"Symbiosis," Introduction by Yair Davidiy
My name is Yair Davidiy. I represent Brit-Am/Hebrew Awareness. Our Movement researches the location of descendants of the Lost Ten Tribes among Western Peoples.
We also spread knowledge of our findings. In addition to that Brit-Am/Hebrew Awareness works for the reconciliation and eventual Re-Union of the Jews of Judah with the Ten Tribes.
These are the Three Rs of Brit-Am:
1. Research,
2. Recognition (Revelation of Research Findings),
3. Reconciliation between Judah and the Ten Tribes.
The beliefs of Brit-Am are:
(1) Truth of the Bible.
(2) Acceptance of the Jews as Judah.
(3) The Lost Ten Tribes are now present among Western Peoples.
I am not the main speaker today. We have a special Guest Speaker. He is Rabbi Avraham Yionah Feld.
Rabbi Avraham Feld is a friend of ours from way back. Rabbi Feld helped Brit-Am when it began.
Since then our ways have parted but we are still friends and co-operate from time to time.
In this present talk Rabbi Feld, speaks of the historical connections between Judah (the Jews) and Ephraim representing the Ten Tribes.
Rabbi Feld also points out that,
The enemies of Judah are the enemies of Western Peoples especially those of Joseph who gave rise to the English-speaking peoples.
The USA helps Israel.
In the First World War (1914-1918) Israel did not exist. There was however a large Jewish settlement in the area of Palestine which was then ruled over by the Ottoman Turks.
The Turks were allies of the Germans and Austrians against the British and French. The USA was neutral until 1917. Due to Turkish policies the Jews in Palestine were frequently in danger of dying of starvation. The USA sent ships with food supplies to save them.
The enemies of the State of Israel are also the adversaries of the Western World.
In the First World War, we had the Campaign of Gallipoli (17 February 1915 to 9 January 1916). This was an attempt to take control of the sea passage that separates Turkey from Europe. By conquering Gallipoli the Allies hope to gain control of Turkey and take her out of the War, or even use Turkey to attack Germany and Austria. They would also lessen pressure against Russia who at that time was an ally of the British and French. The Allied Forces included British, French, and ANZACs from Australia and New Zealand. [My grandfather, Leo Jacoby, was a liaison officer between the British and French]. Even though the Campaign was unsuccessful it was important in the national Consciousness of Australia and New Zealand. They proved themselves to be exemplary warriors. It was also important to the Jews since an independent Zionist Forces under Joseph Trumpeldor was allowed to fight alongside the British. It was also import to Turkey since the Turkish commander Mustafa Kemal later became the ruler of Turkey and reformed the country in its modern form.
An other seminal event was the Charge of the Light Brigade (25 October 1854) in the Crimean War (October 1853 to February 1856). In this war Russia was defeated by an alliance of the Turkish Ottoman Empire, the United Kingdom, Kingdom of Sardinia (North Italy) and France. The Campaign resulted in ultimate victory with some mishaps along the way. The most statling of these was the Charge of the Light Brigade. A British force of cavalrymen misunderstood the orders they were given. They attacked a well-entrenched Russian position that was a good distance away from them. They reached the place after suffering a good many casualties on the way, turned around and went back. Even though it was a minor disaster they had exhibited great courage and dedication in carrying out the order as they had understood it to be. The action was later romanticised. The Poet Laureate, i.e. official government bard, Alfred, Lord Tennyson wrote a famous, very dramatic and inspiring poem about it. It became something of a legend of British courage. Rabbi Feld in the following essay refers more to the legend than the actual deed. Its public image has symbolic meaning in its own right. Indirectly it may have helped give rise to the State of Israel! As a result of Britain and France winning the Crimean War the Russian encroachment in the Middle East at that time was stopped. The British and French then themselves became more involved in the area. The French built the Suez Canal but let the British buy it. The British took control of Egypt and then after World War-1 (with the agreement of France) established British Rule over Palestine.
The Crimean War also saw the appearance of Florence Nightingale who established the modern system of nursing and helped reform the medical treatment of British soldiers.
All these events, and more, also have significance in the interplay and symbiosis of Judah and Joseph as Rabbi Feld explains in the following lecture.
