Insights into a Rabbinical Perspective on Early World History
Introduction.
Christian Creationists believing in the Bible often quote very valid reasons for rejecting Radio Carbon Chronology and other such inventions.
So too, Revisionist historians (often followers to some degree of Immanuel Velikovsky) also do the same.
In our article,

Orthodox Jewish Rabbis and the Subject of Evolution."

we mentioned:
"Mysteries of the Creation. A Cosmology Derived from Tanach and Chazal," by Rabbi Dovid Brown, Israel, 1997, in which he explains Creation, the Flood, Biblical History, etc, within the Framework of the Biblical Timeline, through Catastrophism (similar to that of Emmanuel Velikovsky) as indicated by Talmudic and Midrashic sources.
Below is a summarized adapted version of parts of what Rabbi Brown has on this subject.
Midrash Brayshit Rabah (10:4) says that at the beginning the years were shorter. The earth was closer to the sun. That means more energy and greater radiation but a watery mist provided protection.
Further Extracts:
There was a period when a portion of mankind degenerated to become like apes. Tectonic continental plates float on water. Before the Flood the earth was not inclined at a 23% as it is now. There were no seasonal changes. This explains the Ice Age. Continents were once joined together. The Mediterranean was mostly dry land.
Radio Carbon Dating:
Cosmic radiation has changed a number of times since Creation. In the past the moon was much stronger and had greater influence on the earth than it has today. This would have increased radioactivit. The intellectual and physical abilitiies of humankind have diminished. Cumulative knowledge on some matters however has increased.
In the past changes in the crust of the earth occurred creating mountain masses, etc. In the future more such events will take place changing how the earth now is.
Isaiah (TCT) 40:
4 EVERY VALLEY SHALL BE RAISED, AND EVERY MOUNTAIN AND HILL SHALL BE LOWERED, AND THE CROOKED TERRAIN SHALL BECOME A PLAIN AND THE CLOSE MOUNTAINS A CHAMPAIGN. cf. Isaiah 54:10, Psalms 97:1.
Palaeontolological discoveries show that at different Ages forms of life change almost simkiultaneoulsy throughout the world. This results in the parranet appearance and disappearance of whole groups of species. "The fossils go missing in all the important places." There are no intermediate types. Human behavior inlfuences the way plants grow.
