Sons of Japhet versus Descendants of Shem? (28 October 2015, 15 Cheshvan, 5776)
The name German was always applied to the ISRAELITE nations. The region in southern Persia where the Pasargadae (sons of Gad) and Achaemenids dwelt was known as Carmania, which is but a variant spelling of Germania. Herodotus even called the inhabitants of this land Germanii or Germanians. (Herod. i.125) The interchange of the 'g' and 'k' in ancient languages is well-attested. (You yourself have already met with Omri-Gomri-Kumri.)
Ptolemy mentions a city of Germanicia, near Antioch in north Syria (Geog. v.15, §.10), in land which at one time belonged to the northern kingdom of Israel.
I can show that the tribe of Arod (var. Arodi) son of Gad arrived in Spain during the time of king Solomon. The name Arodi, when transliterated into Greek, becomes Eurotas. These sons of Gad became known as Gaditani. The people called Oretani, who were dwelling in Spain as late as the first century CE, were also Gaditani, the name Oretani being a variant spelling of Arodi. Pliny informs us that the Oretani were also known as Germani. (Nat. Hist. iii.3 (25) or iii.4 in John Bostock's translation)
”The name Germany, on the other hand, they say, is modern and newly introduced, from the fact that the tribes which first crossed the Rhine and drove out the Gauls, and are now called Tungrians, were then called Germans. Thus what was the name of a tribe, and not of a race, gradually prevailed, till all called themselves by this self-invented name of Germans, which the conquerors had first employed to inspire terror.”‚¬ (Tacitus, Germania 2.)
This interpretation is contrived, but we may conclude from what he says that the Tungrians were one of the first of the Germanic tribes to arrive. During the time of Ptolemy, their chief city was “Atuacutum, which is Aduatuca or Tongern”,¬. (Entry under Tungri in Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography Vol. 2, p.1239, William Smith, London 1872.) The Aduatici, who gave their name to this region, appear more correctly to be descendants of Ard son of Benjamin. They will have given their name to the nearby forest of Arduenna.
We should bear in mind that the name German is our Anglicised name for the country which itself is derived from the Latin. The French call Germany Allemagne after the Allemani who at one time passed through the land. As you well know, the Allemani, who were also called Alans, were more specifically named after Elon son of Zebulon. Part of Germany was also known at one time as Saxony, which (as you well know) takes its name from the Saxons who at one time dwelt there. The Germans themselves actually call their land Deutchland, a name which is related to the word Dutch. You need to bear these distinctions in mind.
I am finding that the MAJORITY of the Germanic and Celtic tribes are of ISRAELITE descent. Those that are not Israelite are either Edomite or Assyrian. They are most certainly NOT Yaphetic! (NB: The only Canaanites to settle in Europe were the Black Canaanite Berbers who conquered Spain under the leadership of the Arab Ummayyads in the beginning of the 8th century CE and held the land until the end of the 15th century CE. The only Canaanites living in Europe today are those who have migrated there in the past couple of centuries.)
As already stated in a previous email, the Yaphetic tribes were all of the eastern oriental type and many of those Yaphetic tribes still go under their family names, though those names have become unrecognizable due to phonetic/linguistic changes. The Japanese and Chinese, for example, cannot pronounce the letter 'L' hence Tubal becomes Tubau or similar. Tubal can be traced to the Tuoba Xianbei of northern China as well as the Tuvyans of southern Siberia. Riphat appears in the metathesised form of Buryat. They can be traced to the Buryats of Buryatia of south-central Siberia, and so on.
The Ashkenazim, whose land was known to the Assyrians either as Ushkana or Ushkakkana, were deported by Tiglathpileser III:-
"The lands of Namri... the land of R..), as far as the alkali desert, the lands of Ushkakkana, Shikraki, (the land) of gold, provinces of the mighty Medes, I overpowered (lit., covered) as with a net, to their farthest border... ... The cities in these (districts) I rebuilt. The weapon of Assur, my lord, I established therein. People of the lands my hands had conquered I settled therein. My official I set over then as governor." (Luckenbill, Ancient Records of Assyria and Babylonia Vol. 1, pp.285-6, §.795 - emphases mine.)
These lands, which were conquered by Tiglathpileser III, were in the land of Urartu in the west - NOT in the land which in later times became known as Medea to the north of the Zagros mountain range. It was in these lands in Armenia which Tiglathpileser conquered that he placed the Ten Tribes. This land of Ushkakkana is where Targum Yonathan places the land of Ashkenaz. Ptolemy even mentions a city of Sakanaz in this region. (Geog. v.18, §.10) The Ashkenazi people, however, were relocated by Tiglathpileser III to somewhere between the Caspian Sea and Black Sea.
Herodotus, who, using the Greek form of the name, called them Sigynnae, informing us that, in his day, they were located in Europe, to the north of the river Ister (Hister or Danube):-
"I can learn of no men dwelling beyond the Ister save certain that are called Sigynnae and wear Median dress. [i.e. of the oriental style]. Their horses are said to be covered all over with shaggy hair five fingers' breadth long, and to be small, blunt-nosed, and unable to bear men on their backs, but very swift when yoked to chariots. It is for this reason that driving chariots is the usage of the country. These men's borders, it is said, reach almost as far as the Eneti on the Adriatic Sea. They call themselves colonists from Media. How this has come about I myself cannot understand, but all is possible in the long passage of time." (Herod. v.9)
The use of small horses and carts/chariots, such as those described above by Herodotus, was a Chinese practice. Strabo informs us that, in his day, they were located back down south in the region between the Caspian Sea and Black Sea (Strabo xi.xi.7), which is where Tiglathpileser III had originally placed them. These Ashkenazim became the Xiongnu of north China. The people of Germany are NOT Ashkenazim. This is a misnomer. The Ashkenazi Jews certainly came from the land of Ashkenaz, but the Ashkenazi people had long moved on when the Jews were settled there by Nebuchadnezzar. Note that by this time, the land was under Chaldean control and is referred to in the Book of Ezekiel as "the land of the Chaldeans". (Ezek. 1:3)
The Medes were a Yaphetic race. They were named after Madai son of Yaphet. The RULERS of the Medes were at one time ISRAELITES though EDOM eventually took control of the throne away from the sons of Dan. Many of the later kings of Assyria were likewise Edomites. Sennacherib, and his family were Edomite. Nebuchadnezzar and his family were Edomite. Neriglissar claimed to be son of Bel-shum-ishkun (Records of the Past: Being English Translations of the Assyrian and Egyptian Monuments Vol. 5, p.139 , Edited by S. Birch, S. Bagster and Sons, London 1873.), which is "the second name of another late Assyrian king, either Shalmaneser [V] or Sargon [II], probably the latter". (History of Ashubanipal translated from Cuneiform Inscriptions p.323, George Smith, Williams and Norgate, London 1871.)
Bear in mind that Hitler was an Austrian. He was an Edomite. He was NOT a German. The name Austria DOES NOT mean 'eastern realm' as is usually argued. Austria means 'land of Etser' (variant Ister), where Etser is to be identified as Etser (Atser) son of Seir. (Gen. 36:21 & 1 Chron. 1:38) The name Ostereich therefore means the 'kingdom [or realm] of Etser son of Seir'. These Istrians are the Tauri who the Romans inform us settled in the land. Believe it or not, the name Tauri, including the variant spelling of Taurisci, is a corruption of the name Etser. The Taurus mountains in north Syria also take their name from this people.
I hope that this information is of assistance to you. I strongly believe that you are grossly underestimating the size of the Ten Tribes.
