French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said on Saturday that his country needed to scale up military operations in Syria in order to 'annihilate' the Islamic State (ISIS) group, Politico reports.
The comments came hours after ISIS claimed the terrorist attack in Parisin which 129 people were killed.
'Our action in Syria, Â needs to be extended to annihilate Daesh,' Valls was quoted as having told TF1 television, using the Arabic acronym for ISIS.
'The enemy is ISIS,' he declared.
France is currently carrying out airstrikes against ISIS positions in Syria as part of a U.S.-led coalition. But its action so far has been limited compared to much larger-scale American raids, noted Politico.

2. Russia Dreams of Empire But Lacks Subjects [Maybe they could take some Palestinians?]
It's no secret that Vladimir Putin wants modern day Russia to be larger -- much like the Soviet Union.

At least that's the theory put forth by billionaire investor Jeffrey Gundlach, who says that Putin's efforts to reclaim Russian-speaking territories are fueled by a looming demographic disaster.
Russia is aging rapidly. Its working-age population is on track to shrink by 14% over the next 35 years, posing a real risk to economic growth.
"Russia will have the largest implosion of population in the history of the world," Gundlach said last week at ETF.com's Fixed Income Conference. The legendary investor said that's excluding war, famine or disease.
"No wonder Mr. Putin wants to take over other nations that are Russian-centric. He needs people," he said.
In recent years Putin has brought Crimea back under Russian control and has sought to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. There are concerns that he will try to reassert power over other Russian-speaking territories in countries like Estonia and Latvia too.
Gundlach, who is the founder of elite fixed-income firm DoubleLine Capital, pointed to Russia's elevated mortality rates and a very low fertility rate.
Even the World Bank is worried about these issues. It recently urged Russia to try to reduce the impact of aging by encouraging individuals to save more, raising the country's relatively low retirement age and cutting down on bad habits like smoking and excessive drinking.
"Without adequate adjustments of policies and behaviors, an aging population could impair national growth and fiscal sustainability," the World Bank said in a report that pointed out Russia's population of those over 60 more than doubled to 18% in 2010 from 7.7% in 1950.

(JNi.media) Â 'The terrorist attack saved my life,' Daniel Cohen, 31, who was injured on Monday, Nov. 2, in a stabbing attack in Rishon Lezion, told NRG. Cohen, a kashrut supervisor, was stabbed several times in his upper body and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered a dangerous tumor in his colon, and saved his life.
'I was in the middle of work in Rishon Letzion,' Cohen recalled on Wednesday. 'I was at the central bus station and waited for a local bus to take me to my next appointment. I waited for the bus and did not see anything suspicious. Then I moved a little and suddenly the terrorist attacked me and choked me.'
'I felt my wrist almost being dislodged,' Cohen continued. 'He pulled out his knife and tried to cut off my head. I tried with my hand to push it away and then he tried to stick the knife in my throat. I tilted my head and then he hit me in the jaw, near the ear. He knocked me down to the floor and then stabbed me several times, puncturing along the left side of my body, in the chest, the abdomen and the shoulder.'
'I grabbed his leg and tried to get up,' Cohen related. 'I hit him, but couldn't take away his knife. A passerby tried to throw a trash can in our direction and then the terrorist ran and I ran, too. I was in very serious condition. I knocked for the driver to open the bus door for me. The driver quickly let me into the bus. I reclined in the back seat. They tried to stop the bleeding. They asked me what happened and I groaned in pain. I started to say Shema Israel (which religious Jews say before going to sleep and before giving up the ghost).'
Except that later on it turned out that the attack was very lucky for Daniel Cohen. ...
Then, 'as they were treating these organs, they discovered over my colon a tumor I did not know I had. They cut this growth and stitched me and everything,' Cohen said. 'Thank God I've reached the point within a week that I'm in good shape. They told me they discovered the tumor during the operation. If they hadn't cut it, it could have gotten worse.'
