Esau (Edom) and the Blessings to Jacob. Part Two in a Series

Genesis 26:34 When Esau was forty years old, he took as wives Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite.
Esau intermarried with Hittites and with others. The Hittites had pockets in the land of Israel, in Syria, and in present-day Turkey. Sayce believed there were two kinds of Hittite, one a "Nordic" type and the other "Mongolian". Some depictions of Hittites are also similar to those of present-day Armenians.
The name of his wife Judith (Yehudith) could also hint at a partial future interaction with Judah.
The Nazis represented an aspect of Edom. They tried to exterminate the Jews. There may be some kind of connection here?
[Genesis 26:35] And they were a grief of mind to Isaac and Rebekah.
Esau took unsuitable women that were not of his own kind and this caused grief. Sometimes this can be done and sometimes not. The bottom line depends on the consequences.
Genesis 27:
1 Now it came to pass, when Isaac was old and his eyes were so dim that he could not see, that he called Esau his older son and said to him, 'My son.'
And he answered him, 'Here I am.'
This incident apparently took place after Esau had taken Hittite women to wife as mentioned above. Since Jacob and Esau were twins they were therefore at least forty years old when the events described took place.
The narrative continues and describes how Jacob took advantage of the blindness of Isaac and pretended to be Esau in order to receive the blessings.
God had made Isaac blind so that Jacob would receive the blessings. God wanted Jacob to receive these blessings in this way. Why?
Jacob was to receive the blessings (as we will see) through trickery yet he was by nature a simple uncomplicated person a dweller in tents. He was required to act in away diametrically opposed to his whole nature and upbringing. In effect he was risking his whole spiritual existence.
He had to present to be somebody he was not.
Jacob was to beget 12 sons. One of these sons was Joseph. We shall see how Joseph has many parallelisms and similarities to Esau. Joseph was destined to receive most of the blessings in the physical sense. In order to do this Joseph had to loose his identity, become like the Gentiles and act like them.
In effect Joseph disguises himself as Esau in order to do what he has to do. Joseph is not conscious of what he is doing or of who he really is BUT he does it anyway.
Genesis 27:
2 Then he said, 'Behold now, I am old. I do not know the day of my death. 3 Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me. 4 And make me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.'
At that time there must have been plenty of wild game in the Land of Israel . Isaac tells Esau to go out and do some hunting and come back and make me meal. This assumedly was not to take him more than a few hours. Esau must have been quite a good hunter.
Isaac wanted to satisfy his body and feel good in order to reach the necessary spiritual level he needed to.
We all have spiritual and physical needs. We should try to combine the two so that they work in harmony in permitted directions..
Genesis 27:
5 Now Rebekah was listening when Isaac spoke to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt game and to bring it. 6 So Rebekah spoke to Jacob her son, saying, 'Indeed I heard your father speak to Esau your brother, saying, 7 'Bring me game and make savory food for me, that I may eat it and bless you in the presence of the LORD before my death.' 8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to what I command you. 9 Go now to the flock and bring me from there two choice kids of the goats, and I will make savory food from them for your father, such as he loves. 10 Then you shall take it to your father, that he may eat it, and that he may bless you before his death.'11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, 'Look, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth-skinned man. 12 Perhaps my father will feel me, and I shall seem to be a deceiver to him; and I shall bring a curse on myself and not a blessing.'
13 But his mother said to him, 'Let your curse be on me, my son; only obey my voice, and go, get them for me.' 14 And he went and got them and brought them to his mother, and his mother made savory food, such as his father loved. 15 Then Rebekah took the choice clothes of her elder son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them on Jacob her younger son. 16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats on his hands and on the smooth part of his neck. 17 Then she gave the savory food and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
18 So he went to his father and said, 'My father.'
And he said, 'Here I am. Who are you, my son?'
19 Jacob said to his father, 'I am Esau your firstborn; I have done just as you told me; please arise, sit and eat of my game, that your soul may bless me.'
I am Esau your firstborn. In the Hebrew original the order of the words is: "I AM YOUR FIRST BORN ESAU". The stress of the words according to the sages was: "I AM, YOUR FIRST BORN, -ESAU". Jacob really was the firstborn since unbeknown to Isaac he had acquired the right to be considered the firstborn. Esau had sold the right of the firstborn to Jacob for a bowl of red lentils (Genesis 25:33). Isaac apparently knew that it was either Esau or Jacob. He did not think it was anybody else. Strictly speaking Jacob was deceiving Isaac but he was also telling Isaac that it was he (Jacob) himself and that he had the right of the firstborn, Esau.
Genesis 27:
20 But Isaac said to his son, 'How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?'
And he said, 'Because the Lord your God brought it to me.'
21 Isaac said to Jacob, 'Please come near, that I may feel you, my son, whether you are really my son Esau or not.' 22 So Jacob went near to Isaac his father, and he felt him and said, 'The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.
23 And he did not recognize him, because his hands were hairy like his brother Esau's hands; so he blessed him.
The voice was that of Jacob: Voice can represent spiritual content.
The hands were those of Esau: That can mean the actual physical means put into action.
Jacob in effect was taking over the task of Esau.
There are relatively recent Rabbinical Commentators who say that Esau was supposed to be the master of the physical world while Jacob would occupy himself with the Torah and spiritual existence. Esau would support Jacob and enable him to learn Torah. That was why Isaac preferred Esau.
There is something to this but at another level.
The Israelites were to have two tasks in the world: One was to learn Torah and develop it. In the end this was given to Judah.
The other task was to elevate humanity and rule over them. This went to the Ten Tribes especially to Joseph.
In the future Joseph and Judah will unite and they will share the fulfillment of both tasks between them.
Isaac when he wanted to give the blessing to Esau thought that Esau would fulfill the task of Joseph and also help Jacob.
Rebecca instinctively understood that it would not work.
Jacob needed to do both things. The fulfillment of both tasks had to come from Jacob no matter how. That was why she dressed Jacob in the cloths of Esau and put goat skin on his arms to make him seem hairy like Esau was.
Genesis 27:
24 Then he said, 'Are you really my son Esau?'
He said, 'I am.'
25 He said, 'Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son's game, so that my soul may bless you.' So he brought it near to him, and he ate; and he brought him wine, and he drank. 26 Then his father Isaac said to him, 'Come near now and kiss me, my son.' 27 And he came near and kissed him; and he smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him and said: 'Surely, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field which the LORD has blessed.
Here we have the field associated with the blessing of God. Esau was also called "a man of the field". Jacob had the smell of Esau on him from the clothes of Esau that he was wearing.
Genesis 27:
28 Therefore may God give you
Of the dew of heaven,
Of the fatness of the earth,
And plenty of grain and wine.
Agricultural plenty and great blessings.
Genesis 27:
29 Let peoples serve you,
And nations bow down to you.
Be master over your brethren,
And let your mother's sons bow down to you.
Cursed be everyone who curses you,
And blessed be those who bless you!'
Brethren i.e. brothers in Hebrew. This may also refer to cousins and other kinfolk. In this case the blessing meant he would rule over Ishmael (his uncle, brother of his father) and over Esau his brother.
Genesis 27:
30 Now it happened, as soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob had scarcely gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
This was Divine Providence. Jacob just managed to get out when Esau arrived
Genesis 27:
31 He also had made savory food, and brought it to his father, and said to his father, 'Let my father arise and eat of his son's game, that your soul may bless me.'
32 And his father Isaac said to him, 'Who are you?'
So he said, 'I am your son, your firstborn, Esau.'
33 Then Isaac trembled exceedingly, and said, 'Who? Where is the one who hunted game and brought it to me? I ate all of it before you came, and I have blessed him, and indeed he shall be blessed.'
I sometimes give talks and explanations of ideas I have to groups of people or individuals. Sometimes it comes out well and at other times something seems lacking. I find the differences are as much due to the audience as to myself.
Similarly Isaac gave the blessing to the person he believed to be Esau NEVERTHELESS in giving the blessing he realized he was only a conduit.
The blessing he was giving over was according to the will of God.
The blessing was being received by he to whom God wanted to bless.
Genesis 27:
34 When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, 'Bless me also, O my father!'
35 But he said, 'Your brother came with deceit and has taken away your blessing.'
36 And Esau said, 'Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright, and now look, he has taken away my blessing!' And he said, 'Have you not reserved a blessing for me?'
The name Jacob (Yaakov in Modern Hebrew) is derived from the root AKEV meaning heel. Jacob and Esau were twins. When they were born Esau came out first and Jacob came after him holding onto his heel.
In Hebrew this same word root can also connote Overtake, supplant as well as subterfuge or trickery as if to say come at something in a round-about way, deceive others.
Even though that was not why the name was given its meaning was encompassed in the name. The potential was there. We often come across cases like this in the Bible.
Later Jacob would be renamed Israel (Genesis 32:29, 35:10) which connotes both struggle with God and go upright from the root Yashar. So too, we have the name Yeshurun (Jeshurun, Deuteronomy 32:15 33:26) which is another name for Israel.
Jacob would be renamed Israel after struggling all night with an angel (Genesis 32:29). The angel (according to the Sages) was the guardian angel of Esau and the night represented the period of Exile. Jacob would be renamed a name (Yisrael) connoting uprightness because he will have earned it. And the angel of Esau will acknowledge it.
Genesis 27:
37 Then Isaac answered and said to Esau, 'Indeed I have made him your master, and all his brethren I have given to him as servants; with grain and wine I have sustained him. What shall I do now for you, my son?'
Jacob was to be the master of all peoples of the earth. This is not a fashionable thing to say but that is the impression received from Scripture.
WITH CORN AND WINE HAVE I SUSTAINED HIM: Great material prosperity.
Genesis 27:
38 And Esau said to his father, 'Have you only one blessing, my father? Bless me, me also, O my father!' And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.
39 Then Isaac his father answered and said to him:
'Behold, your dwelling shall be of the fatness of the earth,
And of the dew of heaven from above.
Esau is here promised a fertile place to dwell in. The Talmud says that at one stage this was Magna Graecia in Italy i.e. Southern Italy which was once very fertile. From there the sons of Esau moved. They were to help found the city of Rome and become important in other places.
Some Christian commentaries say the verse should be read: THY DWELLING SHALL BE [far away from] THE FATNESS OF THE EARTH: I do not know the source of this explanation and it does not fit the Hebrew as I understand it. It appears in some translations and is accepted by several Christian exegetes. It may be that the land southeast of Israel that is known as Edom is not regarded as being terribly fertile and the translators were trying to rationalize their translation and adapt the translated meaning according to their own understanding of reality as it was in the past. Against this it can be said that the Land of Edom was once much more fertile than it now is. Also Edom was scattered to several areas. A passage in an inscription from the ancient city of Ugarit on the north Syrian coast speaks of the well-watered land of Edom. There was a region belonging to Edom in the north. A region (usually ruled from Assyria) by the Habor River in Northern Syria was once known as "Idam Araz" meaning "Land of Edom" as noted by the researcher Michael Banyai.
Edomites were to become prominent in the hierarchies of Babylon, Ugarit, Assyria, and Phoenician Tyre, and later in Europe especially Germany.
Genesis 27:
40 By your sword you shall live,
And you shall serve your brother;
And it shall come to pass, when you become restless,
That you shall break his yoke from your neck.'
Descendants of Esau were warriors. Esau was a military man. The Talmud says that every war requires the presence of Esau in order to achieve victory.
That you shall break his yoke from your neck:
Onkelos translates this to say that when Jacob sins then Esau will asserts his independence or even acquire the domination.
German mercenaries and military men are famous. Elite groups of Germanic descent ruled over Russia and at some stage or other most of Europe.
The Samurai rulers of Japan may also have been of Edomite descent.
Genesis 27:
41 So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, 'The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob.'
Esau was the first anti-Semite. He cannot help hating Jacob. This explains the anti-Semites in the Identity movement and Replacement Theology. Replacement Theology says that Israel (meaning in their terms the Jews) were originally the Chosen People but now the Christians have replaced them. The anti-Jewish identity people say that the Jews are not true Israelites but rather they themselves are. In both cases you have the jealousy of Esau trying to regain the rights of primogeniture.
Genesis 27:
42 And the words of Esau her older son were told to Rebekah. So she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said to him, 'Surely your brother Esau comforts himself concerning you by intending to kill you. 43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice: arise, flee to my brother Laban in Haran. 44 And stay with him a few days, until your brother's fury turns away, 45 until your brother's anger turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him; then I will send and bring you from there. Why should I be bereaved also of you both in one day?''
REBEKAH had directed Jacob as how to obtain the blessing. Rebekah did this because God had told her that her younger son (Jacob) should receive the predominance. Isaac apparently was never aware of this Prophetic Revelation that Rebecca had received. Women often really do have intuition as to the true nature of people, of their children, of guests, etc.
Before Esau and Jacob were born Rebekka had felt the twins struggling in her womb and has asked God why?
She had been told:
Genesis 25:
23 And the LORD said to her:
'Two nations are in your womb,
Two peoples shall be separated from your body;
One people shall be stronger than the other,
And the older shall serve the younger.'
We saw above that the expression the older shall serve the younger in the Hebrew was not exact and it could change.
Nevertheless such was the primary meaning and such is how things should be.
By favoring Jacob and helping him receive the blessings Rebekka had been doing the will of the Almighty.
Rebekka herself was at a high spiritual level, probably close to being a prophetess, and she acted as she was inspired by the Almighty to do.
Rebekka had said concerning the possibility that esau should kill Jacob:
# Why should I be bereaved also of you both in one day? # (Genesis 27: 45).
Rebecca was a mother. She still loved her son Esau.
Esau without Jacob has no right to exist.
In trying to destroy the Jews and Israel the Edomites are working against themselves. Nevertheless they cannot help it that much. They feel in instinctive urge to try to destroy Israel. Many Germans in WW2 were prepared to fight to the death for Hitler. Some of them will now say that they never felt more alive and true to themselves than in those days.
Genesis 27:
46 And Rebekah said to Isaac, 'I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth; if Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, like these who are the daughters of the land, what good will my life be to me?'
Genesis 28:
1 Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him: 'You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan. 2 Arise, go to Padan Aram, to the house of Bethuel your mother's father; and take yourself a wife from there of the daughters of Laban your mother's brother.
3 'May God Almighty bless you,
And make you fruitful and multiply you,
That you may be an assembly of peoples;
4 And give you the blessing of Abraham,
To you and your descendants with you,
That you may inherit the land
In which you are a stranger,
Which God gave to Abraham.'
Here Isaac confirms the blessing to Jacob.
Isaac was here consciously announcing that the blessing to Abraham was to pass to Jacob. This was no longer dependent on subterfuge but an openly declared fact of existence. Isaac had been tricked at the conscious level but he realized that such was the will of God and he accepted it.
INHERIT THE LAND WHEREIN THOU ART A STRANGER: Also translatable as the land of your sojourning: This was applying to the Land of Israel but I would suggest that it also applies to the Ten Tribes who were to inherit the lands they would be exiled unto.
Genesis 28:
5 So Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Padan Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.
In Padan Aram Jacob met Laban and married his daughters from whom he begat twelve sons who became the Twelve Tribes of Israel.
Here is is emphasized that Rebekka was the mother of BOTH Esau and Jacob. It was also in the true interests of Esau that Jacob should receive the blessing.
Genesis 28:
6 Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padan Aram to take himself a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, 'You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan,' 7 and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Padan Aram. 8 Also Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan did not please his father Isaac. 9 So Esau went to Ishmael and took Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife in addition to the wives he had.
He see here that Esau married the daughter of Ishmael. Ishmael was the forefather of the Arabs.
It has been predicted that Esau (Edom) and Ishmael towards the End Times will attempt to Unite.
This may sound somewhat incredible BUT it is what many of the technocrats in Europe are now working towards.
Peop[le in the EU believe in the eventual union of the Muslim and Christian European worlds.
They are working towards the ultimate integration of the two.
This has been documented.

# America has the choice of forgoing its liberty and adopting the European line of dhimmitude and supplication, or maintaining its resolve to fight the war against terrorism for freedom and for universal human rights values. #
The Israelite Peoples of the Ten tribes and the Jews of Israel may face the threat of Islam and Europe working against them.
We should be prepared.

Poem: Esau
Esau was complete, red and hairy
A Macho guy, tough, no puny fairy.
He to Jacob was a brotherly twin
Carried together in maternal bin
Esau was eldest, first to emerge
Holding the ankle was brother Jack
in future their paths would diverge
Each to follow their own track.
Israel will find the way back.
The Savior of Israel shall not tarry
Joseph with Esau in war shall parry.
Jacob is Israel, while Esau is Edom
Two brothers fight over the kingdom.
Esau seeks Power, Jacob wisdom.
Esau was a hunter and outgoing
Jacob a student staying inside
Learning to understand and knowing
Awareness of Truth to be his guide.
Esau sold Jacob the firstborn right
Gave it away for pottage, without a fight.
Esau to his father was select
Isaac thought Esau the elect.
Isaac told Esau to bring him deer
Rebecca did chance to overhear.
She dressed Jacob in Esau's clothes
Jacob as his brother did pose.
Esau from the hunt came home
Found himself unblessed and all alone
The blessing to his brother given
Jacob to Esau remains unforgiven.
Isaac the blessings to Jacob did assure
Still for Esau he had one blessing more.
Esau would be a warrior mighty and strong
In the use of violence he saw no wrong.
Esau would rule and live by the sword
Over many nations he would be lord.
He would have wealth and fertile earth
In the eyes of Gentiles prove his worth.
Esau wished vengeance and Jacob to kill
For Esau murder means a rush and thrill.
His descendants went to Sparta and Rome
Later they sat on the German Throne.
Amongst Joseph too are Edomites present
They hate the Jews and Israelite Tribes
Brit-Am and the Bible they strongly resent
They use lies and flattery as bribes
To hurt Brit-Am and the Hebrew cause.
They work against us without pause.
HaShem will help us to overcome
In the End Brit-Am will have won..
