1. Comparing Jerusalem with Tel Aviv
Jerusalem vs Tel Aviv, what is the best city to live in Israel? What would be the pros and cons of each?
I am not very familiar with Tel Aviv but here goes:
Tel Aviv is more humid. This can be a serious problem especially in the summer.
In Jerusalem the air is fresher and cleaner. There is less humidity and slightly lower temperatures.
Comparisons between them depend on who you are and what you are looking for.
If you do research in history or religion etc then Jerusalem has the best libraries and facilities and they are more user-friendly.
Jerusalem seems to have more academics and knowledge of all kinds is easier to access.
Jerusalem has Museums, Yad VeShem (the Holocaust Museum) and numerous exhibits.
Many of the attractions in Jerusalem are within walking distance of each or not so far away by bus or taxi.
Jerusalem includes the Old City. In the Old City is the Jewish Quarter and the Kotel (Wailing Wall, last remnant of the Second Temple) and numerous archaeological attractions all within a few minutes walking distance of each other.
You can spend days in the same small area and every day do and see something different.
Jerusalem also has Arab Quarters that some people find attractive. If you are not Jewish you are probably safe enough spending time there as well.
In general Jerusalem is safer DESPITE periodic terrorist attacks.
Jerusalem, especially the Jewish areas, has much less crime. Criminal offenses do however occur in both places.
People seem friendlier in Jerusalem and more egalitarian.
If you wish to learn about Judaism then Jerusalem is the place.
In Jerusalem there are numerous Yeshivot and places of learning at all levels.
If you are religious and Jewish then Jerusalem is where the action is. Nearly all the Jewish restaurants are Kosher and usually to a high standard.
The food is good.
In Tel Aviv you may find it difficult to find a Kosher place to eat: Kosher restaurants exist but one has to look around for them. [Nevertheless in most of the non-Kosher eateries the food itself is not really non-Kosher but the methods of preparation and storage etc are not up to standard. It varies from one establishment to another, some being outlandishly transgressing. ]
Tel Aviv by reputation has more gays and promiscuity.
Nevertheless it may be easier to meet people and make instantaneous friends in Jerusalem. The atmosphere in Jerusalem is conducive to association.
Tel Aviv is by the sea and has good beaches, attractive shops and shopping centers.
Tel Aviv is more expensive than Jerusalem is. Jerusalem itself is not necessarily cheap for tourists.
Nevertheless millions of tourists visit Jerusalem annually and a whole sub-culture has grown up among them.
Housing and rents can be quite expensive in both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Drawbacks and Pluses:
Tel Aviv requires more funding. You need money.
Tel Aviv has numerous foreign workers and gays etc as well as Sudanese Muslim illegal immigrants etc whom other residents of Tel Aviv generally try to avoid.
If you travel alone you might find Tel Aviv somewhat lonely and not much different from other western cities.
Jerusalem has Arabs and not everybody gets along with them or necessarily wants to.
The Arabs in Jerusalem however very much like spending time in the Jewish areas, shopping, walking around with their families, etc.
Many (mainly non-Jewish) tourists save money by lodging in the Arab areas.
A near majority of the Jewish inhabitants of Jerusalem are religious and most of the rest are traditional and respective towards Judaism. This influences the general atmosphere.
Some secular types complain about the lack of activity on the Shabat, etc. Others find the experience both restful and exhilarating.
Jerusalem often has a healing influence on troubled spirits.
On the other hand there are those suffer from delusions due to the spiritual atmosphere.
This has even been given a clinical name, "The Jerusalem Syndrome."
Tel Aviv has the Diaspora Museum ("Beit haTafutsot") in the grounds of Tel Aviv University. They have numerous worthwhile exhibits such as small models of synagogues from all over the world, etc.
In addition it has a genealogical service that may clarify (a) whether or not one has Jewish ancestry; and (b) where this ancestry came from.
Not only Tel Aviv and Jerusalem but the whole of Israel has much going for it and is well worth visiting.

3. Yair Davidiy is NOT the Messiah or Eliyahu and it is BAD LUCK to say anything like that!
Yair Davidiy is NOT the Messiah
nor is he
Messiah son of Joseph
nor is ye
Eliyahu
nor is he
a Prophet.
Not only is he none of these things but there is tradition that to say such things about him may bring him bad luck.
Yair being a rational person is sensitive to such matters.
He considers excessive praise to be insulting and an attempt (conscious or not) to possibly cause harm.

4. CHRISTOPHER TORSAK: Personal Ancestry
Hello Sir,
Â
I read your book Ancestry: The Hebrew Identity of Celtic Races
http://britam.org/Ancestry.html
and was quite fascinated with much of the content. I have been exploring this because after doing a few DNA tests, I discovered my paternal lineage is R2b, or more specifically U-312, U2 L2 and have read many articles classifying this as Celtic-Italic. I am an American mix with a lot of English German and Austrian and I believe much of my English is Saxon and Scandinavian. I have been able to trace back paper trails on multiple lines to attest to this. My paternal lineage is from Western Poland from a great grandfather that claimed to be German although I believe there was definitely a Polish mix and he and his family identified more with the ruling Germans of Prussia. I have noticed this particular DNA is not too common in Poland, but very common to the South, Switzerland appearing to be the epicenter with about 60 percent of the males having this lineage. His surname it appears before he came to Utah to be Torczyk and ancestors currently in Poland of his father's line retain this form. In the records it has been written as Torzyk, Torz, Thorzyk, and Tchorz. Researching his Mom's line has been even more of a mystery. Her surname was Mendelak. Models on GEDMATCH have shown me to be predominately German/Central European and on single population estimates Polish shows only on 2 models at 17th and 19th for rankings. Hungarian oddly enough shows on all 6 models between 4 and 13 for rankings. I have run into those who have Hungarian friends who have stated my Great Grandfather looks Hungarian. The surname was changed, I believe by the bureaucracy in Utah, to Torsak, which oddly enough I have been told is Hungarian. I know of the surname Torz and it's variants existing in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and in Northern Italy (the Venice and Milan areas). I am aware that part of this phenomenon is due to the constantly shifting borders throughout history. I believe my paternal lineage traces back to the Boii, in part, because one of my paternal genetic relatives is from Bologna, Italy. The latest release of my FTDNA origins has me at 42 percent Western Central Europe, 30 percent Scandinavia, 21 percent Southeast Europe, 3 percent British Isles, 3 percent Eastern Europe, and less than 2 percent Middle East. The models are always changing and I understand it might be awhile before they have more significance. I also understand that acquired DNA can significantly sometimes differ from family trees. My family tree is about 60 percent English, 12.5 percent Austrian, 12.5 percent Prussian/Polish, 10 percent German and the rest Irish/Scotch and misc. a European. An Italian Comedic Epic about the Crusades starring Vittorio Gassman featured a character who was supposed to be a Germanic mercenary played by Paolo Villaggio named Thorz. And the origins of the name Torzburg for Bran's Castle is unclear to me. I have been told that these name lines may have more ancient origins going back to the Middle East. I apologize for maybe being a little long-winded, but just wanted to try to frame somewhat my own knowledge of this name so far and just wished to get your opinion to this surname since it appears to have a Celtic connection. Thank you.
Â
Kind Regards,
Â
Chris Torsak

5. Sonia Margarita Gangotena: The Book of Tara
Hi:
On the genetic findings of Jewish ancestry, we seem to forget that Christianity spread in the first century everywhere, wherever the Romans ruled and beyond, including India and China, and Africa. Once the Jewish population became Christian they intermarried with any other ethnic group. This may account for the European stock, and for the Jewish ancestry in the European groups. This doesn't reduce the fact of the Jewish gene appearing bc of the ten tribes as they went everywhere, including the British Isles, which is reflected in the Book of Tara. This book tells the story of Prophet Jeremiah taking his granddaughters away from Jerusalem into Egypt, escaping the Babylonians. From there He and his granddaughter Tara, one of the daughters of King Zedekiah, and a large retinue went to the Meletian Kingdom in Spain and from there to Ireland, where Tara marries the descendant of the Miletian kings, descendants from Zerah, twin of Perez. So by 598 or so, the descendants of the sons of Judah and Tamar, come together again. So not only do the ten tribes leave descendants, but also the descendants of Judah.
Â
The Mayas and the Incas talked of a man who didn't look like them, a white man with a beard and light hair (Natives of Central and South America didn't have body hair or develop gray hair) who taught them, including saying that men like them will come back, as it happened in the late 1400's and early 1500's. This man was called Quetzalcoatl by the Mayas and Viracocha by the Incas.

6. Darcy Landau: Steven Collins, Germany as the Tribe of Gad? Comparing Tribal Identifications
I am reading a book by Steven M. Collins called Israel's tribes today on page 218 he talks about the tribe of GAD uses the verse Genesis 49 19 and also Deuteronomy 33 verse 20 what do you think of these verses what do they mean to Collins it means Gad is Germany I will be awaiting your comment thank you for your time warm regards Darcy
===============================
Brit-Am Reply:
Gemesis 49:
19 As for Gad, raiders shall raid him,
But he will raid at their heels.
Deuteronomy 33:
20 Of Gad he said,
Blessed is the one who enlarges Gad;
He lies down as a lion,
And tears the arm, also the crown of the head.
21 Then he [n]provided the first part for himself,
For there the ruler's portion was reserved;
And he came with the leaders of the people;
He executed the justice of the Lord,
And His ordinances with Israel.
Steven Collins is a friend of ours. His research is of value.
We disagree with him on some issues. The identification of Germany is one of them.
This difference however is NOT NECESSARILY as unbridgeable as it may seem!
We identify Gad with the Goths and with Sweden.
Traditionally the German speaking people of Switzerland claimed descent from the Goths and there may also be something to that.
We understand that historically descendants of Israelites were in Germany but never as a dominating force. Most of the Israelites in Germany moved out in the
Mass Migrations to North America in the 1700s, 1800s, and early 1900s.
Descendants of Germans in North America may well be of Israelite descent whereas those in Germany are not.
It may be asked how can we make such statements when often these same North Americans of German descent have known cousins etc in Germany?
In reply we say that we do not really know.
There may be numerous exceptions, an overlapping of identifications, divisions within families.
In Germany itself many are descended from French Huguenots, Italians, Jews, Poles, Russians, etc.
How one identifies may also be a factor.
On the whole we understand that the Germans are mainly from Gomer along with some from Magog and others.
The predominant elites groups in Germany however are from Edom,
see our book "Edom and Germay"
http://www.britam.org/EdomGermany.html
Steven Collins identifies the western Germans as the Tribe of Gad but he sees the Eastern Germans (whom he calls Prussians) are Assyrians.
Steven Collins Tribal identifications:
Britain and the Commonwealth: Ephraim
USA:Â Manasseh
France: Reuben
South Africa:Â Asher (Boers)
Netherlands: Zebulon
Finland: Issachar
Norway: Benjamin
Sweden Naphtali
Ireland: Dan
West Germans: Gad
Jews:Â Judah including Khazars who converted to Judaism though were already descendants of Judah.
Ancient Sparta (of Greece): Simeon.
Welsh and Scottish: The Tribe of Simeon had been scattered among the other Tribes but was prominent among the Welsh and Scottish.
Levi is now mainly among the Jews
[Source: "The 'Lost' Ten Tribes of Israel...Found!", by Steven M. Collins, USA, 1995.
Compare this with previous
Brit-Am Identifications:
Ephraim: Britain
Menasseh: USA
Reuben: France
Simeon: Scattered, Wales, Eire
Levi: Scattered with the Jews
Yehudah: Jews of Judah
Issachar: Swiss and Fins
Zebulon: Netherlands
Gad: Sweden
Asher: Ireland (Eire), also in Scotland.
Benjamin: With the Jews, Belgians
Dan: Danes and Celts
Naphtali: Norwegians

A Facebook discussion

As we explained,

#4. Was it Appropriate for Yair to Write on Such Matters?
We wrote the article in question haphazardly using information we had acquired incidentally in our researches.
We were reacting to previous articles that misrepresented the facts and confused the issue.
As of today (19 April 2017) the article has received on Quora 10,900 views so it excited more interest than we expected.
What However is the Relevance?
First of all it is history. It is worth knowing what happened and what type of person was responsible.
Among historians and history buffs there exists a tendency to represent Hitler as an otherwise admirable person.
He was mislead by racial doctrines, so the thread goes, and therefore made a mistake by killing many innocent people.
This is misleading.
Hitler was a pervert. He engaged in a number of perversions including sodomy.
He had been seen engaging in the act and had also molested a young member of the Richard Wagner family.
Some of the perversions that Hitler later engaged in were debasing and degrading.
What was the purpose?
What pleasure would he have gotten out of them?
A partial answer may perhaps be obtained by referring to a legend concerning Nebuchadnessar the Babylonian monarch who destroyed Jerusalem and the First Temple:
# According to the Talmud in Nedarim 65a, Nebuchadnezzar chastised Tzidkiyahu for revealing that he had seen the Babylonian ruler eat a live hare. #
https://www.ou.org/torah/nach/nach-yomi/jeremiah_chapter_39/
Nebuchadnezzar explained his action by saying he wished to cultivate the quality of cruelty.
Hitler knew what he was doing when he did it.
He considered himself to be in league with the Devil.
He wished to do evil and degrade others.
His self-degradation was a psychological preparation to enable him to degrade others.
The degradation was of both the victims and of the victimizers.
The Racial Doctrine was only part of the excuse. The main ideological drive was hatred of the Jew for its own sake.
After the war had ended, in August 1946, a poll [OMGUS] in Germany showed that:
" 37 % agreed that "the extermination of the Jews and Poles and other non-Aryan races was necessary for the security of Germany."
33% still maintained that "Jews should not have the same rights as those belonging to the Aryan race."
By countenancing one perversion we in effect give licence to others.
What a person does in private will also have an effect in the private domain.
The Nazis were against the "Old Testament"!
The Nazis pressured the Protestant Churches of Germany to do away with the "Old Testament" i.e. the Hebrew Bible.

8. Amnon Goldberg: Chaim Clorfene is Opposed to Conversion to Judaism!
What's your opinion of this article by Chaim Clorfene?
Warning: Do not convert to Judaism.
by Chaim Clorfene
https://www.chaimclorfene.com/new-blog/2017/4/13/warning-do-not-convert-to-judaism
Extracts:
Let us talk about conversion to Judaism. No one should do it. If you converted to Judaism, you were led astray by a well-meaning, but unlearned Jew, probably a rabbi.
Now, let us say that this Noahide does not really want to become a Jew, but for the sake of enhancing his Torah lifestyle, he converts. We now have a problem convert.
This person converted because of Judaism, not because he wanted to be a Jew. The truth is that it is very, very difficult to stop being a Jew, but it is a piece of cake to leave the Torah.
Let's say that three or four years after his conversion, this new Jew, loses some of his excitement about the Torah and gets pulled back in or around the church, or simply stops being observant and becomes an American-style weirdo and marries a trout. Once a Jewish convert turns away from the Torah, for any reason, it can turn into resentment of himself as a Jew, and this will lead to a resentment of the Jewish people, and even G-d. And it often leads to anti-Jewish behavior, which includes poisoning the minds of their children against anything Jewish.Â
===============================
Brit-Am Comment:
Chaim Clorfene is a friend of a friend and a former neighbor of members of my family.
He encouraged Yair Davidiy to go ahead with his Brit-Am work before The Tribes was published and things got off the ground.
Nevertheless we heard that he may since have expressed reservations on the matter.
Chaim is a follower of Chabad and involved with Jewish Outreach.
Chaim has specialized in Media presentations and is the co-author (with Yaakov Rogalsky) of "The Path of the Righteous Gentile"
and other works.
Concerning converts to Judaism:
Chaim may have had discouraging experiences with converts. He would not be the first.
Nevertheless his viewpoint is not (as far as we understand) truly a representative one.
Jewish tradition is aware of the negative phenomenon he speaks of but still considers the acceptance of converts worth while.
On the other hand,
Initially the Rabbis do discourage converts.
Historically out of converts there have emerged BOTH traitors to Judaism on the one hand as well as, on the other, very great Torah Scholars, Rabbis, and valuable personages.
Brit-Am/Hebrew Nations DOES NOT involve itself with conversion to Judaism.
We do not see it as an answer in general for the Lost Ten Tribes though in the future it may be.
Exceptions may exist at the individual level BUT this is NOT an issue we are concerned with.
