To answer this question properly we should really study a few cases and see what the perceived effects were.
Meanwhile off the top of my head:
The expulsion from England in 1290 was due to fears of Jews spreading heresy and the Jewish practice of usury and economic motivations. The Pope had also put pressure on to get the Jews out. They feared the English would be adversely influenced by Jewish ideas. Heresy came anyway shortly afterwards.
Money lending was a necessity but since no Jews were around they brought in Italian Gentile usurers who were much worse than the Jews ever had been.
Things got worse and not better.
Henry viii is really to be credited with re-admittance of the Jews to England. Cromwell later helped matters along.
From those times onward the curse was lifted and England began to become great again.
Jews were expelled from France several times. The results were always negative and a need would be felt shortly afterwards to bring them back.
Jews were expelled from Spain in 1492. The great rabbinical scholar and Biblical Commentator, Don Yitschak Abarbanel, was among the expellees. He cursed Spain.
He said that Spain had been on its way to lead the world. Now it would go down.
Spain went on for a while to superficially reach greater heights but the rot had sent in.
From the leading nation of Europe and of European stock Spain became the equivalent of a third world nation in which no man trusted his neighbor.
It has never emerged from the darkness it imposed on itself.
The same with Portugal.
Germany expelled the Jews, lost the War, lost its demographic replacement levels, lost its intellectual lead, tried to take over Europe by the back door, helped Israel while stabbing her in the back, and so on. Germany compared to what it could have been, and maybe was headed to be, has gone down, down, down.
Germany may still come up again but only to go down still further.
Time will tell.
