Contents:
Introduction
Seven Points Identifying the Dutch with Zebulon by Yair Davidiy.
Ten Points Identifying the Dutch with Zebulon by Bert Otten.
Conclusion
Extract:
Both of the above authors show that Zebulon is to be identified with the Dutch.
Both mention the points to dwell on the sea-shores, be a haven for ships, and the importance of diamonds.
Two of the points made by Yair Davidiy were Legends of Israelite Origin and the Book of Obadiah.
These concern Israelite origins in general rather than specific Tribal Origins from Zebulon.
This leaves us concerning Zebulon being equated with the Netherlands 3 points from Yair:
The symbol of Zebulon and the Dutch being a ship.
The Sabalingoi i.e. "People (goi) of Zebulon" having been in the north.
The sons of Zebulon (Yachlyal, Sered, and Elon) giving their names to peoples who settled in the Netherlands.
and 8 points from Bert...

2. Question on the Multiplication of the Sons of Joseph "Like Fishes".
Joseph is protected from the evil eye resulting from malicious intent and jealousy of others.

I've been reading the Torah portions online at the chabad site
and in today's reading (2nd of Vayechi) I noticed that verse 16 of
chapter 48 is rendered thus:
"16. may the angel who redeemed me from all harm bless the youths, and
may they be called by my name and the name of my fathers, Abraham and
Isaac, and may they multiply abundantly like fish, in the midst of the
land."
Which Rashi interprets to mean
and may they multiply 'like fish: [Just] like fish, which proliferate
and multiply, and are unaffected by the evil eye. ' [from Onkelos aand
Gen. Rabbah 97:3]
Any thoughts on that? Is it a pun?

Brit-Am Reply:
Genesis 48:16 is from the blessing of Jacob to the sons of Joseph.
"The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth."
The Hebrew word translated as "and may they multiply" [or "and let them grow into a multitude"] is "ve-yidgu" from the root DG. The same root is used for the word "dag" i.e. fish.
There may therefore be an etymological connection between the words for multiply [yDeG] and for fish [DaG].
It may be a pun in the sense that Scripture very often uses words that sound the same but have different meaning (homonyms) or that have other points in common and may be interpreted in different ways to express multi-faceted messages.
Fish being found beneath the water surface were considered in folklore to be protected from the evil eye. For this reason they tended to increase and multiply unimpeded by the malicious observation of others. Fish were considered symbolic of great rapid increase in general.
Descendants of Joseph were also believed to possess an innate immunity against the evil eye.
They too would therefore destined increase and multiply to a great degree.
The blessing was therefore in the Midrash interpreted as saying that Joseph would increase and multiply to a great degree [va-yidgu] in the midst of the earth just like fish in the sea. They would also be protected from the evil eye just like fish were.

Hanukkah yes, but what about Kislev 24?
by Dr James Tabor
http://jamestabor.com/2012/12/08/hanukkah-yes-but-what-about-kislev-24/
Extracts:
You can find the colorful and bloody story in 1 Maccabees 1-4, a book included in Catholic Bibles but referred to by Protestants as part of the 'Apocrypha.' If you don't have a copy around it is readily available on-line at apocrypha.org and is well worth reading. The festival itself, which lasts eight days, is a celebration of the 'cleansing' and rededication of the Jewish Temple in 165 BCE when the forces lead by the family of Judas Maccabee ('the Hammer') recaptured Jerusalem and removed the pagan altar and other 'abominations' that Antiochus had instituted in an effort to stamp out worship of the Jewish God [Almighty] (see 1 Macc. 4:59).
... What is altogether fascinating is a much earlier and little known biblical reference to a different but very related date, Kislev 24 on the Jewish calendar, which is today, Saturday, December 8th this year. This, of course, is one day before the Hanukkah celebration, but the reference can be precisely dated to 520 BCE, over 350 years before the Maccabean victory. I refer here to the book of the Prophet Haggai.
... Both Haggai and Zechariah address their contemporary situation, as one would expect, and are concerned that the Temple be rebuilt and the city-state of Judea be restored to limited sovereignty after the Babylonian destruction in 586 BCE. However, if read carefully, both clearly understand that this restoration of Judah is only a preliminary, even symbolic step, to a coming great restoration of Judah and all Israel - including the so-called 'Lost Tribes.'
The book of Haggai is sequential; ...
The precise date Kislev 24 is mentioned four times in the second chapter, verses 10, 15, 18 and 20. Twice it is emphasized that 'from this day forward I will bless you, ... the message is basically that [the Almighty] will shake the heavens and the earth and all nations, overthrowing their power, after which He will anoint the chosen one of the line of David (symbolized in that day by Zerubbabel), and essentially make Jerusalem the new world capital. This entire prophetic agenda to which Haggai alludes is laid out in great detail in the pre-Exilic Prophets, see particularly Isaiah 2:1-4; Jeremiah 3:14-18; 23:5-8; Micah 5:2-5).
This message is addressed to the two 'Messiahs,' the Priest and the 'King' or Governor, Joshua and Zerubbabel, respectively (2:4-5). They become 'signifiers' of things to come. They are not the final anointed ones...
Fast forward to Sunday, December 9, 1917. General Allenby, leading the British forces (remember Lawrence of Arabia), liberated Jerusalem for the first time in centuries from Turkish/Muslim rule. By the morning of December 9th Turkish forces had fled the city and the governor Izzat Pasha fled in a horse drawn carriage borrowed from the American Colony hotel - leaving behind a note of surrender. The date on the Jewish calendar, you guessed it: Kislev 24. ...
