Editorial Note from Brit-Am:
The article below does not reflect our understanding of this subject. It does however present a valid alternative that is more compatible with conventional doctrine than our own explanations.
The only way we can get to the truth is by considering all rational possibilities.
===============================
Shalom Yair,
I feel that there were some misrepresentations in your article, Brit-Am Versus DNA, concerning DNA.
First of all, environment does affect DNA, this is correct. But weather, biotope, or biotype of land does NOT change haplogroups from A to Z in a whim!
Using blanket statements like "environment changes DNA" gives people a false picture.
Everybody can understand that if you don't feed a child properly, he won't grow up properly. Feed a son of spartan warrior only weak, watered-down food all his youth, and he will not grow to be a strong and bold spartan warrior, this is simple, easy to understand.
So in this way, environment of course alters genetic behavior. Also there is epigenetics (https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epigenetics).
All these do change genetic makeup, genetic expression and phenotypes which can affect many things. But they do not change haplogroups. Haplogroups might mutate, sometimes slowly, sometimes very fast as in case of population bottlenecks. But they are not irrational. They don't jump from A to Z to R1b to I1 to G in a whim. This just doesn't happen and to hint at such is a huge misrepresentation!

my personal take:
I myself firmly hold the view that haplogroup I is a semitic marker. We know this because there is living people with haplogroup IJ that is father branch to both I and J. Haplogroup J is the cohenite haplogroup but also haplogroup from example Saudi Arabian royal house.
We know that some branches of I1 dates back only approximately 2500-3000 years according to STR-values. This takes us right into the time of Assyrian exile which very probably introduced several severe population bottlenecks and made I1 branch stem away from "cradle" group IJ.
Going deeper into genetic history, you can see that all the countries you list as countries for Ten Lost Tribes, they all have huge chunks of hg. I1 in them, from Scandinavian countries to Switzerland, Ireland and USA, Britain and Australia.
But the majority in these countries is R1b. But if you take away I1 from these countries, they become NOT candidates for Ten Lost Tribes anymore, for example Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, several other countries that have ONLY R1 only in them (maybe some J, some E, G). The single thing that is shared by ALL historical tribes that you deal with in your studies, from Anglo Saxon to Scots to Finns to South Africans, is that they all stem from the same I1 haplogroup.
This is extremely well documented, indeed all the subjects in your studies share the same origin, I1 branch that arrived in NORTH from the upper part of Assyrian empire and settled in the isles of Denmark and Britain and spread to Scandinavian countries. This is EASILY SEEN FROM NEW GENETIC STUDIES!
But in all these countries, I1 is never a majority, R1b is always the majority. Japheth will become numerous and will dwell in tents of Shem, this prophecy is crystal clear from perspective of haplogroups.
Also going through for example, christian movements, from Martin Luther to Baptists to Swedenborgianism, they are mainly led by people haplogroup I people.
Descendants of Shem are the religious leaders of this world: from the journeys of descendants of haplogroup IJ, we can deduce almost every major religion in the world.
If you go through the most rich prosperous nations, from Saudi Arabia to Norway to Usa, they all have either I or J haplogroup in them. Again, as prophecy says, Shem was to be made rich.
You Yair are doing something very important, this is the reason why I feel the need to "attack" you right away in this case. It is important that this area of knowledge is represented CORRECTLY and with ENOUGH information instead of too little of information as is the case now. I might be proven wrong and I can accept that. But right now, there are several very strong proofs to make case for IJ being the haplogroup of Shem.
There are several worthwhile blogs that deal mainly with genetic population history. One such blog, Eurogenes.blogspot.com has several articles that directly concern biblical times. Forums like Anthrogenica, Forumbiodiversity and Eupedia are also full of information that is up to date and easy to digest.
As always, thank you for all the work you do and blessings,
Mikko
