1. Israel's First "Second Strike" Submarine Is a Dolphin With Nukes by Andrew Tarantola

Extracts:
Christened the INS Tanin, this Dolphin-class submarine is both the largest sub produced by Germany since WWII and the most expensive vehicles owned by the IDF. It's also widely regarded as among the most sophisticated, stealthy, and effective conventionally-powered (i.e. non-nuclear) submarines on the planet.
The Tanin, which is just the fourth submarine in Israel's fleet, is an example of the slightly larger, slightly newer Dolphin 2 design, measures 225 feet in length with a 22 foot beam and 20 foot drought. Three diesel-electric motors generate 4,243 shp apiece, giving the Tanin a top speed of 25 knots underwater. A compliment of just 35 crewmen is all that is needed to operate the vessel. What's more, it's outfitted with an advanced air-independent propulsion system.
See, the until the advent of nuclear propulsion, submarines could only hold their breath (quite literally) for limited amounts of time. Their diesel engines required oxygen to run and once that supply ran out, the engines died. AIP technology, conversely, works like a hybrid car. Diesel engines recharge massive Li-ion batteries that power a silent propulsion system which is not limited by the need for oxygen, only by the capacity of the batteries.
And while the mascot isn't exactly terrifying, these dolphins pack a punch. They're equipped with room for up to 16 torpedoes and cruise missiles. Four enormous 650mm tubes can be used for anything from subsea mines to special forces infiltration vehicles.
More importantly, these tubes can launch SLCMs (sub-launched cruise missiles), like the Popeye, which are capable of travelling more than 900 miles and are rumored to have been outfitted with 440-pound nuclear-tipped warheads. This would offer Israel a potent first strike capability as well as serve as a doomsday backup, giving Israel a chance to counter from offshore any inbound nuclear attack, sort of a way to just make things worse for an entire planet already enveloped in thermonuclear war.
"The submarine will amplify the capabilities of the IDF and the State of Israel's strength," Lieutenant General (res.) Ehud Barak, Israel's Minister of Defense, said during a press conference in 2012 during the initial purchase of the vessels from Germany at a cost of $1.27 billion. "The Navy has undergone strategic changes over the past few years that place it at the forefront of the battle over the safety of Israel, as the long arm of the IDF. The agreement reflects the strong relations with Germany and the German government's commitment to Israeli security."
After a two week journey from a Kiel, Germany shipyard, the INS Tanin arrived in the port of Haifa on Monday where it will undergo a quick set of final tweaks before entering service with the Israeli Navy. It will soon be joined by two more submarines: another Dolphin 2 called the Rahav and an as-of-yet unnamed sixth sub in 2019. [IDF 1, 2 - Haaratz 1, 2 - Wiki - DID

2. Israeli Defense Force rescues Irish troops from Islamist extremists
by Kayla Hertz, September 12, 2014

Irish soldiers would have been killed or taken hostage by Islamist extremists if not for the military intervention of the Israeli army.
It was revealed that last week Israeli soldiers saved a group of Irish troops serving with the United Nations who were on the brink of being captured, and possibly held hostage, or killed by Islamist extremists in the Golan Heights.
Â
The Irish peacekeepers were under attack from the Syrian rebel group Nusra Front while on a mission to evacuate trapped Filipino UN troops. The Israeli Defense Force, which has posts on high ground overlooking the UN observer bases in Quneitra, came to their rescue.
The IDF then used their precise intelligence on the area to guide the troops to safety along a route that avoided heavily armed Nusra fighters. There are unconfirmed reports that the Israeli soldiers also directed fire at the extremists to keep them from attacking the Irish troops.
Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan declared that the Irish mission for the UN faces urgent review: 'We don't want to see Irish troops or the UN contingent being drawn into a Syrian civil war,' he told the Independent.
An article in Commentary Magazine recently described Ireland as 'one of the most consistently anti-Israel countries in the EU.'
'The Golan is included in the list of 'Israeli-occupied territories' that [Dublin] wants Israel to quit. One wonders whether Dublin appreciates the irony that had Israel complied with this demand, IDF troops wouldn't have been on hand last week to rescue its peacekeepers.
'But that, of course, is precisely the problem with seeking to empower your enemies rather than your allies: If you succeed, your allies will no longer be able to help you when you need them.'
Last year Ireland led the opposition in the EU against blacklisting the Hezbollah's military wing as a terrorist organization. It also strongly opposes Israel's blockade of Hamas-ruled Gaza and tried to ban the import of Israeli products into Europe.
The Independent established, citing senior sources, that Israel's assistance was decisive in the mission's success: 'Irish soldiers would have almost certainly been killed or taken hostage by Islamist extremists if it wasn't for the military intervention of the Israeli army during last week's battle to save besieged UN soldiers.'

3. Proverbs 20: 28-30. Good is a reward for goodness and vice-versa.
http://hebrewnations.com/articles/bible/proverbs/proverbs20.html
28 Loyalty and faithfulness preserve the king,
and his throne is upheld by righteousness.
From the Hebrew this is better translated as saying:
Kindness and Truth guard [or form, Hebrew "Yatsru"] the King;
For by kindness is his throne supported.
The Hebrew words are Chesed [Kindness] ve-Emet [and truth]
The King represents Government in general.
The Hebrew word "Yatsru" from the root "Yatsar" can connote guard, preserve, or form i.e. create. It could be that the ambiguity here is deliberate. The Government should have its aims to be helping the people, doing good to them and being fair and just i.e. guided by truth. If it so acts it shall be not only preserved but its good deeds shall be what makes it what it is.
If you do good, in the end it becomes part of you. It makes you what you are.
Kindness is Truth i.e. doing good to others has an element of righteousness in it. It is what we can do.
A lot of criticism m\ay be made against the Scandinavian countries but for many decades their social services worked very well and they were successful. This may have been in part because their leadership was imbued (relatively speaking) with the idea of serving the people and that this was the right thing to do.
29 The glory of youths is their strength,
but the beauty of the aged is their grey hair.
We all get old.
Do what you can while you can with what you have.
Perhaps the message is that someone should be themself.
Do not try to be like someone else especially when what you really are may be worth much more.
30 Blows that wound cleanse away evil;
beatings make clean the innermost parts.
Sufferings can purify a person.
The Sages seem to have rendered the message something like the following:
Blows that wound and attacks agaisnt the innermost parts of your body are the result of evil indulgences.
