Where did the Polynesian people originate from?
Usually the so-called Polynesian people are divided into three sub-groups:
1. A fair sometimes red-haired group occasionally with grey to green eyes that may have come from Peru (the Inca rulers) and before that from Phoenicia. These were usually the royal families. Thor Heyerdahl wrote about this group and the Kon Tikhi expedition was intended to prove the feasibility of explanations concerning its movements. The Maori of New Zealand are also Polynesian and some of them had green eyes and reddish hair before the white men arrived.
2. The Polynesians proper who have been traced to the non-Chinese natives of Taiwan and are related to a portion of the Japanese.
3. Melanesians who attached themselves to the Polynesians in their peregrinations or later.
