Article Concerning the Ten Tribes Today by Alexander Zephyr.
The great Rabbi Eliezer ben Hyrcanus said: “Just like a day is followed by darkness, and the light later returns, so too, although it will become ‘dark’ for the Ten Tribes, God will ultimately take them out of their darkness” (Talmud, Sanhedrin 110b).
Many sages such as R. Shimon ben Yochai, R. Judah, and later on R. Judah the Prince, supported position of R. Eliezer that the Ten Tribes of Israel will eventually repent and return to the God of their fathers and to the Promised Land.
The Mishnah, Tractate Sanhedrin 11:1 says: “All Israelites have a share in the World-to-Come, as it is says, ‘your people also shall be all righteous, they shall inherit the Land for ever; the branch of My planting, the work of My hands, that I may be glorified’”(Isaiah 60:21).
Even after Israel went to Assyrian captivity, God reaffirmed that “Mine eyes are upon all their ways; they are not hid from My face” (Jeremiah 16:17).
“In every place where Israel was exiled the Shekhina (Divine Presence) was exiled with them” (Talmud, Megillah 29a; TJ, Ta'an. 1:1, 64a)
It is concerning Israel, the Ten Tribes in Exile, of whom the Almighty speaks: “I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles” (Isaiah 42:6).
That is how the founder of Brit-Am and author of many books on the subject of the Ten Tribes, Yair Davidiy, described the situation:
“Both sections of the Hebrew Nation had therefore been exiled by HaShem. Each had a separate task of its own to fulfill. Judah need to keep the Torah, gather in converts, and cultural influences (holy sparks) and develop Judaism. On the other hand, the Ten Tribes headed by Joseph needed to go down to the level of the heathen and then evolve upwards, become great nations, and drag the rest of humanity up with them. The fundamental aims of these tasks may well have by now been carried out. At present we need to prepare ourselves for a coming Redemption and Reunification.”
Israel will not be forgotten nor rejected by God: “You are My servant. I have chosen you, and will not cast you away” (Isaiah 41:9). In order for these prophecies to be fulfilled, the Ten Tribe of Israel will need to have woken up to their Israelite roots, repented, reunited with Judah, turned to God of Israel and His Immortal Torah and settle in the Promised Land. All of this will be accomplished in due time, in the ‘days of Mashiah.’
After reading such strong assurances of Almighty, one never can accept negative statements of the skeptics on the subject of the Ten Tribes of Israel. In light of all of this, we would like to say to all those who confuse (whether by lack of knowledge or ignorance) the Israelite peoples, as something other than the Ten Tribes, together with the Jewish people: Be careful! Do not make this grave mistake. Listen to what God has said on this matter. Learn history and rethink your position.
This problem is not new. At the time of the prophet Ezekiel (592BCE) the Jews of Jerusalem turned away from the Ten Tribes of Israel in exile and spoke against their coming back to the land of their fathers. Listen how God rebuked them:
“Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the Lord; unto us is this land given in possession. Therefore say, thus saith the Lord God; although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come” (Ezekiel 11:15-16).
The Ten Tribes of Israel will come to the Promised Land from the all corners of the World: “Behold, they will come from afar; some from the north, some from the west, and some from the land of Sinim” (Isaiah 49:12).
The Twelve Tribes of Israel, the whole House of Jacob, will become again one nation and there will be one King, the Messiah son of David. They will be no more divided into two nations. Together they will become one nation of Priests, a Light to the World. Together they will merit life in the Messianic Kingdom and in the wonderful, everlasting Heavenly World-to-Come, the ultimate destination for spiritually regenerated Humanity.
