1. What is Qatar?
Qatar is country that projects into the Persian Gulf on its landward side. On its landward side it shares border with Saudia. On its seaward side it faces Iran across the water.
In early 2017, the population of Qatar was 2.6 million, although only 313,000 of them were Qatari citizens and 2.3 million were expatriates and migrant workers. Qatar has the fourth-highest GDP (PPP) per capita in the world.

Qatar was a slave state until recently.
It is interesting to note that many of these slaves were themselves Muslims.
Theoretically the impression is that Muslims do not take other Muslims into slavery. Whatever the case apparently there are exceptions.
Arab Muslims were in the habit of persuading Black African Muslims to make the pilgrimage to Mecca. Sometimes they would lend them the money to do so. Once in Arabia the Africans would often end up in Qatar serving as slaves to their fellow adherents of Islam.
Slavery still exists in Qatar mostly under the guise of labor contracts that never end.

In October 2023 the forces of Hamas in Gaza attacked Israeli settlements, killing raping, torturing, and taking captives of which approximately 50 are still in captivity.
Israle now controls ca. 2/3 of the area of Gaza but the most populated area is still under Hamas control.
The people of Gaza have been suffering intermittently from lack of food. Israel is not interested in starving the population though many in Israel would like to see them move elsewhere.
Israel and other interested parties make attempts to get food tot he population. To some degree they succeed BUT Hamas hijacks the food supplies and by forces disrupts its distribution.
Meanwhile the World Media, led by Al-Jazeera, claims that children in Gaza are dying and that Israel is responsible. This is not the case but some sufferin g is taking place.
Hamas wants it to. It is part of their strategy. They how that ultimately Israel will be forced to withdraw.
Perhaps an international coalition will be created to fight agaisnt Israel not only for the sake of Gaza but for all Palestine?

On July 3, 2025 The president of Ireland Higgins paid a vist to Qatar apparently to receive his marching orders.
On August 3 Higgins called on the UN to take urgent action in Gaza:
