1. Sweet Billy versus Sweet William?
Bill wrote:
Dear Yair,
I clicked the HebrewNations link and ended up on the site. So I searched for Elijah, got a sql error, but found an article titled "Sweet Billy." 2nd in the list.
So I read it, because my parents and siblings call me "Billy."
After reading the article I found no real justification for the title. It was mostly about the ten tribes getting exiled for worshiping Baal, and how G-d had mercy for the Tribe of Judah.
So I was wondering your thoughts. I couldn't find where Billy, Bill, Willy, Willie, Will, or William was even remotely Hebrew in nature.
Thanks,
Bill

Bill Shalom,
You referred to our article,
Sweet Billy. Baal and the 10 Wayward Sons

First of all you have a good name.
My grandfather was named "William." So too, was my father whose official first names were William Hugh but in order not to cause confusion he was called after his second name "Hugh."
The name William apparently means, "May the Will of God protect You!" or something like that.
cf.
# From the Germanic name Willahelm, which was composed of the elements wil "will, desire" and helm "helmet, protection". #

The best Hebrew Equivalent would possibly be:
"Magen David" i.e. Shield of David.
There is no specific verse with this expression but the concept is associated with David, e.g.
Psalm 3:
3 But You, O Lord, are a shield [Hebrew: "magen"] about me.
The name David is derived from the root "dod" connoting beloved.
The word "dod" in Hebrew also means "uncle."
This could also be the root of the English word "dad" for father.
cf.
dad (n.)

recorded from c. 1500, but probably much older, from child's speech, nearly universal and probably prehistoric (compare Welsh tad, Irish daid, Czech, Latin, Greek tata, Lithuanian tete, Sanskrit tatah, all of the same meaning).
Other Hebrew names of similar connotation include:
Zvi
Hefets
Rau
Yedidyah
Hovev
And why did we entitle the article "Sweet Billy"?
A play on associations to arouse curiosity,
Sweet William is popular name for a type of flower (Dianthus barbatus).
Bill or Billy is a nickname for someone named William. It is derived from the shortened form for William, "Willy."
The B and W sounds interchange.
This was the case, in some cases, in Ancient Hebrew as well.
That is why we proposed that the name "Wales" was derived fromt he name "Bel or Baal.
cf.
Origin of the Name "Wales".
http://www.britam.org/WalesName.html
Extracts:
"Valentia" derives from the Welsh term "Wale" or "Bile". Britain in general was considered "the Honey Isle of Bile". Bile equals the Celtic Belenus, or Bel who is identical with Baal of Ancient Canaan and Bel of Mesopotamia. ....
The name "Wales" derives from Bile. The term Valentia at first was applied to that portion of the Welsh identified with Cymru and the Cymry.
Later the name was applied to Wales itself. The Anglo-Saxons identified the native British and Welsh as foreigners and assimilated the existing term "Valentia" (Walentia) to a similar sound ("Walas") in their own tongue.
Anyway, God bless you,
Yair

2. Iva Moses: Edomites in the Caucasus and as Ancestors to King John of England?
Iva said:
A theory of mines going over the rumors on all the US Presidents related to John King of England and vaquely tracing John's lineage to Alexander the Great and Phillip II of Macedon.
It took me a while to discern that more than likely Heracles probably would have been another name for Esau like Gilgamesh is for Nimrod. Essentially Wikipedia seems to draw the correlation of John to the Macedonians. Then the information on your website seems to draw the correlation between the Macedonians and Heracles or Esau.
Â
The etymology of Caucasian seems to mean Mountain dweller with Esau being the only nation of the table of nations "besides the horites they displaced" that lived on a Mountain or MT Seir. When it comes to David their seems to be a difference between Red and Ruddy when it comes to skin complexion. I definitely will keep all you said in mine however. I was not aware of the red hair though. Thank you for the input. Greatly appreciated.

The Lost Ten Tribes are in the west! This is proven from Biblical and Secular Sources.
 These are briefly summarized.
A challenge is presented by this evidence for each one of us to decide whether or not they are prepared to acknowledge their Israelite ancestry and to act accordingly.
