The Angles gave their name to England and to the Anglo-Saxons in general. They were also known as Aegel meaning bull-calf and confirming their identification with the Israelite Tribe of Ephraim. Another connotation of their name is Angel meaning Divine Emissary or agent. The Ten Tribes had a task to fulfill. They were agents of the Almighty. In a Biblical sense they were like angels.

Peace Yair,
I hope this Pesach was joyful and full of light for you.
Now, where exactly is this prophesied? Is it written exactly ''angli"? That
would be huge.
Best wishes,
Cristian

Cristian Shalom,
The quotation you made is from a Commentary of ours to Hosea ch1. In what context we recalled it I do not recall.
In future when asking questions, or commenting, etc, PLEASE be more precise in stating WHAT you are referring to and WHERE you saw it even when it was only yesterday that we mentioned it.
Lately the name Aegel and Angle was the subject of a recent article and YouTube Clip see:
Anglo Equals Ephraim!!!

Our answer consists of 2 parts:
(a) AGEL - CALF - CIRCLE - ANGLE?
This is an extract from The Tribes as we have quoted in our commentary to Hosea 1:10. We have added a few connecting words of explanation in [...]. as well as making a few other changes.

(b) An addition by us.

3. AGEL - CALF - CIRCLE - ANGLE?
[Hosea 1:10] YET THE NUMBER OF THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL SHALL BE AS THE SAND OF THE SEA, WHICH CANNOT BE MEASURED NOR NUMBERED; AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS, THAT IN THE PLACE WHERE IT WAS SAID UNTO THEM, YE ARE NOT MY PEOPLE, THERE IT SHALL BE SAID UNTO THEM, YE ARE THE SONS OF THE LIVING GOD.

Adapted (with minor changes) from "The Tribes":
"Angle" means corner or edge in some European tongues including English. It may ultimately derive from the Hebrew "agel" pronouncable as "angel" which can mean "circle, turn". This same Hebrew word means a young bull-calf probably since a young calf runs around in circles and frolics. The Angles and Saxons were the leading peoples who conquered the area of England from the British "Celts". England was named after the Angles and literally means "Angle-land". Rabbi Menasseh ben Israel (ca.1640) of Holland is said to have remarked that the name for England in French, i.e. "Angleterre"literally means "End of the Earth". The Lost Ten Tribes of Israel in Biblical Prophecy are frequently mentioned in connection with "the end of the earth" (e.g. Isaiah 49:6) and with "the ENDS of the earth" (Isaiah 41:9 in the plural since more nations than Britain are involved.

4. Angles as CHILDREN OF THE MOST HIGH
An additional signification of "Angle" comes from the Aramaic Paraphrase of Psalms. There is a verse, in the Book of Psalms 82:6, which reads: "I have said, Ye are gods; And all of you are children of the most High".
The Aramaic Paraphrase (attributed to Yehonathan and considered inspired by the Talmud) renders this as:
# I said, like Divine Messengers [ce-malakia] are you considered and Angels of the Heights [anglii me-roma] all of you. #
The phrase "CHILDREN OF THE MOST HIGH" is translated here as "ANGLII-Me-Roma".
Angli means the same as the English word "Angels".
Literally speaking however it would also be a plural form in Hebrew for Angle.
At all events it would appear that the Aramaic translation renders "Children of the Most High" as Angels, i.e. "You shall be as Angels". An "angel" is an agent of the Almighty who performs HIS will.
In Hebrew the usual word for "angel" is "Malach" which literally means "emissary, messenger". A "Malach" may be a human or spiritual being.
"Children of the most High" corresponds to other epithets applied to the Exiled Israelites, such as "Israel is my son, my firstborn" (Exodus 4:22)
"Ephraim my dear son.." (Jeremiah 31:20).
"I am a father to Israel and Ephraim is my firstborn" (Jeremiah 31:9).
The significance of the words "ANGLI", and "Aegloi" may be so put: Ephraim was called an Aegel (Jeremiah 31:18) [meaning a bull-calf in Hebrew].
The pronunciation of Aegel in Hebrew is interchangeable with Angle. Anglii [may be understood to mean], "Sons of the Most High." Ephraim is called "my son" - by the Most High. The Angles did dwell in an area associated with the Tribe of Joseph, the lands the Anglo-Saxons dwell in areas that today may be considered the "Ends of the Earth" when viewed from the Land of Israel as the center of the earth. The evidence presented in this book connects the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel with the Celts and Scythians and proves that they became the peoples of modern northwest Europe. Of these peoples, those of British descent became the most important historically and have had the most influence in the world, and for this consideration the U.S.A. and all other Anglo-Saxon nations can be grouped together with Britain. Groups from all of the Twelve Tribes of Israel were to congregate in Britain but of all groups the Angles and Saxons were the most determinative and had the most influence. This is appropriate to their identification as belonging to the Tribes of Joseph.

5. The Angels Shall Sing! The Significance of this name.
When the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy? (Job 38:7)
We showed that the name Angle or Aegel as it was also rendered was applied to the Angles who gave us the "Anglo-" in the term "Anglo-Saxon".
In Hebrew it means "bull-calf" and this was a term applied to Ephraim.
Rashi on Isaiah 27:10 (refers to Jeremiah 31:19) says that "eigel" (i.e. bull-calf) is a name for Ephraim.
Elsewhere Ephraim is called an Eiglah in the feminine i.e. a she-calf or "heifer" (Hosea 10:11). At all events the names Eigel and Eiglah are applied to Ephraim.
The Hebrew word "Aegel" for bull-calf may be derived from the root "AGL" (pronounceable as AnGL) and meaning to circle or turn. This could give us both the Hebrew aegel (a bull-calf is always turning and prancing etc) and the English angle meaning turning point.
The word Angle for the people of that name is also similar to the Latin word "Angel" meaning divine messenger.
This has been noted elsewhere.
Angles
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angles
The Angles are the subject of a legend about Pope Gregory I [pope from 590-604], who happened to see a group of Angle children from Deira [northeast England] for sale as slaves in the Roman market. As the story would later be told by the Anglo-Saxon monk and historian Bede, Gregory was struck by the unusual appearance of the slaves and asked about their background. When told they were called "Anglii" (Angles), he replied with a Latin pun that translates well into English: ... "It is well, for they have an angelic face, and such people ought to be co-heirs of the angels in heaven".. Supposedly, this encounter inspired the Pope to launch a mission to bring Christianity to their countrymen.
It was prophesied that the Ten Tribes in the End Times will be called
SONS OF THE LIVING GOD (Hosea 1:10 or 2:1).
The Aramaic Translation of Yehonathan translates this, A PEOPLE WHOM GOD SUSTAINS.
Yehonathan is highly revered in the sources.
His translation was based on that of another Talmudic Sage while he himself was one of the Sages.
The Aramaic translation of Yehonathan on Psalms 82:6 renders a related expression, "children of the most High" as "angli", apparently meaning angel but also in Hebrew Letters spelt the same as Angli meaning Angles in the plural.
The word Angel is said to be of Greek Origin but possibly derived from a Semitic source.
http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=angel
It may be Angel was a Greek word that had penetrated the Aramaic used by Yehonathan. Alternately it may have been an Aramaic term also used by the Greeks.
We thus have a putative link between Angel (a divine agent) and Angle (the people) in connection with the Ten Tribes.
We thought this worth mentioning.
It may be no more than coincidence but who knows?
Angels are agents or messengers of the Almighty.
So, in their own way, are the Ten Tribes of Israel.
