1. The Eagle and 13 Arrows.
On the Great Seal of the USA is depicted an eagle bearing in its right claw a thirteen-leaved, thirteen-berried branch; in its left claw it has thirteen arrows. Jacob said , "The archers have surely grieved him and shot at him... But his bow abode in strength" (Genesis 49:23). In the Last Days Ephraim will be the arrow in the bow fired by Judah against the sons of Javan (Zechariah 9:13). On the American coat of arms can be seen over the head of the eagle thirteen stars in a circle:- Joseph dreamt of stars representing his eleven brothers and the sun and moon bowing down to him (Genesis 37:9) i.e. thirteen heavenly bodies. On the chest of the eagle is a shield whose upper half has thirteen bars. The number thirteen represents the original thirteen states of the USA but there are thirteen Tribes of Israel as enumerated in Ezekiel chapter 48 and as explained in Ezekiel 48:13, "JOSEPH SHALL HAVE TWO PORTIONS."
The obverse side of the American Seal pictures a Pyramid with an EYE above it.

2. Influence of Freemasonry?
There are those who attribute the imagery found in the US Great Seal to the influence of Freemasonry. The early adherents of Freemasonry in the 1700s were middle-class intellectuals steeped in the same ideas and interests as the Founding Fathers of the USA. They could quite easily have both identified with the same principles and symbolism without necessarily having belonged to the same clubs. Whatever the prosaic explanations for the symbols used Divine Providence also played a role. In fact the symbols prove it.

3. The All-Seeing Eye.
According to the Midrash (Numbers Rabah. 2;5) the symbol of Joseph was a picture representing Egypt. The Great Seal of America (shown on every Dollar bill) has a pyramid. Egypt universally can be recognized only by the picture of a sphinx or one of a pyramid. Above the pyramid is depicted an eye.
Jacob said that Joseph "is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a well; whose BRANCHES run over the wall" (Genesis 49:22).
"A FRUITFUL BOUGH": In Hebrew "Ben Porat" which can also mean "A Powerfully Fertile Son" or "A Son of Power." In the Hebrew Bible when several meanings are possible it is often deliberate and ALL the different meanings are intended.
"BY A WELL: In Hebrew: "ali ayin" which can also mean The eye (ayin) above (ali), i.e. The Eye of Providence.
Here is a literal translation of the Biblical Text as it may well have been intended:
Genesis 49:
22 A powerful son is Joseph, a fertile son, under the Eye [of Divine Providence] ; the daughters stepped forward for the sake of [Joseph] the Bull.
23 And there were those who were embittered against him, and quarrelled, and they hated him. They were masters of missiles.
24 And he took ease in the strength of his bow. The seed of his arms spread outwards. This was from the hand of the Great Bull of Jacob [i.e. the ALMIGHTY]. From there comes the Shepherd who does equitable justice in Israel.
25 [This was] From the God of your father; and HE will help you. For [HE IS] the Almighty. And HE will bless you. Blessings of the Heavens above; blessings of the Chasm lying underneath. Blessings of breasts and womb.
26 The blessing of your father have exceeded the blessings of my forebears. They reach the boundaries of the hills of this world. Be you at the head, Joseph. And the Supreme Commander, the Crown [Nazir] of his brothers [yet separate from them].
cf.
Deuteronomy (NKJV) 33:
26 There is no one like the God of Jeshurun,
Who rides the heavens to help you,
And in His excellency on the clouds.
27 The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;
He will thrust out the enemy from before you,
And will say, 'Destroy!'
28 Then Israel shall dwell in safety,
The Fountain of Jacob alone,
In a land of grain and new wine;
His heavens shall also drop dew.
29 Happy are you, O Israel!
Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD,
The shield of your help
And the sword of your majesty!
Your enemies shall submit to you,
And you shall tread down their high places.
The nations we have identified as containing significant numbers of Israelites all dwell in areas that have beneficial climates, envigorating environments, and fertile soils.
THE FOUNTAIN OF JACOB: In Hebrew "Ayin Yaacob" which can also mean "the Eye of Jacob" referring to the All-Seeing Eye of Providence depicted on the US Great Seal.

4. The Number 13: Ephraim and Manasseh.
Ephraim and Manasseh were the sons of Joseph. Each one was to be considered as separate Tribe in its own right.
Genesis (NASB) 48:
5 Now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you in Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh shall be mine, as Reuben and Simeon are.
This means that there were actually 13 Tribes but a quorum of 12 is maintained by either counting Ephraim and Manasseh as the one Tribe of Joseph; or by not counting Levi (who did not receive his own territory but was scattered among the other Tribes), or some other stratagem.

5. G. ASHLEY, "The USA and Number Thirteen," Extracts from Messages to Brit-Am.
Since there are thirteen tribes in Israel, and since Ephraim and Manasseh were adopted after all the rest were born, and Ephraim is interchangeable with Joseph there is no other option for Manasseh, numerically speaking, but that he be number thirteen. Now, it is a significant fact,
that when Manasseh separated from Ephraim [in the American Revolution]; -- When the people in America who had become a great nation separated from those (Britain) who were already a company of nations, because their branches continued to run over the wall -- he, Manasseh, i.e. America, had just thirteen states, and ever since thirteen is the prominent number in all the emblems and heraldry of the land.
Also over the pyramid on the reverse side of the Great Seal of America is another thirteen-lettered motto, which, of course is not only lawful, but also national; i.e., "Annuit Coeptis," -- "He [the LORD] hath prospered our undertakings." This also is Josephic, for we read, "The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man" (Genesis 39:2).
"He also shall become a People, and he also shall be Great" (Genesis 48:19).
The first national flag of those original United States had thirteen Stars and thirteen Bars. The bars symbolize the Union, and the constellation
of thirteen stars was intended to symbolize the nation formed of thirteen independent states.
In this, the Great Seal of our country ...we have the arms and crest of the United States of America. The eagle is holding in what is called the "Dexter" talon an Olive Branch. In the fourteenth chapter of Hosea, that prophet, who has so much to say about lost Ephraim-Israel, we have the following:
"O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; I will heal their backslidings; I will love them freely;
for mine anger is turned away from him . . . I will be as the dew to Israel; he shall grow like the lily [the national flower of Egypt], and cast forth his roots as Lebanon [royal cedar]. His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the OLIVE tree. Ephraim will say, What have I to do any more with idols?" (Hosea 14:1, 4-6, 8).

6. The Sphinx, Symbol of Britain?
The obverse side of the American Seal pictures the Great Pyramid.
It has been claimed that the obverse side of the Royal Seal of Britain shows the Sphinx of Egypt.

7. The Dollar Bill Sign and the Straits of Gibraltar-Tarshish.
Gunnar Jeremia GISHRON pointed out that the original Dollar sign was derived from a representation of the Straits of Gibraltar.
A coin issued by a Swedish monarch included the name of God in Hebrew and the motto in Swedish 'In God WE Trust'! Later the Spanish adapted this coin and the USA took it from the Spanish. The Spanish version bore the Heraldric sign of the Spanish Royal family. This represented the two pillars of Hercules at Gibraltar. These pillars gave rise to the dollar '$' symbol (with two strokes not one)! The ancient northern Israelites wrote Hebrew interspersed on occasion with Egyptian-like hieroglyphics. Where we to use the hieroglyphic system today instead of writing 'AMERICA' or the USA all the time we would substitute '$' as a hieroglyph representing the USA. This one sign ($) in the context could only stand for the USA. This is the sign of Gibraltar, i.e. the sign of Tarshish.
In ancient times the city-state of Tarshish was just to the east of Gibraltar facing the Atlantic Ocean. Tarshish was a trading empire linked with King Solomon and other Israelite monarchs. It had outposts in Gaul and Britain and according to one authority once controlled most of Spain and Gaul. Tarshish in Rabbinical terminology came to represent the whole Atlantic area beyond the Mediterranean and this usage was foreshadowed by the Biblical one. In Isaiah 60:9 it says that the ships of Tarshish are destined to bring the Lost Israelites back to the land of Israel. These are ships plying the Atlantic Ocean such as those of the Netherlands, Britain and America.
The Northern Hebrews used to insert hieroglyphic I(Egyptian-type) signs in the midst of their Hebrew sentences. The principle of these signs is that as a kind of shorthand one can employ a picture-emblem instead of a word. Were we to employ this method today we could use the dollar sign to represent the USA. This sign already represents American money but it could also be used to represent America in general and we would know what the intention was from the context in which it was employed. By the same method the sign could also represent Tarshish since it is derived from an image of the Straits of Gibraltar.
Gunnar also says that the first dollar (made by the King of Sweden) had the name of God in Hebrew inscribed upon it and the slogan 'In God We Trust.' It would be interesting to learn if this slogan was later printed on the American dollar bill with the knowledge that it had been on the original Swedish dollar coin or this is another of those historical 'coincidences' we have learned to almost take for granted!
In Scripture and Talmudic sources TARSHISH is often linked with the "Isles of the Sea" (meaning Britain) and with the "Yam Okyanus" (i.e. Oceanic Sea) meaning the Atlantic Ocean.
In some Talmudic accounts Tarshish is taken to refer to the Sea encompassing one third of the world. The Aramaic translation of Yehonathan translates "Tarshish" as "Sea." Rashi (the major Talmudic Commentator) says that (the sea) Tarshish is called the Sea of Africa presumably meaning the Atlantic. In one of the Psalms, it says "The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents" (Psalm 72;10): The Aramaic Targum translates this expression to say, "The Kings of Tarsis and of the Isles in the Oceanic Sea shall bring offerings" and by Oceanic Sea (i.e."Yam Okyanus") it is generally understood that the Atlantic Ocean is intended.
"Tarshish" is referred to in connection with the Messianic era and with the return of the exiled Tribes of Israel:
"Who are these that fly as a cloud and as a dove to their windows? Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from afar, their silver and gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God to the Holy One of Israel because he hath glorified thee" (Isaiah 60:8-9).
