(a) Amalek not the Most Populous Nation
Hello Yair,

#2. Cristian Sildan: Remarks About Edom and the End Times
First, I would like to comment on the letters posted by your reader
Christian Sildan in Brit-Am # 2362 and # 2424
"My gut feeling is that most of the world population today is Semitic
on the paternal side", stated Sildan. He connects this conclusion on
Numbers 24:20, where a non-Israelite prophet Balaam, son of Beor, thus
prophesied: "Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end
shall be that he perishes foreve".
Didn't Balaam say that Amalek would be the biggest people on Earth, he asked rhetorically?
No, Mr. Sildan, Balaam did not mean that Amalek will be the most multitudinous
leading nation in the world; nor the oldest, strongest or richest, but
'the first nation that will attack Israel' after their exodus from
Egypt (Exodus 17:8) as translated by the Targum and understood by all
commentators of the Bible. Another understanding of Amalek being 'the first nation' in this prophecy is the suggestion that Amalek 'had no
wish to fight against Israel alone but rather with the help of many
nations' (Mekhilta, edited by H.S. Horovitz and L. A. Rabin, 1960).
Amalek was to be first, the chief leader of the coalition, and he
instructed those nations this way: 'Come, do not be afraid. If they
defeat me, you flee, and if not, come and help me against Israel'. I
hope this explanation is satisfactory.
On the question, which population is larger in the world, Semites or
Japhethites, the Bible answers in the benefits of the latter one, 'God
shall enlarge Japheth' (Genesis 9:27).

#3. E. A. Bradbrooke: The Horites are the Japanese, not the Edomites
Secondly, let me also comment on the letter of E.A. Bradbrooke posted
on Brit-Am Now no. 2363 and no. 2424
# The Sea of Chinnereth, per Joshua 13:27, ties in.
Being eastward BEYOND the river Jordan, this is the East China Sea #.
This statement is as truthful as his next one, in which he translates
the Sea of Chinnereth "is none other than the East China Sea" (Joshua
13:27). If Mr. Bradbrooke would read the verse in the context, he
would have understood that the text speaks of the will of God to
Joshua to divide the land of Israel among the Tribes; verse 27
particularly speaks of Moses giving inheritance to the children of
Gad. The cities and villages given are well known to the scholars, and
these places have nothing to do with China and the East China Sea.
Thus, the Sea of Chinnereth is nothing else but the lake of Gennesaret
or Sea of Galilee, which continues on the other side of Jordan
eastward; Succoth, i.e., booths, the place Jacob rested after meeting
with Esau (Genesis 33:17); where Gideon "taught the men of Succoth"
(Judges 8:5, 7, 16), and so on. All the names given are represented
the Biblical borders of the land of Israel and nothing else.
In my view, it is of importance to know the proper interpretation of
the Bible verses in order to understand the true meaning of Scripture.

3. Vilna Gaon: All the Nations of the World are Either of Esau or of Ishmael!
Eliyahu of Vilna i.e.
Elijah ben Shlomo Zalman Kremer, known as the Vilna Gaon or Elijah of Vilna, or by his Hebrew acronym HaGra ("HaGaon Rabbenu Eliyahu") (Lithuania, 1720- 1797), was a Talmudist, halakhist, kabbalist, and the foremost leader of mitnagdic (non-hasidic) Jewry of the past few centuries.
Anything he said is considered of importance.
He is reported to have said that the Non-Israelite Nations of the World number 70. Half of them belong to Esau (Edom) and half to Ishmael.
What exactly this means is not clear but it is worth keeping in mind.
