1. How Many Israelites? 3000 million?
Moses blessed Israel.
Deuteronomy 1:
11 May the Lord, the God of your fathers, increase you a thousand-fold more than you are and bless you, just as He has promised you!Â
Colbert ("Bert") Bryan first pointed out to us that it was here prophesied that the number of Israelites as it then was would be multiplied a thousand times over.
They were then 600,000 males between the ages of 20 to 60 which with women and children makes about ca. 3 million (or more) so that would mean ca. 3000 million!

That theory is very controversial, to say the least...
But to keep things on a neutral, analytical perspective, two things are to
be emphasized:
1) the "dying god" is quite a universal archetype, from the Middle East to
the ends of the Earth; now, the non-christians may say that it is something
that arose from some old event like Babel and the death of Tammuz and that
everything similar including the Christian narrative is an imitation of
that; and the Christians may say that it's the opposite -that the Babelians
knew the general line of the future -from some prophecies- and they aped
that in advance to claim the archetype for themselves; I guess we'll
discover who's right at the End only...
2) from what we get from History, Celts and Germans may have been more
influential than we credit them in the shaping of European culture, but
nevertheless, most of the big concepts come from the Church and that one was
very much Greco-Roman (by that, meaning that it was drawing its inspiration
from spiritual, cultural, philosophical and historical inputs and references
originating from the Roman-held territory). Even though many folkloric
elements came from the more marginal cultures to participate in the big
European one, still, it is doubtful the big archetypes came from the
"Barbarians". Let's not forget the North was still importing much Meridional
knowhow even in the 1100s. Let's not forget the Christian dogma &
iconography, it was pretty stabilized in its core during the 4th-5th
centuries AD, and that most of the action happened in the Byzantine
territory which was NOT under the Barbarians (and even the West was just
beginning to be under them - the Goths came in 410).
Everybody believes what they want, but these precisions are necessary.

There is the Temple Institute that have online photographs and explanations as to what they do:

They also museum type exhibitions in the Old City (Jewish Quarter) of Jerusalem.
In addition there are other groups and organizations that work along the same lines.
This is a very interesting and very important field of study but I have never taken a proper interest in it as perhaps I should have done.
Amongst our followers however there are Religious Jews who are very interested in this matter.
This is despite the fact that for the moment mainstream Orthodox Judaism is very reserved about it.

God says that HE will send HIS messenger before HIM to prepare the way and rebuild the Temple (Malachi 3:1). The Commentators Rav Saadia Gaon (b. ca. 890 CE) and Iben Ezra (1080-1164 CE) said that the MESSENGER is the Messiah son of Joseph. The Messiah son of Joseph, according to the Malbim (1809-1879) and others will be the future head of the Lost Ten Tribes when they return to re-unite with Judah.
At least one Midrash (Pesikta Zutratha Lekach Tov, Balak, Numbers 24;17) also says that the Messiah Son of Joseph will rebuild the Temple.
Rabbeinu Bachiya [on Leviticus/Vayikra chapter 11] felt that Edom [i.e. Christianity in general?] would in the future help Israelites rebuild the Third Temple. Forces that in the past that were harmful to us in the End Times will help and support Israel.
Zechariah 9:13-14 has been understood (Commentary of Malbim) as saying that the Children of Ephraim shall defeat the hosts of Gog and Magog and will gather in the outcasts from the Ten Tribes.
This too is linked with rebuilding the Temple.
Zechariah 9:
13 For I will bend Judah as My bow,
I will fill the bow with Ephraim.
And I will stir up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece;
And I will make you like a warrior's sword.
14 Then the Lord will appear over them,
And His arrow will go forth like lightning;
And the Lord God will blow the SHOFAR,
And will march in the storm winds of Teman.
