1. Question Concerning a Possible Immediate Rapport with Judah

You are referring to the message we sent to you concerning the possibility of an approach being made to Judah.
We said:
#4. We agree with you in principle and may send out a message to that effect BUT
a certain change has to take place within the ranks of Joseph i.e.
the Ten Tribes.
# Meanwhile Yom Kippur is approaching and new understandings may come through.
You requested a clarification on this point. Here it is in summary:
People from the Ten Tribes do comprise most of the very few friends the Jews and the State of Israel have got.
Nevertheless any message identifying these peoples as the Lost Tribes presented to Judah has to face the following obstacles:
a. In General: Even the "friends"Â mostly want the Jews to acknowledge CM (the Christian Messiah) which is tantamount to idolatry for they who follow the Hebrew Bible.
The Jews are not going to even tentatively consider a recognition of "Joseph" if this involves self-destruction.
b. In Particular: The so-called "Ephraimites" and other believers in the Ten Tribes among western peoples apart from their missionary intentions are often anti-Jewish.
How does this anti-Jewish tendency express itself:
1. They do not limit themselves (like Brit-Am does) but take in anyone as assumed "Israelites" and ignore Scripture.
Who exactly are the Jews supposed to recognize? Which peoples? What portion of them? How?
[All messages need to be based on Scripture and where possible confirmed by the Sages, as Brit-Am does.]
2. They do not support Brit-Am very much. In the past they have boycotted us and one of the few who thought in our direction plagiarized our writings.
[Brit-Am may not have the answer BUT we are probably closer to it than anyone else on the scene.]
3. The "Ephraimites"Â include people who are anti-Jewish, have an anti-Jewish message, and are against rapport with Judah! A choice may need to be made.
[If they do not really recognize Judah why should Judah recognize them? and who are they really to recognize anybody?]
4. Many "Ephraimites" adhere to Conspiracy Theories that are basically against the Jews.
5. They flirt with N. Gordon and pseudo-Karaites who in Jewish eyes are against the Bible and against Jews. It is a free country. One can do what one wants.
Maybe it is for the better that this red herring exists BUT it is against the truth as we understand it, and so should all others who are genuine understand that way as well..

You have obviously taken this information from Isaac Mozeson. Let me give you an alternative explanation:
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, the first known use of super in the sense of high grade or quality was in 1842, but was used as an abbreviation for supernumerary or supervisor or superintendent as early as 1838. The word supervisor is said to be Middle English, dating from the 15th Century, and is derived from Medieval Latin supervidere, superintendent from Medieval Latin superintendens, first used in the English language 1554, and supernumerary from Late Latin supernumerarius, first known to have been used in English in 1605.
The Latin word super is equivalent to the Greek word uper, both meaning 'over, above, beyond, across, for'. In fact, the Latin superbus from which we get the English word superb is said to derived from the Greek uper-bios meaning 'to step over, to transgress, trespass, offend, to pass over, to go beyon'. The word over is from the Hebrew word avar. Mozeson admits the affinity of the word super to the English word over, which likewise is related to the German uber, but still relates the origin of the word to the Hebrew shaper meaning 'goodly, beautiful, bright, be pleasant or agreeable'.
The act of adding an 's' on the beginning of words is understood to be a Celtic practice. Take for example the Hebrew word parad from which we get the English words part, apart, partition, SEPARATE, SEPARATION and SPREAD. (The name Aphrodite - 'ashe' [sic!] who was 'cut off' - is also from the same root.) Bearing in mind the close affinity between the Celts, the Romans and the Greeks, the word super is more likely to be derived from the Hebrew avar than from shaper.
Welcome to the world of the philologist. When studying phonetics, it is very easy to jump to conclusions and make the wrong choice. I am not saying that Mozeson is wrong, but hopefully the above highlights the difficulties inherent in any philological consideration. The big question is, which interpretation is the correct one?
Regards,
Steve

Brit-Am Reply:
Shalom,
With all due respect I think both you and Isaac Mozeson in some cases may have allowed modern linguistics to confuse you!
Isaac Mozeson published "The Word" in 2001. We had published "The Tribes" in 1993 and shortly afterwards moved to Beth-el and then to Jerusalem. We made contact with Isaac on one of his visits to Israel.
We had already began our own study of the English Language and its Hebraic antecedents. We showed Isaac some of what we had done and our word list. Isaac already had most of our words but there may have been some that he had not.
Isaac was pleased with what he saw and in the 2nd edition of "The Word" mentioned our name and praised our efforts. We received a copy of his book and read it through. We then left it behind in one of our residence changes some decades ago. Here and there some of our attempts at etymology may still be influenced by what we read back then. Most of it is not. Isaac applied modern linguistic principles to his study. We do not.
There are differences between us. Nevertheless we think Isaac is a genius and has earned a place in history.
[Another work we would recommend is Professor Karl RODOSI, "The Origin of Modern Culture Languages and their Derivation from the Hebraica," Chicago, 1891.
http://ufdc.ufl.edu/UF00072061/00001
This was brought to our attention by the linguist, Shmuel James.]
We have developed our own linguistic system which is quite simple and it works.
Our opinion is that all languages to some degree derive from Hebrew. English in some ways is closer to the Hebrew than the others.
Moseson has also said something quite similar though he may have since modified this opinion he once had.
At all events our linking the Hebrew word "shofar" to the Hebrew vowel "shapher" is based on the Bible.
The two words are spelt in Hebrew with the same letters.
The word "shapher" in Hebrew and Aramaic according to its context means "beautiful, improved, better." In fact the word "super" or "superior" (from the same word root) could also fit its meaning!
In verbal form the word implies "to make better," "to render superior,"Â i.e. to improve.
The word "shofar" (trumpet) is from the same word root and therefore we may associate it with a call for improvement.
The word "Shapher" (meaning something other than the "shofar" trumpet) appears in Scripture at:
Genesis 49:21Â translated as "goodly" or "beautiful".
Daniel 3:32 (4:2) translated as "good" or "given me pleasure" or "delighted me".
Daniel 6:2 (1) translated as "good, "seemed good", "pleased".".
