on 'troublemaking', Agence France Presse

BEIJING - China said it had asked North Korea to ensure the safety
of its diplomats after a warning that missions should consider evacuating,
and that it would not tolerate "troublemaking" on its doorstep.
North Korean authorities on Friday[5 April] told embassies in Pyongyang that
their safety could not be guaranteed if a conflict breaks out, after weeks
of escalating threats against the United States and South Korea.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said China "expresses grave concerns"
about the growing tensions on the Korean peninsula but that the Chinese
embassy was "operating normally".
Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a phone conversation with UN Secretary
General Ban Ki-moon that there were deep concerns over the situation on the
Korean peninsula.
"We oppose provocative words and actions by any party in this region, and
will not allow troublemaking on China's doorstep," he said in unusually
sharp comments released by the ministry late Saturday[6 April].
The New York Times said last week that the US is pressuring China to crack
down on the regime in North Korea or face an increased US military presence
in the region.
Beijing has been Pyongyang's sole major ally for decades and is its biggest
trading partner, providing key energy supplies to the impoverished nation.
Tensions have been running high on the Korean peninsula with a series of
apocalyptic threats from the North, incensed by fresh UN sanctions imposed
after its widely-condemned long-range rocket launch and a third nuclear
test.

3. How true is it that Israel deceitfully gave Ethiopian Jews birth control injections? by Brendan O'Neill followed by Comments from "Tsur" and Brit-Am

When it was reported earlier this week that Israeli officials had been giving birth control to arriving Ethiopian Jews "without their consent", the international media had a field day. Twitter lapped it up, too. Here was hard evidence, observers said, of Israeli racism. Some even used the word "sterilisation" and haughtily reminded Israelis that the Holocaust, that thing they go on about all the time, also started with the sterilisation of "undesirables". Echoing Lib Dem MP David Ward's recent chastisement of "the Jews" for failing to learn anything from their experiences during the Holocaust, bloggers and observers accused Israel's sterilisers of repeating the very history that Israel's founders sought to escape from.
But how true is it that Israel "forced" or "coerced" Ethiopian Jews into taking birth control, without even telling them it was birth control? An interesting piece in Haaretz says it isn't very true, and "the more [this] story is repeated, the more warped and distorted it becomes". Haaretz says it is certainly the case, as revealed in an Israeli TV documentary in December, that Israel's immigration authorities are guilty of "insensitivity" and "cultural condescension" towards Ethiopian Jews, and perhaps a "certain level of racism". The article says these African Jews were indeed given Depo-Provera, a birth-control injection that lasts for three months, both in Addis Ababa, as they waited to go to Israel, and also in the absorption centres they first stayed in upon arrival in Israel. But it is not the case, or it certainly has not been proven by anyone, that they were given these injections deceitfully, without their consent, being misled into believing they were just inoculations.
As for the claims that Israel is "sterilising" immigrants it doesn't like very much, Haaretz points out that, by definition, an injection whose birth-controlling power lasts only three months is not sterilisation. It also points out that some Ethiopian women continued voluntarily to receive Depo-Provera even once they were settled in Israel, because they "preferred being injected at a clinic rather than having to take pills daily in the presence of other family members who might disapprove of that decision". That is, the injections became culturally convenient for some Ethiopian women in Israel.
....But the mistreatment of this story, the exaggeration of it, the warped repeating of it by observers and tweeters around the world, reveals something ugly too: a thirst for treating Israel as a uniquely racist, wicked, barbaric outpost. When it comes to pointing a big, white Western finger at Israel and accusing it of carrying out the kind crimes of racism and colonialism that the rest of us grew out of years ago, a favoured pastime of so many liberal campaigners today, it seems facts count for little.

Extracts:
... no Israeli governmental organization was involved in the medical treatment of the Ethiopian Jewish women, so it cannot be honestly claimed that there was an Israeli policy or intention to "sterilise" the women. The context was that the Israeli government was actually bringing the women to Israel, after all, not trying to reduce Ethiopian numbers in Israel but actually to increase them. According to the Jewish Telegraph Agency article on this, the group responsible for medical treatments was an NGO, the American Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), which has agitated for many years for admission of Ethiopian Jews: it is a very strong supporter of them. The JDC says it presented Ethiopian clients with a purely voluntary and well-informed choice, which is its standard policy, and the reports against them are false. It did not share the decisions of clients with the Israeli government; it was an entirely private matter for the clients. Not even their husbands were involved if the clients did not wish it. Contraceptive injections are the standard and preferred method in Ethiopia generally. In any case, the effect only lasts a few months. It is not "sterilisation." All of this puts the matter in a different light.
That there are relatively only a few cases at issue is indicated by the fact mentioned in a Jerusalem Post article on the subject (28.01.13) that among the 100,000 Ethiopians presently in Israel only some 2,850 women are currently taking these contraceptive injections. So we do not have to do with anything of major significance anyway. All of the heated accusations of sterilisation of Ethiopian Jewry as an Israeli racist policy are a massive beat-up, entirely in line with the standard dishonesty of Israel's enemies.
====
Brit-Am Comment:
A relatively small number of Ethiopian women were involved in receiving this 3-months long contraceptive program. The program was initiated in the waiting camps in Ethiopia whilst the families were being processed to fly to Israel. For some it was continued after arriving in Israel, again probably at the request of the women. There may have been medical and social reasons for it. It was a short term measure and nothing like the permanent sterilization programs undertaken in the USA, Puerto Rico, and throughout the world. It was not governmental policy but rather undertaken on the initiative of voluntary bodies probably against the advice of the Israeli Health Ministry. The whole story was been distorted and misrepresented to blacken the name of Israel.
The incident however does highlight a problem. NGOs within Israel and Israeli government policy is to empower women. Whether this is right or wrong it adversely affects male masculinity. Ethiopian men especially have problems adjusting to it. This has resulted in tens of murders of Ethiopian woman by their spouses.
There have also been admitted attempts over the past decades to empower Arab women. This is one of the reasons the Arabs resent and hate us. Their women hate us even more. Israeli society also suffers from it. Women in the IDF weaken fighting capability. They are there for ideological reasons and not utilitarian ones.

4. The USA Versus Magog and Company in Korean Waters?
Is THIS real reason Obama's confronting North Korea? Pivoting toward Asia as China eyes 'new economic world order'
by Aaron Klein (forwarded by Craig White).
 http://www.wnd.com/2013/04/is-this-why-obamas-responding-to-north-korea/#HhXE7SR8Yxs3e0eU.99
JERUSALEM Â Is the Obama administration's military build up in the Pacific part of the president's so-called pivot-toward-Asia strategy, a move that could demonstrate the biggest shift in world power since World War II?
Extracts:
Specifically, is Washington using the North Korean nuclear standoff as an excuse to shift massive military might to Asia just as China and other powers seek to create a new economic order that would rival the Western-dominated World Bank and International Monetary Fund?
It is difficult for most seasoned observers to explain why Obama is suddenly responding to North Korean aggression when the White House did little in 2008 when North Korea refused to allow United Nations inspectors into its nuclear plants.
The Obama administration also took little action when North Korea in 2009 carried out at least two nuclear tests, one of which is believed to have been the cause of a magnitude 4.7 seismic event.
The White House did not allow the U.S. military any significant response when in 2010 North Korea torpedoed a South Korean navy ship, killing 46 sailors. North Korea then shelled a South Korean island with little U.S. reaction.
Now, purportedly in response to aggressive action by North Korea's new leader, the White House is sending to Singapore a new class of warship designed to fight in coastal waters.
The Pentagon also announced that it will deploy a missile defense system to the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam to strengthen regional protection against a possible attack. This after the Obama administration largely canceled a similar defense system intended for Europe.
Why is the U.S. now responding to North Korea?
Time magazine says the 'U.S. pivot toward Asia' and the potential for confrontation with China  became a little more real this week with the arrival of a new class of warship designed to fight in coastal waters.
That pivot has been declared by the Obama administration itself  a professed strategy of putting a greater focus on the Asia region.
The U.S. military shift comes as the so-called BRICS countries, Â Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, seek to create a monetary system to rival and even surpass the West.
While it received little U.S. media attention, last week at its fifth annual summit the BRICS group unveiled what it said was a new development bank aimed at breaking the monopoly held by Western-backed institutions.
The bank would use $50 billion of seed capital shared equally between Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa but would clearly be dominated by China.
Russian President Vladimir Putin gave support for the bank while India's trade minister said BRICS will 'have a defining influence on the global order of this century.'
Under the deal, the two largest economies of the emerging power groups, China and Brazil, agreed to remove nearly half of their trade exchanges out of the U.S. dollar zone, a significant blow to the U.S. dollar.

5. The Yoke of Evil. Drugs for Nukes and Terror
"HEROIN FOR NUKES" by Rachel Ehrenfeld
Extracts:
Opiates and other illegal drugs are known to have caused and funded many wars. Afghan heroin has been funding the Taliban, al Qaeda, Iran, the Assad family, Hezbollah and other rouge regimes and terror groups, corrupting governments, and enslaving hundreds of millions of people, robbing them of their health, their mind and their money.
However, North Korea's Heroin-for-Nukes program have received little attention. Pyongyang embarked on heroin production and trafficking on a large scale in the early 1990s, after the collapse of its major sponsors, the Soviet Union and the Communist bloc.
The "heroin-for-nukes" program began in August 1992, when Kim Jong-il ordered the Central Party's Thirty-Ninth Office to oversee opium cultivation and heroin production and traffic to fund the North Korean nuclear program. Those who sold more than $1 million worth of heroin were awarded the title "Hero of White Bellflower."
Since the late 1990s, North Korea is reported to have produced at least 44 tons of heroin annually and large quantities of high grade methamphetamines, which it has been producing since 1996. Working with Chinese and South Korean crime syndicates, drugs, counterfeit currency and, among other things cigarettes are smuggled to Northern China, South Korea and its diplomatic missions around the world. Lately, North Korean hackers have been exploiting on-line gambling, pocketing the ill-gotten revenues.
The largest source of North Korea's illegal income - estimated between $1-$2 billion per year -- used to maintain its Nukes program, comes from illegal drugs,
Every so-often, the State Department notes that illegal drugs fund terrorism. Yet, the U.S. has persistently refused to use an effective and safe method to eradicate heroin, cannabis and cocaine, which fuel terrorism from Kandahar to Tehran, to Damascus and Pyongyang. Â

In a column published Wednesday, Ha'aretz writer Amira Hass, who lives in the PA city of Ramallah , wrote, "Throwing stones is the right and the duty of anyone living under foreign rule." Later in the column she termed rock-throwing "a metaphor for resistance." Hass is the official Ha'aretz correspondent for what the newspaper labels the "occupied territories". (Leftist daily newspaper Ha'aretz incites Arab violence and promotes self-defeat in Israel.)

7. Ugliness Dutch Try to Keep Quiet followed by Brit-Am Comment
Extracts from Shamrack
From: Steven Shamrak <shamrakreport@gmail.com>
http://www.shamrak.com/
During the war (WWII) many Jews had their homes confiscated, ostensibly for failing to pay taxes. City officials continued trying to collect taxes from survivors for years after the war. Last year the Dutch government made headlines with its ongoing refusal to apologize for the apathy that the Dutch government-in-exile demonstrated toward the roundup and murder of most of the country's Jews during the Holocaust.
====
Brit-Am Comment: Many Dutch risked their lives to save Jews BUT there were also anti-Jewish actions. After the war 100s of Dutch Jewish children were not allowed to be returned to their Jewish families but were forcibly brought up as Christians.
