2. Assyrians in Central and Western Europe
Shalom Yair,
A couple of questions: I just listened to a teacher present a
strong case for Germany being Assyrian. Would you concur?
==============================
Brit-Am Reply:
Our impression is that the Germans are not Assyrians.
Historically the Assyrians may have transported settlers to Central and Western Europe.
They may have had some control of those regions at that time but little more than that.
A book of ours may appear soon with more information about these matters.

3. Time of Jacob's Trouble Not Necessarily Here Yet!
In March 22, 2001 (the 27th of Adar, 5761) a Prayer meeting was held at the Western Wall. The expression "time of Jacob's trouble" was used.
Now 3 years later we have been asked to comment on the occasion:
Yair do you know who I could speak with to find out how the 27 Great Ones Of Isreal in 2001 made the announcement that it was the begging of the "Time of Jacobs Trouble"????
Here are extracts of circular sent to Christian Hebrews about the subject:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
# At the Western Wall today and in yeshivas and synagogues and religious schools throughout Israel the sound of shofar blasts, the singing of Hebrew Psalms and cries and tears and wails of repentance were heard in response to a declaration by the Gedolei Yisrael (Great Ones of Israel) formally recognizing the beginning of the "time of Jacob's trouble."
# So over the past 24 hours the Jewish community here in Israel and throughout the world has united in prayer.
# Further it is signed by ALL 27 of the leading Orthodox and Chassidic sages, both the "maranan verabonon" (masters and teachers) and the "gedolei ha-Torah vehaChassidus (Torah sages among the Chassidut)."
#The declaration begins and is formally designated:
"IT IS A TROUBLED TIME FOR YA'ACOV BUT HE WILL BE SAVED"Â [Jeremiah 30:7]
#.... "Our only power is in exercising of the age-old tool of our fathers, which is to cry out and to cause an uproar, as the Rambam says at the beginning of Hilchos Taanis: "It is a positive command of the Torah to cry out and to sound the shofar over every calamity which strikes the community.. against the adversary that oppresses you, you should blow an alarm with the trumpets -- Numbers 10:9...

Brit-Am Reply:
Leading Rabbis and Chasidic leaders often call for Prayer meetings.
"time of Jacob's trouble"Â is a commonly used expression. It is not to be associated with any specific eschatological appreciation.
I do not remember the occasion.
We are commanded in time of trouble to pray and to sound trumpets.
If these matters interest you in future check with us in real time for an inside appraisal.
