Tracing the Ancestry of Modern National Groupings
Seventy Nations. Israelites, Edomites, and the World
All of Mankind was wiped out in the Deluge apart from Noah and his family.
Noah had three sons Shem, Ham, and Japhet.
The total numbers of descendants of Noah were 70. Each individual people of the earth descends from one of the 70 sons of Noah.
At one stage the Assyrians conquered most of the world and deliberately intermixed the peoples bringing women from one area and mixing them with men from another, etc.
Different peoples have differing appearances, blood types, DNA groupings, and languages. These are all the outcome of environmental and geographical influences. In some cases parameters based on racial and linguistic factors overlap those of descent from specific descendants of Noah and his sons but the correspondence is often not exact and does not always even exist.
Abraham a descendant of Shem had 70 prime descendants. These included Ishmael, Esau, and Jacob (Israel).
All nations are now divided between Ishmael and Esau (also known as Edom) who comprise their ruling elites.
Israel had 12 sons and these had grandsons etc, together they too comprise 70 one for each nation of the earth. They will eventually rule over all other peoples.
Israel divided into two sections, Judah and the 10 Tribes who lost awareness of their ancestry.
Judah AND the 10 Tribes are independent of Esau to some degree but a constant struggle is going between descendants of Israel and those of Esau.
Japhet according to Josephus begat all the peoples from the Tanais (Don) River westward to Cadiz i.e. Spain.
Japhet also spread eastward throughout Asia to Japan. He intermixed with descendants of Ham and Shem.
Nations pertaining to the 10 Tribes also comprise elements from Esau and others (especially Japhet) within their ranks.
Judah is represented by the Jewish People. They consist of the Tribes of Judah, Benjamin, Levi, and minorities of the other Tribes alongside descendants of converts, etc.
The 10 Tribes are Reuben, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, Dan, Issachar, Zebulon, Simeon, Manasseh, and Ephram. They are now to be found to a major or minor degree (i.e. either minority or majority) among the peoples of the British Isles (including Ireland), the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium. France, Switzerland.
Edomites according to tradition settled in Italy, especially Rome, and in Germany. Edomites were also to be found among the Ancient Greeks, the rulers of Slavic Peoples and in Japan and elsewhere. They founded the first civilization of China though not many Chinese necessarily descend from them. Esau was depicted by the god Esus who was worshipped in Celtic lands and in Germany. This deity represented Esau the forefather of Edom. Esus became known as Odin and was also known to the Germans as “Koz” which was the same appellation used by the ancient Idumeans (descendants of Edom to the southeast of Judah) for their god.
The Sons of Japhet
Genesis (NKJV) 10:
1 Now this is the genealogy of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. And sons were born to them after the flood.
2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
3 The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
From these the coastland peoples of the Gentiles were separated into their lands, everyone according to his language, according to their families, into their nations.
Japhet gave rise to the Germanic and Celtic Peoples as well as the Slavs.
Ashkenaz became the Germans especially those in the north. In the south many of the Germans descended from Magog.
The Germans also include Canaanites in the north and Edomites in the upper classes. Israelites were also once quite numerous among Germanic Peoples but most moved away from them.
Riphath son of Gomer settled in the Balkans of Europe as well as among the non-Israelites elements among the Celts in the west.
The Celts of Gaul also have both Edomites and Israelites among them. The Edomites together with Philistines and Canaanite had acted as agents of Assyria in facilitating and exiling the Israelites to northern and western regions. Descendants of the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel settled on the fringes of Western Europe but were not necessary majority elements in all those areas. The Book of Hosea chapter 1 in symbolic form depicts the Exiled Israelites combining with Gomer son of Japhet.
Togarmah gave rise to some of the Germans as well as to Turkish Peoples.
Magog is to be found among the Russian Slavs, as well as the Mongolians, Chinese, Japaneses, and Koreans.
These too included Edomite, Hamitic, and Canaanite elements.
Madai became the Medes and others. The Baltic Lithuanians and Latvians speak languages similar to those of the Ancient Medes.
The sons of Javan (Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim) became a formational element among the Mediterranean Peoples (Portuguese, Spanish, Italians) as well as other areas of Europe and among the Slavics. These regions also included Canaanites, Moabites, Edomites, Israelites, and Jews. The name "Javan (i/e. Yavan) in Hebrew is usually taken to mean Greece and it is similar to the term "Ionia" which was applied to Greek-speaking peoples along the western coast of Anatolia (Turkey) but other peoples also settled in the Greek area and shared its language and culture.
Tarshish gave hius name to Tarsus in southeast Turkey and also to Tartessus (Tarshish) in southwest Spain. Canaanite Phoenicians, Edomites, and Israelites were to settle in this area as well.
Tubal is also often identified with Spain though parts of Russia bear similar names.
Meshech has been identified with Moscow.
Tiras became both the Thracians of southeast Europe amd part of the Persians who otherwise were identified with Elam son of Shem.
After the Flood many of these peoples iniitally settled in the Middle East and neigboring regions but fromt hese they spread outwards.
1. [About An. 2520] Now they were the grand-children of Noah, in honour of whom names were imposed on the nations, by those that first seized upon them. Japhet, the son of Noah, had seven sons: they inhabited so, that beginning at the mountains Taurus and Amanus, they proceeded along Asia, as far as the river Tanais; and along Europe to Cadiz: and settling themselves on the lands they light upon, which none had inhabited before, they called the nations by their own names. For Gomer founded those whom the Greeks now call Galatians [Galls], but were then called Gomerites. Magog founded those that from him were named Magogites; but who are by the Greeks called Scythians. Now as to Javan and Madai, the sons of Japhet; from Madai came the Madeans, who are called Medes, by the Greeks; but from Javan, Jonia, and all the Grecians are derived. Thobel founded the Thobelites; which are now called Iberes: and the Mosocheni were founded by Mosoch; now they are Cappadocians. There is also a mark of their ancient denomination still to be shewed, for there is even now among them a city called Mazaca; which may inform those that are able to understand, that so was the intire nation once called. Thiras also called those whom he ruled over Thirasians: but the Greeks changed the name into Thracians. And so many were the countries that had the children of Japhet for their inhabitants. Of the three sons of Gomer, Aschanax founded the Aschanaxians; who are now called by the Greeks Rheginians. So did Riphath found the Ripheans, now called Paphlagonians; and Thrugramma, the Thrugrammeans, who, as the Greeks resolved, were named Phrygians. Of the three sons of Javan also, the son of Japhet, Elisa gave name to the Elisians, who were his subjects; they are now the Aolians. Tharsus to the Tharsians, for so was Cilicia of old called: the sign of which is this, that the noblest city they have, and a metropolis also, is Tarsus: the Tau being by change put for the Theta. Cethimus possessed the Island Cethima. It is now called Cyprus: and from that it is that all Islands, and the greatest part of the sea coasts are named Cethim by the Hebrews: and one city there is in Cyprus that has been able to preserve its denomination: it has been called Citius, by those who use the language of the Greeks, and has not, by the use of that dialect, escaped the name of Cethim. And so many nations have the children and grand-children of Japhet possessed. Now when I have premised somewhat, which perhaps the Greeks do not know, I will return and explain what I have omitted. For such names are pronounced here after the manner of the Greeks, to please my Readers. For our own country language does not so pronounce them. But the names in all cases are of one and the same ending: for the name we here pronounce Noeus, is there Noah; and in every case retains the same termination.
