1. David Jackson: Remarks on the Eagle Symbol, the Serpent, and the Tribe of Dan
RE: Brit-Am Now no. 2444. Lost Ten Tribes Studies

#1. The Eagle Symbol Should Belong to Jacob, not Esau!
Response To Eagle Symbol:
I believe Dan is an Eagle per Ezekiel:Â As for the likeness of their faces,
they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side:
and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the
face of an eagle. (Ezekiel 1:10)
In the encampment in the wilderness, Reuben (man), Judah (lion), Ephraim
(ox), and Dan (eagle) were the center four tribes of each side round the
tabernacle. Ezekiel's vision of the four creatures around God's throne is
an analogy to God's spirit resting upon the camp of Israel. There is
nothing in the plain text of the Torah to liken Dan to an eagle. He is
likened to a serpent or sometimes a pair of balances to signify justice, but
the eagle is inferred from here. The Hebrew word used in Ezekiel, nesher,
can also mean a vulture or a griffin, which is a mythological winged lion.
The serpent of Genesis 49:17 may be understood not to be a simple snake, but
this formidable winged lion with its dragon or eagle-like visage.  The word
used in 49:17 is nachash, and is the same word used for the serpent that
tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 3:1 and was possibly a winged
creature of some kind. It was cursed to become a crawling snake but may
have originally flown, thus making its curse all the more exemplary.

Shalom Yair Dividiy
Â
Hope you enjoyed a blessed Shabbat at Brit-Am.
Â
There are things I have been reading concerning circumcision which are not always true and utter nonsense from certain religious groups attacking Judaism where they claim that the complete removal of the foreskin is not biblical when it is actually biblical, I have seen pictures - ancient depictions of Hebrew slaves in Egypt that were circumcised which looks similar to modern medical circumcision (complete removal of the foreskin) of people in North America today.
Â
Hope to hear from you soon.

3. Question on Intermarriage between the Tribes, Now and in the Future
David Jackson wrote:
Hi Yair,
General question. If someone who is Jewish marries a Christian who
identifies themselves as being from the LTT and conducts themselves
accordingly, would you consider that to be a mixed marriage? During the
time of the Judges the men of Benjamin married women of Manasseh following
the near extermination of Benjamin in that civil war, but now that the
northern kingdom has to a significant degree intermarried with Japhetic
peoples such as Cimmerians, should Jews refrain from marrying them? I
believe this is the position of Orthodox Judaism and I know evangelical
churches oppose interfaith marriages, but at some point, such as in the
Messianic Age described in the latter part of Ezekiel, I would expect this
to no longer be true. Can all 12 tribes then (or now) freely intermarry?

Brit-Am Reply:
You have more or less answered the question yourself.
Due to differences of belief and practice and due to the possibilities of intermixtures etc it was decreed that the Ten tribes and all similar groups would be treated as complete Gentiles according to the Law (Yebamot 17). .
They were divorced (Jeremiah 3:8), and counted as not my people (cf. Hosea1:9). They had begotten foreign children (Hosea 5:10).
In the future they shall return:
Zephaniah 3:10 ".....even the daughter of my dispersed shall bring mine offering."Â
Jeremiah 50:4-5
"In those days and in that time," says the Lord, "The children of Israel
shall come, They and the children of Judah together;
With continual weeping they shall come, And seek the Lord their God.
They shall ask the way to Zion, With their faces toward it, saying,
'Come and let us join ourselves to the Lord in a perpetual covenant that
will not be forgotten.'
In the place were it was said you are not my people it will be said the sons of the living God (Hosea 2:1 or 1:9 according to the version used).
In the future they will be one nations with one religion.
Ezekiel 37:
21 'Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king will be king for all of them; and they will no longer be two nations and no longer be divided into two kingdoms. 23 ... And they will be My people, and I will be their God.
From the above it stands to reason that they will be allowed to marry with each other.
Nevertheless intermarriage between Tribes may not be all that common since each tribe shall dwell in its own territory.
Those who are of non-Israelite origin but dwell amongst us and identify with us will be accepted according to whatever tribe they dwelt amongst.
Ezekiel 47:
21 'So you shall divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel. 22 You shall divide it by lot for an inheritance among yourselves and among the aliens who stay in your midst, who bring forth sons in your midst. And they shall be to you as the native-born among the sons of Israel; they shall be allotted an inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel. 23 And in the tribe with which the alien stays, there you shall give him his inheritance,' declares the Lord God.
