1870 - "Because of the sin of Geiger's Reform Shulchan Aruch, a new German 'Shulchan Aruch' is going to be written with one 'halacha': Leave no Jew alive!" (Maggid of Kelm).
1881 – Rabbi Elchanan Wechsler writes a book "Azhara", about dreams he had of Jews being rounded up, taken to concentration camps, exterminated and burned.
1889 - "Zugt Tehillim! I can sense that a man who will be even more evil than Homon has just been born: pray that he dies a missa meshuneh!" (Shinever Tzaddik). The date: April 20th, at the very hour of Adolf Hitler's birth! Hitler himself was conceived on July 20 1888 - a Tisha b'Av.
1891 - "When the Jew loses his Torah, which is his very essence, he actually becomes like an imitative ape. And then the goyim start to consider the Jew as being something less than human, literally worthy of extermination - an untermensch: a subhuman!" (R.Naftali Zvi Berlin).
1896 - The English author M.P.Shiel writes a story about a future band of monstrous criminals that ravage across Europe, slaughtering and burning their victims corpses. The story was entitled "The S.S.".
1923 - The Yiddish poet Uri Zvi Greenberg pens "In the Crucifix Kingdom" ("In malchus fun tseylem") anticipating the Holocaust, about a future European wasteland of Jewish agony and death, with corpses hanging from the continent's trees, its rivers disgorging naked bodies of murdered victims, its soil toxic with Jewish blood.
1925 - "Men think that Berlin is the new Jerusalem. But the coming storm of destruction will emanate davka from Berlin" (R.Simcha Meir of Dvinsk).
1929 - "The 12 million dead of the Great War? That was child's play. The real thing will start in 10 years time" (Chofetz Chaim).
1938 - "Sword and Slaughter are coming to the world because men fail to study the Zohar Hakodosh" (R.Yehudah Ashlag).
1939 - "The Heavenly Decree against Europe's Jews cannot be reversed and will be worse than that of the destruction of the Second Temple. Its like has not been seen since the world was created!" (Rebbe of Karlin).
The key to all the events of history is: ain puronius bo l'olam elo bishvil Yisroel. Many sources, the Zohar, Vilna Gaon, Toldos Yaakov Yosef, R.Ibn Yachya etc. pinpointed 5698 - 5708 as being years of portent (L'chol Eis, R.M.Glazerson 1987).
May 1940, `Operation Dynamo': 340,000 British and French soldiers rescued in nine days by an armada of little boats. "The tale of the Dunkirk beaches will shine in whatever records are preserved of our affairs. Had the sea been even slightly choppy, all would have been lost. G-d withheld the wind" said Winston Churchill, who was indubitably one of the shloshim kesef of Chullin 92, and "a chossid of the nations" ("Winston Churchill - man of destiny", R.Boruch Horovitz 1965).
From then followed two years of unbelievable success as the Nazis, fanatical to the point of madness, smashed their way into the skies over England, up the mountains of the Balkans and Caucasus, across the frozen steppes of Russia, deep into the African deserts, and beneath the waters of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. 50% of the huge British merchant marine was sent to the bottom: "The U-Boat was the only weapon I really feared" (Churchill) - "Should Edomite Germany ever sally forth from out of its land it will destroy the entire world" (Megillah 6).
For Hitler nothing could go wrong. Then in summer 1942 he commenced the Endlosung in earnest, thus violating Hashem's adjurement to the nations not to overly oppress Yisroel (Kesubos 111), and from then on nothing could go right for him; see "Divine Madness - a defense of Hashem in the matter of the Holocaust", R.Avigdor Miller 2013.
As Rommel battered on the gates of Eretz Yisroel, the German grand strategic plan envisaged a vast pincer movement from the Caucasus, Africa and Asia Minor, to unite with the Japanese in the Persian Gulf, who were to advance through India. However once the line Leningrad - Moscow - Stalingrad was reached, and most of Europe's Jewry was in Nazi clutches, to have advanced further would have served no purpose in fulfilling the tochochos of Dvorim 28, and the Creator said `Dai!' - far enough; see "Miracle at El Alamein - the story of the rabbis who stopped the Nazi onslaught at the gates of Eretz Yisrael", R.Zeev Paretzky 2014. Of all Hitler's campaigns, the only one that could be considered a 'success' was his annihilation of 80% of European Jewry.
Even though the Germans themselves had taken horrendous casualties, yet they were still far from beaten, as the Allies learnt to their bitter cost again and again in the Wehrmacht's rock-hard resistance whilst slowly withdrawing in order, skillful flexibility in defence, and ability to mount ferocious counter-attacks. The term Gegenangriff was learnt in full at Dieppe, Kasserine, Kursk, Cherkassy, Monte Cassino, Anzio, Narva, Strasbourg, Targul Frumos, Dodecanese Islands, Wilkowischken, Hurtgen Forest, Scheldt Estuary, Aachen, Lake Balaton etc.etc. For this was the very nation against whom Yaakov Avinu beseeched al titain Hashem ma'avayei rosho (Tehillim 140).
Even at this late hour, many of the one million Jews of Hungary and Romania still lived. The desperate attempts to save them could have succeeded (eg.the Blut fur Ware "Europa Plan" of R.Weissmandl), but were thwarted by the secular Zionist leaders: "One cow in Palestine is worth more than all the Jews in Europe" (Yitzhak Greenbaum, Chairman Jewish Agency); "Palestine cannot be allowed to be flooded with undesirables" (Henry Montor, Director UJA): sh'aini ma'amid sonim elo mikem ub'chem (Rashi Vayikra 26:17). The whole sordid story came out in the 1955 Kastner trial: "Why do You still gaze upon the traitors ?" (Chavakuk 1); see "Perfidy" (Ben Hecht 1962).
The June 6 1944 D-Day invasion of Festung Europa was fortuitously named "Operation Over L-rd", and on its eve Montgomery stated "Let us pray that the L-rd, mighty in battle, will go forth with our armies, and that His special providence will aid us in the struggle". In September 1944 he daringly tried to end the war by the new year by 'bouncing the Rhine' in Operation Market Garden, dropping 30,000 airborne troop behind the enemy lines in Holland. Unfortunately lo l'kalim hameirotz - "the race is not always to the swift" (Koheles 9), and the attempt was thwarted at the battle of Arnhem Bridge.
With this setback, plus the coldest winter on record, British manpower shortage, industrial and political unrest, and London coming under V1 (Doodlebug) and V2 rocket attack, to the Allies total surprise on December 16 1944, 400,000 Panzergrenadiers, as dangerous and savage as cornered Bavarian timberwolves, yecharsemenoh chazir miya'ar - "the boar will ravage forth from out of the forest" (Tehillim 80) - burst from out of the darkness of the Belgian forests: "We will yet master fate: counter-attack out of the Ardennes, objective Antwerp......slice between the British and Americans armies to create a second Dunkirk..........!" (Hitler). Had the "Battle of the Bulge" succeeded, the time bought would have enabled the Nazis to fully bring to bear their new Komet, Sturmvogel and Blitz jets, Type XXI submarines, Konigstiger tanks, Sturmgewehrs, Nebelwerfers, Lunageschutzen, V10 missiles (to bombard the USA), botulism, nerve gases,and nuclear explosives: "We can still lose this war!" (General George S.Patton). Fortunately the plan was over ambitious and faltered: ga'avas adam tashpilenoh (Mishle 29) - zeh Amolek (Bamidbar Rabbah 13).
The blessing b'charbcho tichyeh of military prowess in tactics and weaponry bestowed by Yitzchok Avinu upon Eisov, whose descendants went on to rule Rome, Carthage, Bozrah, Mocha, Thrace, Tyre, Sparta, Anatolia and Seville, reached its highpoint in the German blitzkrieg tactics of aufmarsch, gefechtsstreifen, schwerpunkt, einbruch, durchbruch, flache und luketactick, aufrollen, keil und kessel etc. But above it all, it is always Hashem who is the Ba'al Milchomos; see "Edom and Germany", Yair Davidiy 2015.
Many consider it a pity that Germany did not get to experience at least one Atomic bomb in part payment for its terrible crimes. British Bomber Command were the only ones to extract some form of worthwhile nekomoh with their 1000 bomber firestorm raids (appropriately named Operation Gemorrah), which reduced "the House of Eisav to stubble" (Ovadiah 1): "The Germans have sown the wind; now they are going to reap the whirlwind" was the motto of Air Marshal Arthur `Bomber' Harris, paraphrasing Hoshea 8. Anarchistic leftists and liberals today want the men who carried out the `mitzva' of bombing Germany to be tried as war criminals: Hoi ha'omrim l'ra tov vl'tov ra!
Hitler, from being an unknown wallpaper hanger, was yet another example of kol hameitzar Yisroel na'aseh rosh. His niagra of speech possessed mesmeric powers of syntax, cadence and modulation (his unusual voice was the result of being gassed in 1918). His miraculous escape uninjured from the July 1944 bomb plot did not humble him in the slightest. His astrologers told him that there would be a dramatic change in German fortune in April 1945, and on April 12 news came in of the death of President Roosevelt: "We felt the wings of the Angel of History flap through the Fuhrerbunker" (Goebbels). Yet a fortnight later Hitler himself was gone. His death by his own hand had been foretold by R.Elchonon Wasserman whilst in London in 1939, from Daniel 8. The palpable audible evil of Hitler's last recording of his political testament showed that he regretted nothing: reshoim afilu al pischo shel gehinom ainom chozrin bitshuvoh. In May 1945, as Winston Churchill gleefully picked his way through the rubble of the Berlin Reichstag, he exulted: "With the help of Almighty G-d, I have tracked the Nazi blood-beast back to his lair!".
"The souls of the wicked are the demons of this world" (Zohar III:70). Anyone in the physical presence of Hitler or Goebbels reported feeling totally emotionally drained to the point of physical collapse, as if they were 'psychic vampires': "Do not gaze into the face of a rosho" (Megillah 28). "Hitler has deprived men of all sense of time" (Belzer Rebbe). "A man's name indicates his nature and destiny - a name carries influence" (Yalkut), k'shmo kein hu: Hitler, Goebbels, Streicher, Himmler, Goering, Hess, Von Manstein, Von Manteuffel, Mengele, Todt, Focke, Axmann, Bormann, Eichmann, Kesselring, Rommel etc (Shem v'Neshomoh, R.M.Glazerson 1988).
Hitler had the audacity to invoke the Herr G-tt to assist him in his dastardly plans - "Thus did I now know that I must act in the sense of the Creator: by defending myself against the Jews I am doing the L-rd's work!" (Mein Kampf ch.2) - "der kampf gegen den Ewigen Juden mit aller energie hat begonnen!". "The praises of Hashem rising from those in Gehinnom surpass the praises of those basking in Gan Eden!" (Midrash Shocher Tov 4). "Because men forgot the existence of Gehinnom, the Creator brought Gehinnom into this world" (R.Yerucham Levovitz).
Up to 100 million people died in the last century in two world wars started by Germany: "The Germans started WW1, the Germans started WW2. Mark my words: the Germans will start WW3!" (British astronomer Sir Patrick Moore). Indeed German may yet have a role to play in our history, as they are depicted as being confederates in the final assault of Gog and Magog: "Gomer and all her batallions" (Yechezkel 38:6) - "Gomer is Gemania" (Yoma 10). "I believe the Germans are descendants of Amolek" (Gerer Rebbe).
In the Jewish Apocalyptic literature (eg.Sefer Zerubavel, Sefer Chanoch, Nistaros R.Shimon b.Yochai, Milchamos Melech Hamoshiach etc.) many possible scenarios are described, in most of which the Ishmaelitic and Edomitic nations are the leading protagonists, led by a world dictator worse even than Hitler: the Anti-Moshiach Armilus. Amongst them: "All the inhabitants of the earth will be moved against each other; men will provoke each other to fight without reason, friends will suddenly attack one another as enemies....children and babes will be abandoned without any qualm of conscience....earthquakes, fire will burst from the earth. Women will give birth to talking, dancing infants. Portents in the heavens will remind men that the End is near....the sun and moon will alter their courses, the order of the seasons will change....the fruit of the earth will cease to grow.....sown fields will suddenly appear unsown etc.etc." - V'hoyissoh meshugeh mimarei einecho.
May Hashem grant a Geulah that voids the necessity for such chevalim!
