1. Month of Sivan: Tribe of Zebulon
Tuesday 19 May, 2015, 1 Sivan, 5775 in the beginning of the Hebrew month of Sivan.
According to Sefer HaShevatim by Fishel Mael, Sivan is the month of Zebulon as stated by the most accepted opinions (HaGra, and Ha-Ari).
Other opinions say Ephraim (Midrash Peliah), or Levi (Rabad).
The Zodiacal sign is the Twins.

2. Feast of Shavuot. Ruth.
Beginning on Saturday night and extending through Sunday (19 May, 6th Sivan) is the Feast of Shavuot (Feast of Weeks, Pentecost) which celebrates the giving of the Torah.
It is a Holy Day.
Shavuot is celebrated in Israel for one day and in the Diaspora (outside of Israel) for two days.

Shavuot. Wikipedia Extracts:
Shavuot is also connected to the season of the grain harvest in Israel. In ancient times, the grain harvest lasted seven weeks and was a season of gladness (Jer. 5:24, Deut. 16:9-11, Isa. 9:2). It began with the harvesting of the barley during Passover and ended with the harvesting of the wheat at Shavuot. Shavuot was thus the concluding festival of the grain harvest, just as the eighth day of Sukkot (Tabernacles) was the concluding festival of the fruit harvest. During the existence of the Temple in Jerusalem, an offering of two loaves of bread from the wheat harvest was made on Shavuot.
Shavuot was also the first day on which individuals could bring the Bikkurim (first fruits) to the Temple in Jerusalem (Mishnah Bikkurim 1:3). The Bikkurim were brought from the Seven Species for which the Land of Israel is praised: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates (Deut. 8:8).

There is a custom to eat dairy products and food (such as cheese cake, ice cream, etc) debased on them.
On this day it is customary to read in the Synagogue the Book of Ruth.
Ruth was a Moabitess who converted and became the ancestress of King David and through David of the future Messiah.
Here is an article from previous years concerning Ruth.

3. Question on Alexander Hyslop, "The Two Babylons, subtitled The Papal Worship Proved to Be the Worship of Nimrod and His Wife" (1919)
If you have read and are familiar with Hyslops' book, The Two
Babylons, I wonder what your opinion is on his research and whether
you would recommend? I have heard conflicting reviews regarding
accuracy.
Thank you,

Brit-Am Reply:
It has been some time since I looked at this work.
From what I remember,
Hyslop says that the Catholic Church is Babylonian religion in disguise.
personally I do not care one way or the other BUT
the work of Hyslop is unreliable and in some places blatantly false and misleading. A masterpiece of fancy and misinformation.
Even if the main point has something to it Hyslop is not the one whose evidence may be depended upon.
Whether or not one should use it depends on how much time and effort you wish to expend in exploring the subject.
If you intend to look at several works then a glance at Hyslop might help if you check any information obtained against other sources.
