There are no Khazar Jews! There is no Jewish group that ascribes its origin to the Khazars. Concerning the possibility that some Jews may be descended from Khazars no-one really relates to it. Most Jewish communities have Cohens, Levis, and Beni Israel i.e. ordinary Israelites. Some families have traditions that they descended from King David, or from famous Jewish sages, or from great rabbis, etc. When you put it all together there is not that much space left over to squeeze the Khazars into it. There are no family names, no customs, no traditions, no words, etc, that may definitely be ascribed to the Khazars. I personally believe the Khazars once existed. [I even wrote a book about it, that sold out, and now needs to be re-printed.] I understand that some Jews may be descended from Khazars and that the Khazars were actually descended from Israelites. Nevertheless most Jews are not that interested in the subject and are skeptical about its significance. If Yehudah Ha-Levi (d. ca. 1041 CE) had not written an important philosophical and polemical work using the story of the Khazars as a framework many Jews would probably dismiss the account altogether.
