The State of Israel is the Alter Ego of the USA! Israel is what the USA is all about. The USA supports the State of Israel. Micki Haley, appointed by President Donald Trump, in the UN spoke up for Israel. The USA pressured the nations of the world through the UN to moderate their criticisms of Israel. The USA gives 3 billion dollars annually in military aid to Israel. The USA also benefits from all this. Nevertheless, US Support for Israel reflects an aspect of the US National Character. This reflects the Israelite Origins of the American People or at least of an important segment among them.
We will return to this matter but first let us look at the subject of US Support for Israel in general.

2. Israel-United States relations. Wikipedia Points
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel%E2%80%93United_States_relations
The Wikipedia article tells us that "Since 1985, the United States has provided nearly US$3 billion in grants annually to Israel."
Israel received more aid than any other country from 1976 to 2004.
Israel has received more assistance from he USA since World War-2 than any other country
"Seventy-four percent of these funds must be spent purchasing US goods and services."
# Almost all US aid to Israel is now in the form of military assistance, while in the past it also received significant economic assistance.... Late Republican Senator Jesse Helms used to call Israel "America's aircraft carrier in the Middle East", when explaining why the United States viewed Israel as such a strategic ally, saying that the military foothold in the region offered by the Jewish State alone justified the military aid that the United States grants Israel every year.#
# Trump was inaugurated as US President on 20 January 2017; he appointed a new ambassador to Israel, David M. Friedman. On 22 January 2017, in response to Trump's inauguration, the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his intention to lift all restrictions on construction in the West Bank. In September 2017 it was announced that the US would open their first permanent military base in Israel.
On 6 December 2017, President Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The US Embassy was opened in Jerusalem (while keeping the offices in Tel-Aviv) on May 14, 2018, the 70th anniversary of the Independence of Israel.
On 25 March 2019, President Trump signed the United States recognition of the Golan Heights as part of Israel, in a joint press conference in Washington with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, making the US the first country other than Israel to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
On 6 December 2017 U.S. President Donald Trump officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital and announced his intention to move the American embassy to Jerusalem. On 22 January 2018 Vice President Mike Pence in an address to the Israeli Knesset announced that the embassy would be moved before the end of 2019.
A 2013 Gallup poll finds 64% of Americans sympathize with Israelis and 12% with Palestinians. Analysis of the poll data showed that Republicans, conservatives and older Americans were more likely to be partial to Israel. Republicans (78%) were much more likely to sympathize with Israel than Democrats (55%). Democratic support for Israel has increased by four percent since 2001, while Republican support for the Jewish state has jumped 18 percentage points in the same period.
A 2015 Bloomberg Politics poll of Americans asked "When it comes to relations between the U.S. and Israel, which of the following do you agree with more?" 47% of respondents chose "Israel is an ally but we should pursue America's interests when we disagree with them." 45% of respondents chose "Israel is an important ally, the only democracy in the region, and we should support it even if our interests diverge." 8% were unsure.[
According to TIP, Israel is more popular among older Americans, Republicans, conservatives and Evangelicals and less popular among "liberal elites", African Americans and Democrats.

Two questions were asked on the Quora Forum relating to this issue:
Why does the US support Israel? What benefit does the US get out of this alliance?

What is the main reason for the US support of Israel?

There were 100s of answers. This reflects the importance attached tot his issue both by American Gentiles and by Jews everywhere.
Below are extracts from a few of the answers given. These answers are of value since they reflect both attitudes worth noting as well as imparting observations and information.

4. Scott Goldfinger: 'Judeo-Christian Values,' Mutual Benefit
The founding fathers of America based their new country on 'Judeo-Christian' values and the rule of laws and freedom. Many of those laws were based on the Jewish Bible, and The Ten Commandments.
The US supports Israel because both countries share democratic, western values. Israeli culture and values is similar to that of America. Israel is a genuine friend of USA.
Israel defends itself unlike numerous other countries such as Germany and Japan, Korea, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, the Gulf.
no American soldier dies for Israel.
"Most of the military aid given to Israel is in the form of credits that must be spent in the US.".
"Much of what is purchased through this military aid is often upgraded by Israel to new and better standards, then shared with the US on how to improve them."
# So for approximately half of what President Trump wants to build a border wall/fence with Mexico, $3 billion each year, the United States gets the highest tech, best trained, loyal army, forward outpost, air force, navy, and intelligence service as an ally in keeping peace in the Middle East, where the US has vital geopolitical and economic interests. #

5. Pankaj Singh: 'historic partners' in the global quest for human dignity and freedom as well as mutual goals.
Ronald Reagan, 'For the people of Israel and America are 'historic partners' in the global quest for human dignity and freedom. We will always remain at each others side.'
Since WW-2, US has vied to achieve two main foreign policy objectives::
Control the region in middle-east & its resources.
Prop-up its allies (even dictators).
# But US also wanted a stable middle-east so as to conduct its business unhindered.
Israel's intelligence inputs & insights about 'middle-east' is unparalleled throughout the world. For many decades, intelligence analysts have regarded Israel's Unit 8200 as one of the most elite in the world. The Israeli intelligence inputs about the middle-east have helped US a lot in controlling the region & benefiting from it in 'all sort of ways.'
For example, in 2010, the US & Israeli intelligence collaborated & created a 'malware' called 'STUXNET' to infiltrate Iran's cyber infrastructure. This has delayed Iran's nuclear weapons program by several years. (Obviously, US or Isreal never accepted that).
In 2015, more than 1/2 of the US foreign military aid went to Israel. That's about $3.1 billion.
... American 'evangelicals' ( a sect of Christianity) are a huge base of support for Israel. They believe (& its also written in Bible & other Christian religious texts) that when Jews came to Israel (or Jerusalem), it was an very auspicious moment. And during the Armageddon (or end of Earth), Jews & Christians will fight a 'common enemy' in Jerusalem...
Apart from that, US has a sizeable voting block of evangelicals. ... they supported Trump during the elections. So, Republicans always get support for supporting Israel.

6. Alexander Rusinov. Exceptions, Not always a Rose Garden!
Alexander Rusinov, pointed out that historically there were numerous instances in which the USA did not support Israel.
The USA nearly always helped Israel but sometimes it also hindered it.
For that matter Jewish bleeding hearts and other Jews also at times deliberately hinder the State of Israel.
In the Yom Kippur War of 1973 the USA supplied Israel with vital armaments. At the advice of Henry Kissinger their delivery was deliberately held up to 'let Israel bleed' and thus be more amenable to a negotiated solution after that.
#Don't get me wrong I think many Americans are Israel's friends. There were many Americans volunteers here in 1948 (and not only Jews).
But US government is our ally. Not less. Not more. They help us only while it's profitable for US interests. #
[Due in part to US pressure Israel gave up its control of Sinai.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Brit-Am Note:
Under President Obama the USA supplied aid to Israel but harmed Israel in the diplomatic arena.
On the other hand Obama also removed sanctions from Iran and enabled it to go ahead with its nuclear program whose declared goal was to destroy Israel.

7. Paul Dezso deHolczer: "Helping the Jews in Israel means keeping them away from here!"
Paul Dezso deHolczer (California, USA)
Extracts:
I have long had a theory about this.
I believe it is because America is anti-Semitic.
America supports Israel because America does not want more Jews.

Brit-Am Note:
Other reasons given for American support of Israel include:
The influence of Jewish Lobbies such as AIPAC.
Influence of the Jewish Community;
Popular American Consensus which is supportive of Israel.
Popular identification of US Gentiles with Jews both in America and in Israel.
Israeli contributions to science and development capabilities, computer technology, medical breakthroughs, water reclamation, hydroponics, communications, etc.

8. Gil Liebersohn: Help to Israel Upgrades the USA!
Extracts:
Originally Answered: Why is Israel receiving tons of aid from the U.S.?
In addition to the good answers given below:
Proportions.
American foreign aid to Israel is about 3bn $US a year.
Israel's government budget is above 120bn $US a year.
Israel's military budget is over 12bn $US a year.
American foreign aid, has these purposes.
Declaring USA affinity and alliance with Israel. Deter Israel's enemies mostly the USSR.
Preserving Jobs and keeping production lines open in defense industries in America. As the foreign aid demands only American made products allowed.
Having Israeli 'tried in combat' stamp on American defense products. An excellent selling point in selling weapons to other countries, including Arab countries.
Golden cage, or golden shackles on Israel's policies. Israel behaves as a client state, which upgrades American foreign status in the region. Foreign aid allows America to pull Israel's strings.
While having the American foreign aid, Israel preserves military material superiority. This superiority negates the need for Israeli preemptive strikes. Keeps the peace.
Israel's military superiority avoids the need for America to send troops, the way America protects Japan, Qatar, Turkey, Germany, South Korea and other places.
Israel's great military victories occurred in 1967 and 1973. No American aid back then. (until 1968 Israel was under arms embargo).
American foreign aid begun only in 1980, Following the 1979 peace treaty between Israel and Egypt.
Israel retreated from the Sinai peninsula, which was Israel's strategic depth. America agreed to compensate for loss of strategic depth.
Egypt used to be a soviet client.
In 1979 Egypt's tyrant had agreed to forsake the USSR and align with USA, in exchange for Israel's withdrawal from Sinai peninsula and 1bn $US foreign aid, a year.
Israel was given 3bn $US to offset the above deal.

9. Jeff Wilson: US Historically Always favored a Jewish State!
Extracts:
Jews fought in the American Revolution and supplied it with guns slipped through the British blockade. There have been Jews in America since the settlement at Jamestown. Even during colonial times there was support for a Jewish homeland.
"I really wish the Jews again in Judea an independent nation for, as I believe, the most enlightened men of it have participated in the amelioration of the philosophy of the age." - John Adams
Abraham Lincoln said something similar and practically every American President since has supported the formation of a Jewish homeland. Teddy Roosevelt donated some of the proceeds from the sale of his 'Teddy Bears' to Jewish causes. When the Soviet Premier at the time asked Lyndon Johnson why American support for Israel was so strong, President Johnson answered, 'Because it is right.' Israel is an island of freedom and democracy surrounded by totalitarian governments, we share a lot of values. How could the US not support it?

10. David Liphshitz: a win-win arrangement for both sides!
Extracts:
The USA maintain a strong , stable and faithful ally in the middle East - Israel - without even one American soldier.
While $3.8b is a lot of money, it's nothing compared to the cost of the USA military involvement in the middle East . The cost of the war in Iraq was $7b per each day! And the total cost of the USA military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan is estimated to be $3 Trillion !
Most this aid ($3.8b annually) is used to purchase USA made weapons, primarily military Aircrafts. Therefore, this money stays in the USA.
USA enjoys extremely valuable in-action experience and feedback from both the Israeli Air Force and innovative Israeli military industries which serves as a valuable advantage for both improving these aircrafts for the USA air Force and for selling those USA made Aircrafts to other countries.
The first kills by F-15 and F-16 was accomplished by the Israeli Air Force. This made huge contribution to making these 2 Aircrafts world best sellers ! Which means, of course, many jobs for USA workers and nice profits for USA aerospace and defense companies.
When you take this into consideration, it's a win-win and a good deal for the USA.

11. Ziaddine Chahoud: Ca. 35% of Americans have some Jewish Ancestry!
Extracts:
I cannot make a clear explanation, but I believe the United States support Israel for many reasons. We will have to go back to the past:
A very large portion of Americans are of Jewish ancestry. While only 5% are truly Israeli Americans, 30% Americans have at least distinct Jewish ancestry from several European and Moroccan Jewish families emigrated to the US at 19th and early 20th century escaping from European persecution.

12. Zev Sero: Israel Gave Up Sinai because of America!
Extracts:
The main reason is that the USA is obligated by treaty to compensate Israel for having given away the Sinai peninsula to make peace with Egypt. Both the Sinai's economic resources and the strategic depth it gave Israel were worth more than the money it gets. Israel gave this away because Jimmy Carter needed to rack up a peace deal on his resume, and in return the USA gave its solemn word that it would pay this compensation every year. Of course the USA can break its word any time it likes, and nobody can do anything about it, but so far it has chosen to keep this promise. Meanwhile, under the treaty, Egypt gets a matching amount, in return for... accepting the Sinai and all its resources, and agreeing not to destroy Israel! That makes no sense.

13. Doug Sandlin: Christian Zionism in America
Extracts:
Noam Chomsky has summarized it well.
'Christian Zionism is a very powerful force which goes back long before Jewish Zionism. In England particular, Christian Zionism was a powerful force among British elites. It's part of the motivation for the Balfour Declaration'.
Talking about the confusion which prevailed in 1948, he said,
'There was actually split between State Department and the Pentagon over how to react to the new state of Israel. State Department was not committed strongly to Israeli conquests and was concerned about the refugees whereas Pentagon was impressed by the military potential of Israel'.

14. Brian Hilgenkamp: Allies in the War on Terror
Extracts:
The US support for Israel started when other Arab nations started to get support from the USSR during the Cold War days. Israel turned first to the UK and France. But after the 1956 Suez crisis that support started to slide. The US had taken over aid for Israel around the 1967 war.
Modern day Israel is the most important ally for the US during the war on terror. replacing the UK in my opinion. Israel is to the US what the UK was to the US in the 20th Century of two world wars and the Cold War.
The US and Israel intel work together a lot. and Israel has a highly motivated and free society. their medical science is making (3d printing) organs with human tissue and possibly curing cancer.
What does the US get for its relationship with Israel. besides Intell and military partnership Israel civilians pumped 18.6 Billion$ into the NYCity economy alone.
Israeli Businesses Added $18.6 Billion to NY Economy in 2018
Bottom line Israel and Jews are not responsible for the problems of the world contrary to the Democrat party of the US. who desires to throw Israel under the bus.
