1. Internet Penetration, Comparison of Countries
http://www.vox.com/xpress/2014/9/20/6661175/the-population-of-the-internet-in-one-map
While the United States is more wired than much of the world, the US is not a world leader when it comes to internet penetration. Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Scandinavian countries, South Korea, and New Zealand all have a higher percentage of their people online. The US has about the same Internet penetration as France, Australia, and Japan.
Israel seems to have the same degree of penetration as the USA.

Extracts:
The Population and Immigration Authority has released its annual figures for the Jewish month of 5774, ahead of Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year), which begins Wednesday night.
On the eve of 5775, there are 8,904,373 registered Israeli citizens, compared to 8,730,562 at the same time last year.
That population growth is due to both the Israeli birthrate and the steady stream of new olim (immigrants) into the country.
During the past year, a total of 176,230 babies were born - 90,646 boys and 85,584 girls. The statistics show a significant population boom; at this time in 2013, 160,749 babies were born in Israel, with a count of just 82,437 boys and 78,312 girls - a 9% increase overall.
Immigration has skyrocketed as well. 24,801 olim arrived in Israel over the past year, compared to just 16,968 in 5773 - a 46% increase.
The most popular boy's name this year is Yosef, followed by Daniel, Uri, Itai, Omar, Adam, Noam, Ariel, Eitan and David, respectively. For girls, the most popular name was Tamar, followed by Noah, Shirah, Adelle, Talya, Yael, Lian, Miriam, Maya and Avigayil.
All of the "most popular" names remained the same since 5773.
140,951 Israelis are currently registered as married, 75,848 of whom tied the knot over the past year - compared to the roughly 64,000 who wed in 5773 (15% increase).
In contrast, 32,475 Israelis are registered as divorced over in 5774, with a significant increase in divorces; 23,419 couples separated over the past year alone, vs. just 14,000 in 5773 - a 40% increase.

3. Report: US Sending Indirect Military Aid to Hezbollah
The US has allegedly sent military aid and intelligence to the Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist organization, according to the NYT.

Extracts:
The United States has reportedly sent indirect military aid to the Hezbollah terrorist organization, according to information released in a New York Times interview with Hezbollah public relations liaison Mohammed Afif.
The aid, which came in the form of new weapons, was channeled via the Lebanese Army, which closely coordinates with the Hezbollah terrorist group, according to Afif. In addition, U.S. intelligence is being channeled to Hezbollah as well, according to Lebanese sources. This would explain how the terrorist organization was able to pinpoint its first UAV bombing so precisely against the Al Qaeda-linked Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group, which is not associated with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terror group and which in fact currently is fighting against the organization. Al Qaeda has denounced ISIS as 'too brutal.'
The assistance to Hezbollah, which appears on America's list of foreign terrorist organizations, comes in stark contrast to the block placed by the Obama White House on a needed transfer to Israel of Hellfire missiles during this summer's counter terror Operation Protective Shield in Gaza. The transfer of any weapons and other military hardware to Israel, even routine munitions requests, was temporarily blocked by the State Department and the White House, which required a double signature on any delivery. The hold was released following an intense protest against the action by Congressional leaders on both sides of the aisle. However, any form of American military aid - Â once a 'given' by Israel's 'closest friend and ally' ,continues to be scrutinized by President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry; an unprecedented situation in relations between the two countries.
... Both Russia and Iran, which generously supports both Syria and Hezbollah, have warned the U.S. not to venture into Syrian air space without permission from Assad. Since the U.S. has been arming rebels to oppose him, such authorization is unlikely.
