1. Need for more feedback
In the past people used to react to what we posted out. This helped us keep track of how we were being received and also guided us as to what to post etc.
For some time we have not been receiving much in the way of reactions. Perhaps we need to post out a new Questionnaire?
Anyway
Please send us your views and opinions relevant to our articles, books, and postings, etc.

Shalom Yair
This is controversial though I disagree with most who make this point. The "month of Dan" was written as Dec 12 to Dec 13. (December 12 happens to be my birthday). The festival of Chanukah is a festival of eight days that ends at the end of the first day of a new month. However the calendar appears to be one day off. Today, December 14 is the last day of Chanukah yet the new month was Dec 13. I am aware of the history of how the present Jewish calendar was devised by Hillel II and my best guess is that he was aware that after his time that the calendar would be off after many, many years. One critic claimed the Hillel calendar was off by at least three days off. I never believed this, yet it seems today, Dec 14, when Chanukah music is played on one of my satellite radio channels that the month of Tevet should have begun on Monday instead of Sunday.

Shalom,
Concerning this specific issue we cannot say anything at the moment one way or the other.
It is not our calling to justify enactments of the Sages but often we are required to do it anyway.
Jews bound by the Law have to do what the Sages say whether they agree with it or not.
See Deuteronomy ch.17.
This is a commandment.
The Ten Tribes are technically not obligated by the Law. (Jeremiah 3:8, Hosea 1:9 )
In the future they will be.
Malachi 4:
4Remember the law of Moses My servant, even the statutes and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel.
At present the Ten Tribes should draw closer to Judah.
On the one hand,
By denying the Oral Law and making judgments for themselves they distance themselves from Judah and maybe transgressing a prohibition.
On the other hand,
by trying to fulfill the commandments as they understand them they at least learn something about them and may come to gain an inkling of the complexities involved in their practical application.
