1. Message from Mark Williams re Jewish Ultra-Orthodox article mentioning Brit-Am

You get a shout out in the penultimate paragraph.
I don't think we've ever claimed, en masse, to even be a tribe of
Israel... let alone all ten of the lost ones.

Brit-Am Reply:
Thank you for this. It is good that an Ultra-Orthodox Publication like Yated Neeman is taking an interest in Brit-Am even if they got a few things wrong.
The article has some interesting and important information.

Excerpts:
Although the idea that Europeans were descended from ancient Israelites was publicized in S. Backhaus German book, Di Germanen ein Semitischer Volksstamm (1878), few Germans were delighted at the idea of having kinship with Jews, and during World War II, the Nazis persecuted adherents of the idea on the grounds that they were promoting a Jewish agenda. Many ended up in concentration camps.
In tandem with the belief that they belonged to the Ten Tribes, most early British-Israelites believed that the Jews must also return to the Holy Land. They had a strong Zionist streak. George Gawler, a prominent British-Israelite, argued that a loyal Jewish population in Palestine would enhance communications and trade in the Middle East; he accompanied Montefiore to Palestine in 1849, and he helped form the Association for Promoting Jewish Settlement in Palestine. His son, John Cox Gawler, published a blueprint for settlement in 1874 and in 1878, which Jewish settlers used, with funds from Edmund Rothschild, to establish a successful colony in Palestine.
In 1859, British Israelite Major J.S. Phillips proposed resettlement of Jews in the Promised Land with biblical boundaries. His plans even included building a railway from Antioch to the Persian Gulf in accordance with a verse he interpreted as referring to railways: The chariots flash with the fire of steel in the day of his preparation and the fir trees are shaken terribly. The chariots rage in the streets, they jostle one against another in the broad ways, their appearance is like torches, they run like lightning (Na- chum 2:3-4).
British Israelites were exultant when English Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli (of Jewish parenthood) bought the Suez Canal in the 1870s with the help of a #4 million loan from Lionel de Rothschild. At last, Jews and England were working in tandem to gain control of the Middle East. One British Israelite wrote at the time, "We identify Benjamin Disraeli, Esq., as one called in a most distinguished manner to lead the Nation to glory, and by the Identity, we see clearly how Judah and Israel became united, how Palestine comes into the possession of the British Nation." On the other hand, they viewed the Balfour Declaration with mixed feelings since it only promised Palestine to the Jews. British Israelites were left out in the cold.
In 1993, a Torah observant Australian Jew, now residing in Israel, established Brit-Am, the first Jewish organization to identify the Ten Tribes with British related peoples. Although his organization is unique in using rabbinical sources to back up the idea, the arguments of Brit-Am seem much the same as those used for the past hundred years.

3. What Has Brit-Am/Hebraic Tribes Really Added?
The article quoted (item no.2) above said:
# the arguments of Brit-Am seem much the same as those used for the past hundred years. #
This is correct as far as the arguments include Biblical and Historical sources. We have however added much to these as well as updating and improving those that already existed.
We also brought in Rabbinical Sources both as direct assertions concerning the Lost Ten Tribes and as confirmation for the interpretation of Biblical Passages.
We added (from the Bible, history, and archaeology) proof of the Migratory Pathway from Assyria by SEA in addition to those that came overland.
The significance of the presence alongside the Lost Ten Tribes of EDOM is also a new revelation of Brit-Am.
There are other matters that may be accredited to us as well as things we are still working on.
More on all this later.

4. BIWF not really British-Israelites!
The BIWF (British Israel World Federation) was originally constituted as a kind of federation of groups and individuals who believed the Lost Ten Tribes were among the British.
The problem is that in the eyes of the public and the Media they are still identified with British Israel though this is no longer correct!
At the beginning many of them were pro-Jewish and sympathetic to Zionism.
Then they became anti-Semitic to some degree. They have been that way on and off for some while, with exceptions.
They have also stopped believing in British Israel!
In effect nearly all their writings concern matters of Christian Devotion, a little bit about British Politics, maybe something about Luther, etc. and that is it!
Occasionally they might write something critical about Israel.
On a few occasions they did have British-Israel type guest articles from Bert Otten, and that has been it.
Some of them believe the Germans, Indians of India, Russians, etc, and others are all from the Ten Tribes just as some of the British might be.
Brit-Am/Hebraic Tribes is actually more British Israel in the Classical Sense than they are!
Maybe it is better that way?
If any representatives of the BIWF wish to react to this they are welcome to do so.

Brit-Am Reply:
The Map depicted is what we understand to be the Promised Land.
There are other opinions. This is a complicated subject.
We should perhaps write a book on the matter or at the least a few articles.

Malachi 3:
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,
Says the LORD of hosts,
'If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.
Proverbs 3:
9 Honor the LORD with your wealth
and with the first of all your produce,
10 so your barns will be filled with abundance,
and your vats will burst open with new wine.
