Headlines in Israel claim miracles are protecting the Jews during the Gaza Strip ground war, with one headline proclaiming that Hamas terrorists are complaining about God changing the direction of rockets in mid-air.
If you go by the headlines of local newspapers in Israel, the Jews under attack by Hamas rockets have another hidden defense: God himself. The Jewish Telegraph opens with a quote from David Ben Gurion, who once said, 'In Israel, in order to be a realist, you must believe in miracles.' The article claims that even the Hamas have become frustrated with Israel's miracles:
'[T]he Talmud Yerushalmi tells us that in no way are we to depend on miracles. It argues that we must not desist from our obligations and must not wait for miraculous intervention from the Supernatural. How perfectly relevant are both of these views today. We witness hourly miracles. As one of the terrorists from Gaza was reported to say when asked why they couldn't aim their rockets more effectively: ' We do aim them, but their God changes their path in mid-air.' Amen! And when our God is not busy doing that, He is ensuring that the high-tech brain power of our 'start-up nation' is working overtime to produce yet another Iron Dome battery to help protect our cities and us.'

More claims of divine intervention are being reported in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, with an operator of Israel's Iron Dome missile-defense system saying he personally witnessed 'the hand of God' diverting an incoming rocket out of harm's way.
Israel Today translated a report from a Hebrew-language news site, which noted the Iron Dome battery failed three times to intercept an incoming rocket headed toward Tel Aviv last week.
The commander recalled: 'A missile was fired from Gaza. Iron Dome precisely calculated [its trajectory]. We know where these missiles are going to land down to a radius of 200 meters. This particular missile was going to hit either the Azrieli Towers, the Kirya (Israel's equivalent of the Pentagon) or [a central Tel Aviv railway station]. Hundreds could have died.
'We fired the first [interceptor]. It missed. Second [interceptor]. It missed. This is very rare. I was in shock. At this point we had just four seconds until the missile lands. We had already notified emergency services to converge on the target location and had warned of a mass-casualty incident.
'Suddenly, Iron Dome (which calculates wind speeds, among other things) shows a major wind coming from the east, a strong wind that  sends the missile into the sea. We were all stunned. I stood up and shouted, 'There is a God!'
'I witnessed this miracle with my own eyes. It was not told or reported to me. I saw the hand of God send that missile into the sea.'
'Their God changes the path of our rockets in mid-air, said a terrorist,' Â was the headline in the July 18 edition of the Jewish Telegraph.
It was a partial quote from Barbara Ordman, who lives in Maale Adumim on the West Bank.
Her exact quotation was: 'As one of the terrorists from Gaza was reported to say when asked why they couldn't aim their rockets more effectively: 'We do aim them, but their God changes their path in mid-air.'
Meanwhile, the Times of Israel reported a senior officer in Israel's army said divine miracles protected his soldiers during fighting in the Gaza Strip.
Givati Brigade commander Col. Ofer Winter told the weekly publication Mishpacha that he 'witnessed a miraculous occurrence, the likes of which he had never seen before during his military career.'
Winter indicated a predawn raid intended to use darkness as cover was delayed, forcing the soldiers to move toward their objective as sunrise was approaching.
With the troops in danger of being exposed at daybreak, Winter explained how heavy fog quickly descended to shroud their movements until their mission was accomplished.
'Suddenly a cloud protected us,' he said, referring to clouds the Bible says guided the ancient Israelites as they wandered in the desert. 'Clouds of glory.'
Winter said only when the soldiers were in a secure position, the fog finally lifted.
'It really was a fulfillment of the verse 'For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to give you victory,'' he said, quoting Deuteronomy 20:4.
The Times of Israel notes Winter made headlines over an official letter he sent to battalion and company commanders July 9, telling his subordinates that 'history has chosen us to spearhead the fighting (against) the terrorist 'Gazan' enemy which abuses, blasphemes and curses the God of Israel's (defense) forces.'
In his interview with Mishpacha, Winter defended his message, saying everyone finds God when in combat.
'Anyone who attacked me for the letter apparently has only seen weapons in pictures, was never in combat, and doesn't know what fighting spirit is,' he said, revealing that before going into action his custom was to recite the blessing with which the ancient Israelite priests would bless the army before it went to war.
'When a person is in a life-threatening situation he connects with his deepest internal truths, and when that happens, even the biggest atheist meets God,' he said, claiming soldiers see so many miracles, 'it is hard not to believe [in God].'

Miracle in Gaza: A bullet fired at an IDF soldier was stopped by a grenade. The bullet did not go through the vest or cause the grenade to explode.
Apparently the bullet came from a long distance and with rather low velocity and was unable to penetrate.
The grenade is a specially made grenade made by Israel Military Industries and was developed after a series of safety issues causing grenades to explode upon being hit with a bullet or shrapnel. This special type does not explode because of outside impact.

(4) Senior infantry officer describes divine protection in Gaza
Givati Brigade commander Ofer Winter says a mysterious cloud shrouded his troops during attack

An Orthodox infantry brigade commander said that divine miracles protected his soldiers during the fighting in the Gaza Strip.
Givati Brigade commander Col. Ofer Winter, who made the claims in an interview with the ultra-Orthodox weekly Mishpacha, met with criticism recently for rallying his troops with religious messages.
Winter lauded the importance of yeshiva students studying Torah as beneficial for the war effort. 'Especially in a time of war, when there is a strong urge to join the fighting forces, we need to emphasize that what the Jewish people need is yeshiva students who will sit and study Torah with greater strength and courage,' Winter said in the interview, which is to be published this weekend and was previewed by the website NRG on Thursday. 'Learning Torah protects the Jewish people more than anything else.'
Ultra-Orthodox rabbis have called off summer vacation in their yeshivas in solidarity with the soldiers fighting in Gaza.
Winter claimed to have witnessed a miraculous occurrence, the likes of which he had never seen before during his military career.
He said that a predawn raid that was intended to make use of the dark as concealment was delayed, forcing the soldiers to move toward their objective as the sun was about to rise. The soldiers were in danger of being revealed in the light but, Winter recalled, a heavy fog descended to cover their movements until the objective was achieved.
'Suddenly a cloud protected us,' he said, make a reference to the clouds that the Bible says protected the Israelites as they wandered in the desert. 'Clouds of glory.'
Only when the soldiers were in a secure position did the fog dissipate, he said.
'It really was a fulfillment of the verse 'For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to give you victory,'' he said, quoting a passage from Deuteronomy.
Winter made headlines over an official dispatch he sent to battalion and company commanders on July 9, telling his subordinates that 'history has chosen us to spearhead the fighting (against) the terrorist 'Gazan' enemy which abuses, blasphemes and curses the God of Israel's (defense) forces.'
In the missive he also called upon 'the God of Israel' to 'make our path successful as we go and stand to fight for the sake of your people of Israel against a foe which curses your name.'
Winter revealed that before heading to the combat zone he met with yeshiva leaders and Kabbalists and asked that they pray for the success of the mission.
He said the rabbis instructed him to take upon himself further religious obligations and that he chose to infuse his morning prayers with more concentration and thought. 'It is difficult,' he said, 'but I know that it is for the soldiers and I try to keep it up, to extend the prayers and have better concentration.'
