groups disclose the grants' objectives, and according to the report, many NGOs noted 'security forces investigation,' 'popular action,' 'international activity,' 'legal action,' and 'general support' as their goals.
Among the groups to comply with the financial disclosure directives were B'Tselem, the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel, HaMoked: Center for the Defense of the Individual, the Geneva Initiative, Yesh Din, Volunteers for Human Rights, the Coalition of Women for Peace, MachsomWatch, Â Women against the Occupation and for Human Rights, the Adalah Legal Center, the Mossawa Center, Rabbis for Human Rights, Physicians for Human Rights, Â Israel, and the Alternative Information Center, to name a few.
NGO Monitor noted that some of these groups 'are directly or indirectly involved in BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) campaigns, lawfare, delegitimization, and lobbying against the State of Israel.'
Professor Gerald Steinberg, president of NGO Monitor, was quoted on the website as saying the Transparency Law 'strengthens the central democratic principle of transparency, and sheds light on the processes through which foreign governments channel funds to selected Israeli civil society organizations.'
'The real-time information provided by this legal framework enables the Israeli public to have a fact-based and informed public debate regarding the involvement of foreign governments in the Israeli public discourse. Over the past few years, more and more NGOs have begun submitting reports disclosing their foreign government funders,' said Steinberg.
The report also found that not all NGOs had complied with the law in previous years, and urged the Justice Ministry and the Registrar of Associations to increase their enforcement against organizations that regularly receive foreign funding and fail to properly report it.

5. Child sex abuse gangs could have assaulted ONE MILLION youngsters in the UK
5 February 2015

Extracts:
There could be up to a million victims of child sexual exploitation in the UK, it is feared.
Rotherham's Labour MP Sarah Champion describes it as a 'national disaster' and is demanding a taskforce to fight the 'horror.'
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mirror the shaken MP has told how she 'nearly lost her mind' after victims turned to her for help - unable to trust the police or local council.
She is currently getting an average of 10 victims a week coming to her for help.
Fighting back tears she told how she feared having a nervous breakdown worried about failing the 'amazing women' and her horror after finding out a manual for grooming existed for paedophiles.
Talking about her concerns of corruption within the police force she pointed out the IPCC started their investigation within a month they had suspended 14 police officers.
And she said one senior police officer told her they didn't know why she was so surprised, telling Sarah: 'Paedophiles become teachers and people that prey on the vulnerable go into the police.'
'There are hundreds of thousands and I think there could be up to a million victims of exploitation nationwide, including right now. Girls in the process of being groomed,' she said.
Sarah Champion became Rotherham MP in 2012 after facing a protest walkout by members furious an Asian councillor had not been selected.
She says that attitude was indicative of the problems in the town.
Sending a message to the victims of abuse, she is trying to help, she said: 'I'm here for you and you are amazing for what you have done to help save this town.
'I think we need to remember there are victims across all the different communities.
