Esau & the descendants of Rachel
R. Samuel bar Nahmani said: We have a traditional Aggadah that Esau will fall only at the hands of the descendants of Rachel. Why so? Because if the other tribes should come to judgement with Esau and ask him, "Why did you persecute your brother?" he could respond with, "Why did you persecute Joseph, your own brother? You are no better than I." But should Esau turn for help to Joseph, Joseph too, would ask him, "Why did you persecute your brother? Should you say, 'Because he did evil unto me,' my brothers also requited me with with evil, yet I requited them with good." Then Esau will have to remain silent. 5. Does Science Now Acknowledge the Possibility of Brit-Am Historical Correctness?
The Lost Ten Tribes were exiled in according to conventional dating in ca 730-720 that is close enough to 3000 years ago. Aft first many of them were taken to the regions of Assyria, i.e. to Mesopotamia.
The URL below discussed the possibility from a scientific point of view that 10 per cent of modern-day Europeans are "safe from HIV" (?)

because one of their ancestors while living in Mesopotamia
"beside the Tigris 3,000 years ago" acquired a genetic mutation that he passed on to his descendants now living in Western Europe.

The Lost Tribes were exiled to regions in the Assyrian Empire including the Cities of the Medes (2-Kings 17:6).
[2-Kings 17:6] IN THE NINTH YEAR OF HOSHEA THE KING OF ASSYRIA TOOK SAMARIA, AND CARRIED ISRAEL AWAY INTO ASSYRIA, AND PLACED THEM IN HALAH AND IN HABOR BY THE RIVER OF GOZAN, AND IN THE CITIES OF THE MEDES....;
The book is "The Archaeology of Weapons", 1960, by R. Ewart Oakeshott .....
"The legendary home of iron is in north-east Asia Minor, in ancient Paphlagonia and Pontus, where the Chalybes (mentioned by Aeshylus in the sixth century B.C.) seem to have had a sort of monopoly, while to the south was Commagene, Ubi ferrum nascitur [where iron originated?].
"In the north-east of this area, as well as to the north of the Caucasus, cemeteries have been found which have yielded weapons and other iron objects closely allied to the Hallstatt products; also, and perhaps more significantly, types of bronze horse-bit and bridle mounts have been found in many graves in Hungary and Austria which are closely related in form and type to types found across the Pontic steppes, beyond the Caucasus and even farther off in Iran. The finding of these objects in graves of the early Hallstatt period (c. 1000-800 B.C.) which are clearly those of horse-using warriors suggests that they brought a sort of military stimulus with better weapons of iron and improved horse management; they may even have been veteran mercenaries from the armies of Assyria and Urartu. We shall examine presently some pretty convincing evidence that this was indeed the case
"Herodotus (writing in about 400 B.C.) tells of a people dwelling beyond the Danube and to the north of Thrace called Sigynnae. These may perhaps be identified with a people of the Caucasus region called the Siggini mentioned by Strabo, who was writing of a period around 100 B.C., and maybe with the later Sequani of Gaul (Caesar, 58 B.C.) who eventually reached the region of Paris. Both Sigynnae and Siggini are said to have worn Medean costume, trousers; which were of course the usual wear of the Celts. What Herodotus has to say of them is illuminating in the added light recent archaeological discoveries.
He says:
'...It appears that you no sooner cross the Ister [Danube] than you enter an interminable wilderness. The only people of whom I hear as dwelling beyond the Ister are a race named Sigynnae, who wear, they say, a dress like the Medes, and have horses which are covered with a coat of shaggy hair, five fingers in length. They are a small breed, flat nosed, and are not strong enough to bear men on their backs; but when yoked to chariots are the swiftest known, which is the reason why the people of that country use chariots. Their borders reach down almost to the Eneti on the Adriatic sea, and they call themselves colonists of the Medes; but how they can be colonists of the Medes I for my part cannot imagine. Still, nothing is impossible in the long lapse of the ages.'
Nothing indeed. During the last century the remains of chariots and the bones and trappings of small horses have been found in the graves of the Hallstatt warriors; the trousered costume of the Celts is well known from the Gaulish and Italian sculptures of the Roman period, while Roman writers often speak as eye-witnesses of the swift, shaggy little horses and the trousered charioteers. We may even believe what Herodotus found it hard to imagine; as we have seen, objects of the same culture and the same form have been found in regions very close to the Medean territories (and even within them) as well as in Austria. This at least suggests a cultural connection between the Hallstatt people (the ancestors of the Sigynnae) and the Medes. There is an even closer link with Assyria. In Celtic burials widely scattered in Western Europe-at Avranches, in the Loire valley, near Abbeville, in Baden and the Palatinate and Moravia-have been found ingots of iron, small billets of good quality metal in a handy and portable size. Identical ones have been found at Khorsabad, near Nineveh. Nor is this all, for a distinctive style of sword and scabbard mount is found both in the West and in Assyria."
"He also mentions the similarity in the helmet styles of the Assyrians and Celts, that they both have a similar pointed apex, and that no other culture has helmets of this type; thus he sees a connection between the two.

4. Archaeology: Assyrian Inscription of Exile from Samaria, "the remainder of the people he settled in Assyria".Â
"Brit-Am Now"-534
3. The Completeness of the Assyrian Exile
An Assyrian inscription recalls the taking of Samaria and the exile of its inhabitants. This inscription says that the king of Assyria took to himself more than 27,000 people and the rest he removed to Assyria. The inscription may be understood to mean NOT (as is commonly claimed) that Sargon took only 27,000 plus people from Samaria into captivity BUT rather that Sargon took ca. 27,000 people for his own (military) purposes and the remainder of the people he settled in Assyria.
. Dalley p.35
"I counted as spoil [2)7,280 people..and the rest of them I resettled in Assyria".
On the basis of this inscription it is sometimes claimed (even in Encyclopedias!!) that not many more than 27,000 were ever actually exiled!!! This claim belies the facts: The inscription applies only to remnants of city of Samaria after a siege of several years whereas other Assyrian inscriptions mention the exile of all Israelite inhabitants from other areas of the country. The inscription itself appears most readily understandable as saying that the 27,000 plus were taken by the king for his own personal or military needs and all of the remainder were packed off maybe even without bothering to count them The inscription is also rendered as;
"I took as booty 27,290 people who lived there. I formed a unit of 50 chariotry from them .."
Another version says 200 chariotry instead of 50, and adds, "and I settled the rest in Assyria."
STEPHANIE DALLEY, 'Foreign Chariotry and Cavalry in the armies of Tiglathpileser-iii and Sargon-ii', Iraq, vol.xlvii, 1985, London, p.36 renders the Nimrud prism account of Sargon thusly:
"The Samarians who had [conspired] against the king [my predecessor] not to endure servitude nor to bring tribute, became angry and did battle. With the army of the great gods my lords I fought against them. I counted as spoil [x+]7,280 people including [their] chariotry and the gods their help. I formed a unit of 200 chariots from them as part of my royal army, and I resettled the rest of them in Assyria. I repopulated Samaria more than before, and put into it people from the countries which I had conquered".
Other renditions of this inscription (such as that of H.Tadmor) similarly show that it is possible to read the inscription as saying that Sargon took for his own purposes more than 27,000 captives and the rest of them (i.e. all those that remained apart from the 27,000) he transported to Assyria. Sargon (722-705) mentions above his taking 50 (or 200 in another version) charioteers from Samaria.

5. Purim Memories: Nazi officer Hamman in Lithuania

5. Purim and Haman
In Jerusalem over the next three days we will celebrating in different ways the Feast of Purim.
As we pointed out in our Biblical Studies this feast has significance in light of the role of Saul, King Agag of the Amalekites, and the descendants of Saul, Mordecai and Esther and the descendant of Agag, Haman.
I stated that "Kish" was another name for Saul whereas in fact Kish was his father (1-Samuel 9:1). Further clarification later.
Haman in the Book of Esther is the descendant of Agag who attempts to exterminate the Jewish people.
It may be a coincidence but the family name "Hamman" was that of an SS officer in charge of exterminating the Jews of Lithuania.
A Nazi document says:
"The goal of clearing Lithuania of Jews could be achieved only through the establishment of a specially selected Mobile Commando under the command of SS Obersturmfuhrer Hamman, who adopted my aims [of complete elimination] fully and was able to ensure the co-operation of the Lithuanian partisans and civil authorities concerned" "Robert S. Wistrich, "Hitler and the Holocaust. How and Why the Holocaust Happened" (2001) p.100.

1. Irish Israelite Traditions
"It is stated in very old copies of The Book of Invasions and other ancient documents that it was the Mosaic law that the Milesians brought into Errin at their coming; that it had been learned and received from Moses in Egypt by Cae Cain Beathach, who was himself an Israelite, who had been sent into Egypt to learn the language of that country by the great master Fenius Farsaith, from whom the Milesian brothers, who conquered Errin, are recorded to have been the twenty second generation in descent; and it is stated in the preface to Seanchas Mord [i.e. "The Great Tradition", the central compilation of the ancient Irish Law] that this was the law of Errin at the time of the coming of St.Patrick".

8. Jack Flaws: The 7 times punishment period

5. Jack Flaws: The 7 times punishment period
Hey, Yair. I have a rather simple answer to the "mystery." The 7 times punishment period prophesied for both houses.
Ephraim, et al, didn't receive the birthright while in geographical Israel. Those promises given to Abraham and repeated to Isaac and Jacob were not fulfilled until Britain became an empire and the US became a "great" nation. This all began around 1800. This was in accordance with the 2520 year, 7 times period which started with the "official" fall of Ephriam in 721 BC. This 7 times period can be seen for other tribes as well. I remember Judah's history containing more than one starting date for that time period. I remember Jerusalem being liberated by Gen. Allenby, 2520 years after the fall of the House of Judah to Babylon. It's very recognizable when subtracting 2520 from 1917, and adjusting for crossing the BC_CE line. Menasseh was one of the first tribes to fall to the Assyrians, around 744-5BC, which coincides with the American revolution 2520 years later in 1776.
And maybe you noticed that this "proof" can be applied to distinguishing who is and isn't Ephraim and Menasseh. Britain was a nation many centuries before their 2520 punishment period was finished, but they didn't become a "multitude of nations" till 1800.
This also goes for the promise of "gates of your enemies." Ephraim would be the leader in possessing those gates, not Menasseh. As I remember it, only one "gate" was possessed by the US. That was the Panama canal, while Britain had Gibralter, Suez, Cape Hope, the Faulklins, Hong Kong, etc.

1. Brent Michael Keith: More on Asher and Scotsmen
From: "Keith, Brent"
Yair,
I was intrigued by a recent e-mail. It is regarding oil exploration in those territories designated by the Almighty to the Tribe of Asher. What is interesting, apart from the very truth I believe is in scripture, is that wherever the Tribe of Asher is found, so is oil! As you ascribe Asher to be settled in Scotland, the most obvious oil reserves lie in the east Scotland basins and North Sea Brent. What is interesting is regarding oil production here in the United States. The first big strike was Pennsylvania which was the original home of the Scotch-Irish (Asher) before they moved southward into Kentucky and southern Appalachia. The strike in Titusville was at the foot so to speak in NW Pennsylvania. You then see finds in eastern Kentucky at the Ross Creek Pool, again, eastern Kentucky be an area predominantly populated by Scotch-Irish descendants.
The most interesting, I believe, is the Texas-Oil-Scottish (Asher) connection, see the following facts:
Over 40% of the original "300" Steven F. Austin colonists were of Scottish ancestry.
There were 30 Scots among those who fought in the Battle of the Alamo. Piper John MacGregor stood on the adobe walls in the midst of the battle to pipe the men on in true Scottish tradition.
Aberdeen Angus cattle were first exported from Scotland into Texas in 1883. The ranching term "spread" comes from Gaelic "spreid" which is a flock of sheep and "spredith" which means cattle or livestock of any kind.
Ten men from Scotland financed the building of the state capitol in Austin.
In exchange, the state government gave them 150,000 acres which became the famous XIT Ranch. The XIT stands for "Ten in Texas".
Most of the leaders who battled for Texas' independence were of Scottish ancestry, i.e., Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, James Bowie, David Crockett, Peter J. Bailey, Henry P. Brewster, J.A. Brooks, David Burnet, Mathew Caldwell, Capt. Ewen Cameron, S.P. Carson, Robert Cochran.
Over half of the counties of Texas are named for persons of Scottish ancestry.
*The Texas facts were taken from Texas Scottish Historical Web site at
http://www.txscot.com/texas_history.htm
This is a separate note, I am a coin collector and I came across a US Type One 3 cent silver piece. They were designed by James Barton Longacre and were minted from 1851-1853. They contain an "American" shield encompassed by the Star of David. Just a note but it is interesting, I believe, how history/secular things speak to us regarding our identity.
May the Almighty bless all that you put your hand to.

Shalom Yair,
I am familiar with the custom of tying shoes to a car's back bumper when it transported a newlywed couple. It was still practiced and was even illustrated in books here in America when I was growing up. Lately, I have not seen evidence of the practice. Perhaps that practice was brought to America by the Scots and northern English you mention in your posting.

3. Sephardic Jewish Blood in Western Peoples
A certain article (DNA and the Sephardic Diaspora:Spanish and Portuguese Jews in Europe By Abraham D. Lavender Ph.D. from HaLapid Winter, 2003 http://www.cryptojews.com/dna_and_the_sephardic_diaspora.htm
Taking 9 Genetic characteristics (DNA markers) that when found together form a "haplotype", we find a certain "haplotype" amongst a certain percentage of Sephardic Jews and consider this "haplotype" to be typically "Sephardic" Jewish. The "haplotype" in question concerns male ancestry; different criteria are used for females. The article discusses DNA evidence indicating a Sephardic Jewish presence amongst the Gentile inhabitants of places in Western Europe: Since specific "markers" are used THE ACTUAL HISTORICAL FIGURES COULD WELL BE MUCH HIGHER. The study ONLY concentrates on one haplotype and this is the largest haplotype known in Western Europe. Other haplotypes almost certainly existed amongst Sepharadic Jews so the total figures in reality should be higher.
The article said: "The percentages for other European areas are: 4.80 for Belgium and 4.48 for southern Netherlands (Holland and Zeeland) ... 2.18 for the northern Netherlands (Friesland and Groningen) where smaller Sephardic communities existed; 0.87 for Hamburg (where a Sephardic community was begun, but later lost numbers to Copenhagen), 2.41 for five sites in western Germany (Dusseldorf, Cologne, Limburg, Mainz, Freiburg) on or very close to the Rhine River whose mouth is in the Netherlands, 6.06 for Strasbourg.....1.45 for seven sites elsewhere in Germany (Munster, Magdeburg, Rostock, Berlin, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Munich), 1.35 for Rome, 1.22 for four sites in northern Italy, and 0.27 for five other sites in Italy. London, England and Dublin, Ireland, both of which had Sephardic communities, had respectively 2.83 and 1.87." "There was a 6.35% match (to be interpreted cautiously because of a small sample size) for Copenhagen, Denmark, which had a Sephardic community, but for Scandinavian countries without Sephardic communities, there was 0.67% for Norway and 0.57% for Sweden. Finland was 0%. The percentage was 0.62 for eight sites in Poland, and 0.16 for four sites in Eastern Europe (Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Moscow). Budapest, Hungary, earlier part of the Ottoman Empire with a Sephardic community, had 1.71, Croatia, with a Sephardic community, had 2.00, and Krakow, Poland, also with a Sephardic community, had 0.93.Â
