Biblical Patriarchs and Heroes Compared to Greek and Celitc Myths by Eric (TubalCain)
From an old book [Origines Celticae by Edwin Guest] I found: "Sardus, son of Maceris, by the Egyptians called Herakles". Maceris could be Machir, son of Manasseh. Herakles or Hercules of Tiryns, near Argos,is quite a powerful individual who set up the Pillars of Hercules in Spain. He is mentioned in Celtic Myth as well. Sardus is likely Sardan or the Shardan sea people who lived in north Central Israel. The Sherden were around Acco or Acre in Israel. Adam Zertal said they were at El-Ahwat in the region of Manesseh and also in Megiddo. "Sardain" is a Welsh ancestor."Sardain" is father of Jove [Jupiter,"Job"? or the tetragrammaton-HaShem] who is the father of Dardain, ancestor of the Trojans. Macaar , mentioned in Greek and Irish myth [Ulster-Irians-descended from Er or Ir the Hero, apparently Ogygians], was associated with Troy [the island of Lesbos [next to Troy] is the Edos Maceros [seat of Macer] in Homer's Iliad] and also with the Lapiths of northeastern Greece. The Welsh claim Aenias (Aeneas) escaped Troy's downfall and led the Trojans first to Alba Longa in Latium, Italy and then Britus or Brutus his descendent led the Trojans to Wales and England where they founded New Troy [London]. Ascan was of the Welsh line and he may be the same as Aschanes ,ancestor of the Saxons."First Britus, son of Isacon, possessed Britain". Some of the Welsh claim to have started a kingdom in Germany, possibly Hanover Saxons-who were encouraged by British Monarchs to emigrate to Canada and the US (still British at that time before the American revolution). There was a Sardi clan of Zebulon and Zebulon possessed a town Sarid in Joshua 19:10. Zebulon often went with Machir as an ally in the Book of Judges. We are told that Machir was a "Man of War" and this seems consistent with the character of Herakles. Homer's Iliad mentions far Askania [led by Ascanios] as the Trojan's are gathering their allies for the coming war with the Achaeans,Danaans,Myrmidons, etc. In Greece.
The British Royal Family apparently trace some of their ancestors to the Royal House of Askania [I believe,Saxons of Germany]. Irish history mentions Sardan as an ancestor of Gola Gallamhail , father of Be Chrotha [Chryse]?, wife of Dardan of Troy. "Thou slewst another haughty pair-what nation but deemed it grievous?-on the mountain [Mt. Ida?] of Tiris [Troy?], it is no falsehood, Ilis [Ilus of Troy ,from which the city of Ilium [Troy] derives its name] and Iacobo [Jacob? or Israel?]" See" Duanaire Finn 'book of the lays of Fionn" , a translation from 1908 is on the web. According to Welsh Myth Corineus led the Trojans to Wales, England and Scotland through his descendants. He is properly identified as Coroneus the Lapith in Greek myth according to L. A. Waddell "Phoenician Britain". Britus (or Brutus of Troy) is identified with Pirithous, the Lapith. Peleus, the father of the hero Achilles, was accused by Astydamia of trying to seduce her [the opposite was the case-an example of Potiphar's wife motif related to Joseph!].Among the Ephraimites there was a group called the "Peloni" mentioned in the Bible; however, there was no town or region in ancient Israel called "Pelon". Peleus was associated with Mount Pelion in Greece. L. A. Wadell believed that the root "Pel" was an old name for the Isle of Britain "Fel Inis" or the Island of Fel or Pel [P is substituted as F in celtic languages-at least in Irish.].
Ebraucus of Wales had a son Assaracus, who founded a Kingdom in Germany and he had family ties to the Trojans still in Alba Longa in Latium. Ebraucus is from Efrawg which in the Beth-Luis-Nion of the Irish means the vowel "Ao" corresponding to the Yew tree, but it is sometimes labeled as "Hebrew "or "Affraim" [Ephraim?]. Eboracum was the old name for "York" in northern England and it was associated with Peredur , son of Efrawg or Efrog, thought to be a Brythonic prince. Bered is an Ephraimite name in the Bible and the Welsh change B->P [this apparently happens in the Hebrew language as well]. Bered->Pered or Pered-ur? vowel "Ao" in Irish alphabet is given the name of "Yew" ,"Eber" or "Affraim" [with variant spellings like Efraum]. This vowel "Ao" corresponds to the Welsh "Efwr" or "Efwrg" where "w" probably acts like "waw" or "vav" in Hebrew. York is Efrog or Caer efrog or Caer Ebrauc [city of Ebrauc]. Caer correponding probably to "Kir" in Hebrew which means town, city, etc. Also, Breton [Brittany, France] says "evor."
In Irish myth.Nuadu was King of the Tuatha de Danaan before they arrived in Ireland. Nuadu had his arm wounded like Agamemnon during the Trojan War. Achilles, son of Peleus, and Agamemnon led the Achaeans and Danaans during the Trojan War. However, Nuadu may not necessarily have been a Danite even though he was their king. Nuadu is often linked to Nudd or Ludd Llaw Eraint [compare Erani clan of Ephraim] in Welsh myth. Ludd apparently gave London, the capital of England its name, derived from Caer Lud "city of Lud". This Irish [or Welsh?] Nuadu had a son Elada or Eladan. In the Bible, Eladah, linked to Eran of the Erani clan, was a descendent of Ephraim. Nuad or Nuadu is supposed to be the son of Achy, an Achaean of Greece [like Peleus and his son Achilles] known as Ahhiyawa or Akhiyawa [Hebrew:Brother] or Akhiya to the Hittites. The Achaeans are very closely associated with the Danaans in Greek myth, almost like they are the same people. The Nemidhites came to the British Islands in three groups:
Danaans and Fir Bolgs settled Ireland and Scandinavia [Dananns], but Britains [Fergus Redside] settled Wales, England and Strathclyde in Scotland. The Britains do not seem to be Danaans but were connected to them as relatives or fellow travellers. We know that Danaus and Aegyptus colonized in Greece and Aegyptus was King of the Achaeans in Ithaca, Greece [Homer,Odyssey]. Aegyptus was given the rule of Egypt [like Joseph made a Prime Minister] and he had the rule of Arabia, apparently Gesem of Arabia, thought to be Goshen. L. A. Waddell connected the Lapiths and Achaeans to the Picts and Old Britains. A further note is that "nun" and "lamedh" can be exchanged in Hebrew like in Celtic languages: Nudd or Ludd. Another interesting fact is that "Tat", "Tath" [a brother of Partholan] or "Tait" an ancestor of Achy and Nuad has a name similar to Tahath of Ephraim [name is spelled Thaath in LXX Septuagint]. Sometimes "Sera" is mentioned in Irish Chronicles as an ancestor of Tai [Tait] and this compares with Timnath Sera, the residence of Joshua the Ephraimite!
An example of the Welsh habit of replacing B with P is in Shakespeare's play "The Merry Wives of Windsor" where Mr. Evans says "anypody home" instead of "anybody" home. The Scots have a cake called Bannock and Panug in Hebrew is a cake. Pirithous, King of the Lapiths, linked by Waddell to Britus or Brutus of Troy, is Birith-ous [remove Greek -ous suffix which occurs in many names] when P->B. Berith or B'rith means "covenant" in Hebrew. Lapith may be linked to the Hebrew name Lapidoth, husband of Deborah who judged Israel in the mountains of Ephraim and asked "and Dan...why does he dwell in Ships". Maybe Ephraim, whose border adjoined Dan, had ships as well... Apparently, the Hebrew in The Book of Judges does not explicitly state that Deborah was married to a man named Lapidoth, but that she was a "woman of Lapidoth" thus possibly indicating that she was fiery [from Lapid=torch] or there may have been a group of Ephraimites [Deborah is not explicitly called an Ephraimite either, but she judged in the area of Ephraim] called Lapidothites of Lapid-oth from Lapid, a torch. Possibly, there was a town or region of Lapidoth in Israel or Greece [Lapiths] and Deborah,a "woman of Lapidoth" would indicate her place of origin. By the Bible's chronology, Deborah was the judge of Israel around 1283 BCE. The Trojan War traditionally occurred 1193-1183 BCE. It coincided with the collapse of the Hittite Empire based by the Kizil Irmak [Red River] in Turkey [Cappadocia]. Judges 4:4 "esheth lapidoth" can be translated as "fiery woman" [lapid=torch] see Midrash Talmud (Megilla 14a), but it is usually translated as "Wife of Lapidoth". The Lapiths were in Greece at the same time as Deborah as we can ascertain by tracing generations back [25 years per generation] before the Trojan War 1193 BCE and statements in Homer and Greek Mythology, evidence from Hittite and Egyptian Records, etc. Aeolus was the ancestor of the Lapiths. He appears in Irish myth as Eolus and is associated with Macaar, Er and Og. The Tuatha de Danaan went to the Isles of northern Greece. This was the region near the home of Peleus and Achilles.
